Strength:

Worked for 22 months

Weakness:

Died and is past warranty. $250 is for this piece of horsecrap? If the matter does not get properly taken care of, I'll be SURE NEVER to buy from Sony again, and I'll make it a point to tell each of my friends, relatives and co-workers NOT to buy from Sony ever again.

Well, I was one of the first people to write about this about 2 years ago...and I praised the unit. But now after 22 months, I'm getting the problems everyone here has been getting, and as a stubborn guy who gets really angry when things go wrong when they shouldn't...I'M PISSED. 250 Dollars for something that dies after an average of 12-16 months??? BULLS@#T I've contacted a few of you out there who are taking part in the Class Action Suit. If you think you should have gotten an email from me but didn't, please email me. I'd be MORE than happy to join your quest for justice in this case.

RIPOFF! The appropriate model # should be DV-POS-360. You may as well set your money on fire! I currently have 7 pieces of Sony A/V equipment in my home, and the only other problem I've had was a bad TV tuner that cost me $150. to fix. Any company can have an occaisional quality problem. It's what they DO about it that makes or breaks their reputation and consumer loyalty. Sony has dropped the ball on this one. There is info on class action suits and product recalls in prior posts. I have written for more info, and suggest you do the same. If nearly 500 peope have posted this problem here, imagine how many more have'nt. I'm forced to pay for a second player, and am looking at HDTVs-neither will be a Sony.

Strength:

It could play VCDs when the player was working

Weakness:

C13 and NO DISC error messages! Won't play ANY disc AT ALL!!!

Hi! I'm in the US. Manhattan actually. My DVP-S360 stopped working last week! I started getting the annoying C13 error message a few months after I got the machine. But some how I could almost always manage to get it to play (eventually) DVDs by turning on and off the player. Interestingly, audio CDs were not a problem. But I can't even play CDs anymore! NO DISC error! Where can I join the class action lawsuit. NEVER will we buy another over-priced SONY product in my life!

Strength:

It was nice when new.

Weakness:

The dreaded c:13 error

Please include me in your petition for the Sony recall. I purchased a Sony DVP S-350 at Target for $249. This unit has seen limited use mostly due to the C:13 error. I''ve also got a 20" Sony TV that I''m learining is defective from the manufacturer. The tuner was never properly soldered onto the board so I have a Sony TV I can only use as a monitor and a DVD that doesn''t work. Oh, and I recently replaced my 2-year old Sony camcorder because it would just shut off when it decided to. After spending $150 on service at a Sony authorized repair center for the camcorder we scrapped it and bought another because it couldn''t be fixed. Oh, and the new camcorder?...What else? A SONY!

Strength:

Beautiful Picture, and relatively easy to use. Remote is great.

Weakness:

Shouldn''''t be having audio problems after just over a year of use.

My DVP-s360 worked flawlessly for over a year, but just recently the digital audio started cutting out intermittently during playback. Had to switch from the Toslink connection to coax to fix.

Strength:

none, a $250 piece of equipment should last at least a year.

Weakness:

dvd that won''''t play dvd. possible uses: landscaping, cutting board, ...

Enough has already been said as to the problems. I would just add that mine didn''''t start to act up until last November. At first I figured it was just a bad disc or dust. Obviously I was wrong. Besides pausing at the end of chapters, the only other problem I have is that it will not play the end of a disc. I haven''''t seen the end of the last five dvds are rented. Pretty upset that I need to go buy a new one. Definitely won''''t be a Sony.

Strength:

Good image quality, component output, when it works :(

Weakness:

Totally not working after 2 years and 200 hours of operation. Reparing is expensive.

I also have the same problems with C:13 and finally NO DISK error which bring this product in rubbish. Owned this product for 2 years. It was really expensive so I hoped it will last for years as my old SONY CD player which is still working perfect from 94. I played around 120hours of CDs and 180h of DVDs before it get broken. Really don''t know what I can do with it since fixing will be the same price of some new ones with more functions as reading MP3, CD-R, CD-RW. Hope we get some solution how to trash the garbage...
