Strength:

The Best Center Speaker for the $$$

Weakness:

Size - really too big and weigh heavy than most of the center speaker in the market.

I've just purchased this speaker and can't wait to test with my favorite DVD - Saving Private Ryan. It really sounds different from what I had experienced; very detail dialouqe and all the detail sound effects filled with my decent size listening room (12x15ft). I have to reset my center level to 0 (used to be +5db) caused it is too loud. I have a matched Venturi V604 in front which i think is too weak when compared with this center speaker. The DV62CLR even produces more bass than my front speakers.
Overall, this is an excellence center speaker that I ever heard although I have not heard manies.
Note: this is a very big center speaker, if anybody want to place it in top of TV, you must be make sure you have a 40+ inches TV to place with.

Hi Folks,

I researched and listened to various speakers for months before finally deciding to go with the Polk cs400i. I had also decided to go with the Polk rt55is for the fronts, Polk f/x500s for the rears, and a Velodyne CT-120 as a sub. All of this was going to be matched to a Harman Kardon AVR110 receiver (see my review on it as well) in my brand new home. A new home theater set-up was going to be a little present to myself for getting the new home and doing all the improvements that I wanted to make. Well, after getting the house and shelling out literally thousands and thousands of dollars for ceramic tile, granite countertops, recessed lighting, custom moldings, etc... the budget I had remaining was a bit thin to cover the $2000+ I had envisioned for speakers. Although I could have waited and saved the necessary money in a few months, I didn't really want to wait. So while trying to find the lowest prices on Polk I could find, I stumbled across Ubid.com. While they weren't selling Polk, out of curiousity, I checked out the various brands of speakers being sold and then ran across the BIC 62CLR. I read the reviews here and some other places, and decided to take a chance... hell, it was only $49 plus shipping, so if it wasn't good, I'd either sell it or move it to the bedroom. Well, I got the speaker and set it up on top of the big screen and all I could say was WOW! This thing sounded VERY much like the Polk... dual 6.5" polypro cones, great tweeter, very large in sound stage and very accurate. I couldn't believe what I was hearing for my $79 total investment. INCREDIBLE! So impressed was I that I ordered two more to use as the front left and right speakers! These things are 25 inches wide, so not everyone will be able to do this, but my entertainment center fit them in just right. I also ordered a pair of BIC 52si($19 each) for the rears and a BIC 1210 12" sub($69). Again, I figured I didn't have much to lose... the total invested for the ENTIRE speaker package (including shipping) was about $425!!! That is just about the price of just the Polk center channel!!! This system sounds MAGNIFICENT... perfect timber matching from the 3 identical front speakers, incredible sound stage, accurate reproduction of both music and home theater sources, perfect dialogue even amidst thundering LFE production. I cannot begin to tell you folks how utterly happy I am with these speakers. You absolutely, positively, CANNOT find a better value in the speaker industry... go buy one now... you'll thank me and the other reviewers later. Wonderful center channel speaker and a mind-boggling value!!!

LOW PRICE

I have been researching about 3 months to get a nice hometheater system. I narrowed down to Bose Acoustimass 15 speakers. I checked this system at Sears and Circuitcity; I was not impressed. Sound quality is very poor: bass-very weak for the subwoofer & satellite speakers are tiny and produce no bass…definitely overpriced.
A friend of mind suggested I should check audioreview.com. I'm glad I did and thanks to those who posted their reviews on this site. I checked bicamerica.com; they posted info about their products and DV62CLR speaker has been rated "Best Buy". Bic doesn't have a distribution retailer in my area, so I've decided to take leap of faith based on their earnings "Top Industry Ratings". I was willing to take the risk and bought Bic speakers without actually listening to them. After I hooked them up to my Sony receiver and Sony DVD plauyer for the 18'x 24' room…WOW… I was astonished at how awesome they sounded for the total price paid $430 (w/ shipping). Not just the DV62CLR center speaker produces awesome sound, the four Adatto DV52Si speakers used for surround sound w/ the 12" V1210R 200 Watt Powered Subwoofer added a perfect match. I am a little disappointed with the subwoofer, once awhile I hear a clicking sound, but for the price $119 with 200w amplified..I can't complaint.

