Strength:

Easy fix if you use ben's website

Weakness:

Sony should just fix the bug instead of everyone have to "rig" their circuitry

"No Disk" errors due to 2 fuses. See website http://www.ben-morris.net/dvd/. Several posts on this under the dvp-s560 model.

Everything including, skipping sections, not reading disk, etc,,,,,,,,,,

I purchased this pile of junk and used it for one year. It now skips DVD sections, will not read DVD disks, and the list of inferior performance standards goes on and on. I can only say that I feel as if I was taken advantage of by Sony. I bought for the quality that I felt Sony represented, but what I got was "fool's gold". My advice is to buy ANY brand but Sony. That way you may get some of your money's worth........Sony and Enron appear to have a lot in common....

Worked nicely for about a year and a half. But same problems as everyone else, need a new DVD player now. I don't watch a whole lot of DVDs and I take VERY good care of all of them (not a scratch or smudge on any), so it's just inexcuseable for the thing to stop working for no reason. Almost everything I own is Sony and this is the first big problem I've ever had, so I plan on sticking with them, but I still find this ridiculous. And to respond to the previous reviewer, I heard a while back that these older Sony models (S330, S360, etc) use basically the same hardware/software as the PS2. That could be why.

Strength:

Great looks and Performance... to a point.

Weakness:

Fairly obvious I guess. That's why we're all here

I too purchased my DVP-S360 at the end of 2000, and experienced ZERO problems until last night. I got the NO DISC. I never got the C-13 error like the rest of you did, but I really had mostly flawless performance for the last 2 years. I was real happy until last night. In fact I accused my girlfriend of being rough with it while cleaning it... lol. Im into any kind of lawsuit that happens. Sony's got too good a reputation to allow a product of this quality go out to consumers, and then to not do anything about it.

Strength:

Product reputation.

Weakness:

Extremely poor quality.

I just hopped on line to try to figure out if other people were having the C13 error followed by the "No Disk" error. Mine lasted about 18 months; it was a refurbished model I bought at a Sony Outlet. Count me in on a class action lawsuit. My brother had a similar problem with his Sony PS2. Could it be a faulty DVD mechanism across several products?

Usual Sony quality...

Great unit not a single problem like many others have descibed. I had checked into it before buying and was scared, but that vanished upon using it.

Strength:

Nothing

Weakness:

Everything! Does not function

Total junk!!! I don't get the no disc error message. Just no picture! I can hear the movie but can not get any picturev on my TV. It's just a distorted flickeringmess. I have tried it on numerous TV sets with the same results. I have probably watched about 20 movies on it in a year. Its almost cheaper to go to the movie theater. I heard there was a class action suit against Sony. If anybody knows how this is progressing please let me know. In the meantime I'll be buying another machine. Hopefully I will get more than a years use out of it. I will never buy Sony again!!!

Strength:

It reads right more times then it doesnt...

Weakness:

C:13:00 misreads more and more often on new DVD's. I can put one in, it wont read and put another and it will...????

Jumping on the C:13:00 bandwagon. I thought it was the disks I would rent since it seemed to only error on rentals. But it is so nerv-racking. Its so when I rent and have friends over, I pray that it doesnt start missreading during the movie. Tonight I had it. I couldnt even get a New rental movie to play at all without C13 coming up. Its nice to know im not the only one. Ill jump into the class -action when there is one.

Strength:

It works for about a year

Weakness:

It works for about a year

It worked fine for 2yr. Now I get "NO DISC" error. Sony wants me pay $176 (not including shipping to SONY). This looks like common problem after a year. CLASS ACTION SUIT seems to be the right way.

Strength:

- compact size - light weight

Weakness:

- extremely poor quality (especially for Sony) - completely useless piece of metal after only 1 year

This Sony DVD player worked fine for about 13 months. After that, it intemittently refused to turn on. Since warranty is only 12 months, neither the store where I purchased it nor the manufacturer would do anything about it. I would have to unplug the unit and let it sit for couple hours, and if I was lucky, it would start functioning again. After several months of going through this nonsense, I took it to a repair shop, and they could not find a problem (since it was intermittent). They suggested I replace the power unit at a cost of $120 to see if this is what's causing the problem. What I did instead, is use that $120 to buy a new Toshiba DVD player (SD2800) that appears to be more reliable so far, has better picture quality, more features, and is compatible with more CD and DVD formats. As for my Sony DVP-S360, it is sitting in my garage gathering dust. Anyone wants to buy a paper weight that may occasionally function as a DVD player? :)
