I encountered the same c:13:00 error with this Sony DVD player as others have on this page. My player is about two years old and past the warranty period. I contacted Sony tech. support, explained the error and that I'd seen it listed on several web pages, and Sony fixed the player free of charge. I was down on Sony after reading about this known problem, but their service was friendly and quick (less than two weeks). If you're encountering this problem, I suggest contacting Sony. I was impressed.

Strength:

Looks good sitting with your other stereo equipment. Impresses your friends into think you have more (working) stereo equipment than you really do.

Weakness:

Very light, so it does not work well as a door stop.

I found it odd that it started displaying the C 13 00 after only having the unit for about 9 months. I assumed it was because most all DVD's I watched were from NetFlix and I just happened to get scratched ones or whatnot. Well this became progressively worse until a year later, when it would read NO DVD's whatsoever, not even ones BRAND SPANKIN NEW! Call me crazy, but isn't paying $250 for a "supposedly" high quality product a little over the top when you only get 1 to 2 years of ERRATIC use out of it before it is completely useless?? Well because my family likes to watch DVD's, I was forced to go out and buy another player, and I can guarantee you it wasn't a SONY unit (Panasonic). This was several months ago , and now I am stuck with a dead unit that would probably cost more to repair than I can go buy an equivilent one for. Doesn't Sony realize that we will all be spreading negative word-of-mouth about their products, based on experience? A lot of people ask me for advice when it comes to home audio/video and electronics. I hope something happens with this. Count me in on the class-action. This player worked great for two years and then started the C13:00 error some many of these folks have spoken about with some discs. Then it was all disks and now it says there are no disks present when you put either a CD or DVD in it. My suggestion is to buy from another manufacturer. I have bought SONY for 15 years and I can't believe I am saying this but the latest DVD and CDs are not reliable.

Strength:

Works great until the warranty expires.

Weakness:

Unable to watch movies, skips and stops when able to watch movies. Sometimese unable to forward through.

I barely used the DVD and now that its out of warranty it's broken. When I attemp to watch a DVD I get "No Disc" or the C:13 error. This DVD player sucks.

Strength:

NONE: I can't even say I enjoyed a movie on it!

Weakness:

Everything, and I paid $300 for it! It always stopped right at the good part of the movie!

DVP S360-I used it about 6 times and then I got a "C13" error and "NO Disc." After months of frustration and cleaning discs, stopping and starting movies, it finally quit and I can't play any DVD now. It's been in the repair shop for 9 months now and I have to pay $200 to fix it, not to mention the $50 I've already paid for them to do part of the work. I now have a glorified CD player, but it needs a new laser to play DVD's. I'd be better off buying a new one, but not a Sony!

Strength:

It was great while it worked - a short life though.

About 2 years old DVD player and "NO DISC" sign comes up. I have slowly replaced "SONY" products in my house with either Hitachi, or Toshiba, or Panasonic. I think it is time of think of "Sony" as the "AUDIO/VIDEO GM Corp." - once a great company on its way down. I say, stay away from "Sony" products. I just read some of the 528 reviews and I wish I had read it before I bought my DVD player. Nostalgia is an expensive hobby and unless you are rich I suggest stay away from Sony products - no joke!!!

I can't believe I bought this for $10 more than a Toshiba or Panasonic at the time because I trusted the name S-O-N-Y. PT Barnum was right... What is the deal with gttlawyers.com class action suit? anyone?

FYI: I disassembled my s360 to try the Ben Morris fix. I have MB-86 board, and the fuse was not blown, and the two resistors were both 82K (the correct value). I jumpered the fuse anyway, and it didn't fix the problem. Anyone need a doorstop? Maybe I'll hold onto it a while longer to see if the class action ever happens.

Strength:

Picture & sound quality is pretty good when it works

Weakness:

Well it's a lemon - what can I say?

I bought this player (dps360) about 20 months ago. It worked fine most of the time, although there were some C13 problem on and off - I thought it's just my discs. But now it just died a couple of days ago (showing no disc all the time), I tried clean it up as the manual said but it's no use. I was somewhat a SONY fan before (got a sony tv and a video camera), I guess not any more... Anyway I will probably open the thing up myself - not that I know how to fix it but more out of curiosity since it is out of warranty anyway.