Complete Hometheater system setup for 18'x24' room (Total Paid approx.
$1100)

Strength:

Sound, value for $; support; warrantee(7 yrs)

Weakness:

none that I can tell...I wish they were made in a first world country...

Note: model year is really unknown but I just got it so I guess it's recent.

Note #2: I mentioned that great BIC customer service: Some folks are pushing certain modifications to these speakers. I asked Jeff White over with them about this & he said they tried 'em out over there & didn't hear any improvement: k he's from BIC so perhaps you believe he's biased, but what he also said that was notable was that such changes will VOID the WARRANTY!!!

Note #3: I was a musician in my youth so I'd like to qualify my being a 'casual listener' to being one with I'd like to think a rather 'good' pair of ears...(only 'casual' because I'm afraid that any of the other categories would make me sound either rich enough to actually BE that thing or 'hoity toity'--no offense, I hope to more 'avid' audiophiles...)

What can I say that hasn't been said?

Well I'll have to say SOMETHING to reach the 50 word minimum, however I really just wanted to say that I LOVE THESE SPEAKERS!!!
(-all of 'em -sans any modification)

I'm still particularly impressed w/my towers 'cause the sound is so warm & the bass so good.

The only things I've heard to compare w/these guys is (again)Wharfedale but I'm glad I got these instead of theirs as in the
final analysis(sp -help!-no spellcheck on this system!!...)-well they have a 'rock' rep.& I'm more of a classical/home theater sort of person.

I was hoping they'd be made in the U.S.A. but, -well what can one do on a budget?

At least they were designed & engineered here & I'm told the workers are in tolerable conditions...

One 62CLR center specific comment: the unit is large, as noted by some people.

My system is too high, I think (& certainly too 'tippy' here in earthquake country!)what w/the tv stand & turntable
on top of it so I've put it on it's end somewhat behind the towers & also the 'monitor'(27" Samsung see my review?)which is ok according to the manufacturer, tho' not to my aesthetic taste.

I have them hooked with various gagues of monster cable to a JVC 6008VBK receiver
I also got for a similar price at ubid as well as my other speakers.

There is a JVC s-vhs & a Panasonic vhs vcr also w/a Terk antenna.(powered)

Oh! -almost forgot: my latest aquisition & the reason I'm eating oatmeal this week:

BIC DV52si indoor/outdoor speakers for the balcony which haven't even been out of the box yet as I can't afford cables...

Well I actually have a bit left on a circuit city merchandise card, but I'm hoping to use that as part of a trade for a BIC 1210r powered subwoofer.

Play on!

But please remember the folks who aren't as fortunate as yourselves & help(!)

I feel guilty just having this 'cheap' stuff...

Parting note: the only reason I didn't give these 5 stars was because it said: 'better than I imagined' whereas what w/my other BICs I knew what to expect...

Strength:

LOW COST. I have a mixed system; but this Center matches well with my AR main, both in looks and sound.

Weakness:

Need to break in a bit.

Great sounding speaker for the price. Not dissapointed. This is an all around great center channel speaker. Get one while they last on ubid -- I am not hyping here. You can get a better center, but you will pay much much more than what they are going for on Ubid. I am running this with a 250 watt/channel Sunfire 5 channel amp, with a infinity 1000W woofer (also from ubid), AR status 8 as the mains. I might try Klipsh for the rears because I am not happy with the AR rear options.

Strength:

Bass output that embarrasses most of its competitors

Weakness:

Too Large for mounting on top of a television

Got mine for 109 dollars from Netmarket. Nothing else touches it for triple the price. The negatives are all ergonomic (the grill is hard to remove) and the overall size limits where it can be mounted.
