Strength:

Good well it lasted

Weakness:

Same errors as everyone else

Piece of Crap is giving me the same problems as everyone else. What makes it worse is I have 2 of them. I've thought about selling one that sort of works but I'd feel bad taking peoples money, what a POS.

Strength:

Size, AC3 built-in decoder

Weakness:

Good for garbage

Same problem as everybody else. It lasted me about 30 months. Started freezing some movies, than C13:00 on others and finally no disc on others. Don't buy it. Never give it as a gift to someone ... you won't make friends.

Strength:

Has a built in 5.1 channel processor for excellent sound.

Weakness:

Sounds doesn't matter if you can't watch a DVD.

I am very disappointed in this product. It does not meet Sony standards by a long shot. I have received C 13 00 errors on new DVD's. I have tried the Auto adjustments, which work for a DVD or two before you have to do it again. This product should be recalled. I doubt I'll ever buy another Sony DVD player again.

Weakness:

Should be recalled...it is defective

Like many others my 560D has crashed showing "no disk" . The problems have gotten progressively worse over the past year and now it no longer functions.

I now want to take Sony to consumers court. First time it broke (c13) it was under warranty, meaning try to go through all your files to find the receipt, drive to the BIG city missing office, and pick it up after 15 days. Next time it broke (c13) just a few weeks after warranty expires, Again trip to the Big City, $170 to fix was the estimate. Called up Sony and went thru their customer care process, they agreed to fix it, had to mail THIS THING to their support center. came back in 2 weeks. Now since last week my DVD player has gained some aritificial intelligence, it goes into Standy By mode while playing a movie. First few I thought I must have stepped on the remote's power button or something similar. Today I realized that it is the player itself. The remote was far away. I want to take Sony to consumers court. I am very dissappointed that they have not issued a recall on this product. I have respect for Sony's products since I own a trinitron and a excellent sony vcr and an awesome sony mini dv camcorder. I am a very frustrated man now :( Do you guys have any solution to this going to stand by mode problem?

Strength:

Works great for 2 years!

Weakness:

Only works for 2 years!

Two years ago my crappy Panasonic dvd player dropped dead. I did my homework and read glowing reviews of the Sony DVPS560. Now here I am 2 years later with another piece of crap. It started skipping then quit working altogether. The tray won't even open. The good folks at Sony have offered to fix it for a mere $132.00. (almost half the purchase price) Guess I'll be shopping for a new player soon. Very disappointing.

Strength:

Nice look

Weakness:

Don´t even have to mention .....

Same problem as everybody else. It lasted me about 15 months. Started freezing some movies, than c13 on others and finally no disc on others. Took it to get fixed, and was charged about US$130 to change the optic reader. Didn´t fix it and bought a Pioneer 355 for about US$170. Will try to get in touch with Sony and see if they do something ..... CAN I GIVE A RATING "0" ?

Strength:

Lots of set-up options.

Weakness:

Needs stronger cabinet. It is strange that you cannot stack other components on it.

I have owned the DVP-S560D for two years and only had a problem when another component stacked on top of it. My brother began having problems with his Sony (different model) when he stacked his digital cable box on top of it. My advice is to put you DVD player on top or on it's own shelf by itself and see what happens. I hope that I do no jinx myself and my DVP-S560D by writting this rewiew. I have always bought Sony products, except my tv, which is a Hitachi. Sony has always made quality products and I will continue buying Sony component electronics.

Weakness:

Won't hold up for the long haul. Not worth buying if you value your money.

Throw me in the bucket. 23 1/2 months and now the No Disc message. I've only watched about 70 dvd's so I was not a heavy user. Pretty steep per movie $$. Only had a few skips before it went out.

Strength:

until this problem it was a good player

Weakness:

Low signal to noise ratio causing some movies to be harder to hear and was using on a denon 4800 with a poa 5200 amp and a mitsubishi flat plasma screen.

AAAAHHHH the same problem as everyone else but i have not gotten any error code or no disk yet! But skipping like mad and stopping right in the middle of my movies. When i bought this player i knew very little about video or audio, now i know a great amount more. Just to let some know sony has an entirely different line called es standing for elevated standard and yes it is very good, in my opinion its not a denon or arcam or krell but its much better than standard sony lines, make sure though that the player does not have the scan bug which when watching animated movies there are big red lines in the video and contrast is poor. But i may yet be able to keep this player for my roomates if i can fix the fuse problem.
