Too large to effectively serve as a paperweight

Have experienced all problems listed by others. My unit also has telltale scratches where I had to pry dvd tray open. Green and red blotches flash across screen when it does work. Unit has locked up, paused in the middle of playback, skipped forward and backward, and just gotten lost in the process of navigating on-screen commands. I have learned my lesson! The only positive thing I can say is that when I can get it to read audio cd's it seems to do pretty well. Need to make a zero rating available; however, over 80 negative reviews pretty much tell the story.

Don't waste your time with this piece of crap. 20 out of 30 DVD I own do not want to play with this DVD. My JVC S45GD is night and day compared to this Oritron something.

good for throwing against the wall

bought this last christmas as a gift for my son. It worked ok for about 3 months, with pretty light use. It was all downhill from there...won't eject, won't play, pretty much a complete piece of junk. I had less problems housetraining my doggie. Definately NOT recommended and currently being used as a doorstop. Maybe after being kicked several thousand times, I'll feel better. Spend the extra money, we bought a JVC dvd player and it's a beauty!

this product sucks... bought it at circuit city "refurbished".... right... just recycled... this product has no redeeming qualities.. Will replace as soon as possible.. the remote doesn't work...but it does make a nice battery storage compartment. i wish i had read these reviews before i purchased it. I have to go thru a 12 step process before actually watching a DVD... you have to unplug it and clear out the memory everytime. BEWARE this product sucks... stay away from it.

EJECTING DVD, SOUND.

I REALLY DIDN'T WANT TO SPEND ALOT OF MONEY ON A DVD PLAYER SO THE $139.00 PRICE WAS GREAT AT THE TIME. I WILL NEVER BUY ANYTHING FROM ORITRON AGAIN AND I SUGGEST THAT YOU DON'T NO MATTER HOW MANY (OR FEW) SUCCESS STORIES YOU'VE HEARD HERE.
1. WHEN YOUR DONE WATCHING A MOVIE BE SURE TO EJECT THE DVD BEFORE YOU TURN THE UNIT OFF. AS IT WILL TAKE YOU 5-10 MINUTES TO GET IT OUT WHEN YOU TURN IT BACK ON.
2. WHEN YOU PUT IN A NEW MOVIE AND THE SOUND IS SUPER LOW HIT THE MUTE BUTTON AND THEN UNMUTE IT OR YOU HAVE TO TURN UP YOUR TV TO THE MAX SETTING AND EVEN THEN YOU CAN'T HEAR IT OVER THE SOUND OF THE STEAM COMING OUT OF YOUR EARS.
3. THE LAST STRAW WAS WHEN I TRIED TO TURN IT ON AND NOTHING..TRY AGAIN AND AGAIN AND NOTHING. UNPLUGGING AND PLUGGING IT BACK IN USED TO WORK WHEN IT WOULD LOCK UP BUT NOT THIS TIME I TOOK IT APART THINKING THERE WAS A SWITCH PROBLEM BUT NO, IT'S A PRODUCT PROBLEM.
MY SUGGESTION IS THAT YOU DO NOT BUY THIS DVD PLAYER AND SPEND THE EXTRA 20 BUCKS TO GET A REAL DVD PLAYER. I PURCHASED A SONY CD/DVD/CD-R/CD-RW AND ITS GREAT I WILL NEVER SACRAFICE A GREAT DEAL FOR QUALITY AGAIN.
