I had all the similar problems as everybody else and just found out of all these problems a week ago. I called Sony of Canada and explained what I had read on the internet. They told me it was the optical device and offered to pay for the repair. The entire parts and labour total of $250.00. My machine is almost 2 years old and has the basic warranty. Sony is still good in my books. |

Strength:
Nice Remote
Weakness:
Obvious Design Flaw Terrible customer service in light of above My DVP-S360 has now entirely stopped working as per the reviews below. Multiple communications with Sony were futile, even though I referenced the wealth of information available here about the genesis of the problem. They offered to decrease the bill for the fix to about 120.00, but would only guarantee the unit for 30 days after the fix. Needless to say, I doubt that this would be a prudent investment. Strength:
Was fine for about a year.
Weakness:
C13 no disk error- so annoying Cannot believe this. Just got Star Wars 2 and I'm getting this C13 error. So I came to this website to check to see if this problem was common. 500+ plus reviews. The first 10 were exactly what just happened to me. Someone please contact me about the class action for possible fix. Similar Products Used: none |

Strength:
when it is working, is a nice unit
Weakness:
poorly designed signal processing circuit which causes surface mount fuse to blow. I've had the same "no disc" problem with my s560d. The s360 and s560d (among other sony models) both have the same fuse problem. Replacing the F402 fuse works but to do it right you need to replace a couple of SMD type resistors to change the current through this circuit or you will continue blowing the fuse (or damage other parts as I have seen with at least one unit). Also, if you just replace the fuse, you may continue to experience erratic playback from your DVD player. As a hobby, I fix these for 15 bucks +shipping. My www.ebay.com identity is jeakabro, contact me through that forum if interested. Good luck with the class action lawsuit! Similar Products Used: sony S560d sony S570d |

Strength:
Works fine most of the time.
Weakness:
Recently started to give the C:13:00 Error code and it's always been a bit finicky with scratched or dirty DVD's. Doesn't take much to interrupt a movie mid stream. My wife bought me the Sony DVP-S350 which I assume to be nearly the same as the S360 since we're starting to get the C:13:00 Error message. I thought it was the fault of the DVD's which I mostly rent but, having read the reviews I'm obviously suspicious of Sony quality issues. Now here I am with a new Mitsubishi WS-55511 HDTV and shopping for a new progressive scan DVD player. I was a hair away from spending nearly $700 on a Sony DVP-NS900V but, after reading the reviews on the S360 and having the same problems with my S350, I'm seriously leaning towards the Denon 1600 which I can get for $450 anyway. In hindsite, the only new TV which ever failed me prematurely was a Sony Trinitron back in the 80's so why should I pony up another $700 for a dubious Sony product? I try to research my purchases carefully and my research has brought me here. Similar Products Used: None |

PROVIDES A BITTER LESSON ON SONY PRODUCTS AND SUPPORT. THE BATTERY IN THE REMOTE WILL LAST LONGER THAN THE PLAYER. GARAGE PICK-UP IS TOMORROW.
Weakness:
YUCK!!!! MAKE SONY PAY. HURT THEM BACK. STAY AWAY AND TELL THEM "WHY YOU ARE DOING THAT". AFTER THE FUSE F402 FIX, THE PLAYER DIED AGAIN. THE FIX ONLY LASTED 1 MONTH. I EVEN PROVIDED ADDITIONAL COOLING IN THE TOP AND BOTTOM OF THE CASE. I THREW IT THE GARBAGE. IT WAS 16 MONTHS OLD WITH VERY LITTLE USE. SEE REVIEWS SEPT. 7-9 2002 I KEPT MY WORD TO SONY (AND I TOLD THEM). "SCREW THEM, THEY SEEN THE LAST OF ME". TODAY>>>>I WENT AND BOUGHT A PANNY RP82. IT'S MADE IN JAPAN NOT IN MALAYSIA. |
