DVD is absolute JUNK. Sony DAVS-300, Operated and sounded fabulously, until, until, until, the warranty ran out. Good power. BAD DVD. Serves us right for buying a multifuntion. The dreaded Sony C13:00 error is now the only thing displayed when a disk is injected. Never More, I mean never Sony anymore. Class Action, I'm in. Similar Products Used: Switched all DVDs, to Panasonic and Pioneer. I work at a major Post Production facility in NY, alot of machines went into the dumpsters. This will not be tolerated. |

Good picture quality, when it worked
Weakness:
Unreliable, unreliable, unreliable I am one more to the list of unhappy Sony DVD player customer. With ocasional use, the equipment started giving problems just about 6 months after purchase with the C:13 error. I blamed it on the discs. Now, after about a year, it has stopped working all together. It gives the "No disc" error for all kinds of discs that are inserted. It is time that Sony takes the responsibility to accept the problem as a manufacturing flaw and refunds our money to us. At least I will not buy any more Sony products. JUST READ 500 OR MORE REVIEWS. IT'S JUST A LEMON. DON'T BUY IT!!!!!!!! This might help....... I found this "FIX" on audioreview for the Sony model DVP-S560 date January 4 2002 by reviewer "sonyhacker" AND HE CLAIMS IT ALSO APPLIES TO THE DVP-S360 and many other Sony lemons. I haven't tried it yet, BUT I'M GOING TO SEE IF IT DOES. |

decent sound and video, when it worked
Weakness:
was never reliable, and now dead. I whole heartedly agree with the rest of you. Had the product for 20 months with minimal use, (used my trusy old JVC cd player for audio CDs, which is now 15 yrs old) and it is now totally dead. When it did work, it restarted movies constantly, and just skipped a lot, C13:00 and no disk errors frequently, but the most annoying was the skipping and restarting movies at random. POS. Stay away from SONY products Unfreakin' believable! I can only say, ME TOO! Went looking for a solution to this very same problem and came across this site. This is absolute bulls*%@! There are 517 reviews on this site and all say the same thing. Like everyone else thought it was the disks. Until I started having the NO DISK and C:13 problems with brand new DVDs. These were flawless disks with not a scratch, figerprint, hair, piece of dust, etc. Nothing, I mean NOTHING wrong with them. Called customer service got the same runaround. Like alot of you, I have all Sony products. Never again. Something needs to be done. They shouldn't be allowed to get away with this. I got about a year and a half out of mine before it started messing up. Now I just stand there and yell at it when it doesn't work. Count me in on the lawsuit as well. Good picture.
Weakness:
BAD audio output for audio CDs. I mean not via the analog, but even via the digital optical out. I had a 10 yr old Sony CD player which had a better audio optical out. Difference is clear on my high end audio system. Similar to other bad experiences here. After 4 months it broke, we had hardly even seen 10 movies. Fortunately it was still under warranty (Normally Sony gives 90 days warranty, I was surprised to find that the warranty on this player was 1 yr pars and labor. Did Sony know it was selling a lemon?). Anyway took it to an authorized ctr ...laser pickup was gone. It took Sony 2mths to send the part and for us to get the machine back. |

Great picture and easy to use, while it lasted. Looks impressive sitting on top of my 32" JVC television.
Weakness:
It no longer works. I have had this player for almost two years. I have received the C-13 message and I now receive the message "no disc" when there is clearly a disc inserted. Because the player is now past the "warranty period" Sony offered to have it serviced at the low, low cost of only $176.00. Please! I will use that money to purchase a different brand of DVD player.
