Strength:

Relatively cheap, great sound, good looks, huge.

Weakness:

None.

I bought this without listening largely due to positive reviews by this site and home and theater: "best center speaker I ever heard" which was reviewed by an audiophile. I'm not an audiophile but it sure sounds good to me. Bass is strong even when I turned off 15" subwoofers. Midrange is very wide and crisp making dialogue very nice and clear. High is bright but not harsh even at high volumes. No distortion what so ever at high volumes. Build quality is top notch (it weighs about 27#): 5-way binding posts, 2 rear ports, poly 6.5" cones X 2 and 1" silk tweet, removable, durable grill. I've had this over 6 months of nightly use with TV and movies and never had a problem. VSS-electronics.com had the best price ($129 with shipping included) and got to me in 7 days UPS. Ubid has it too but after shipping it may end up more and will take a lot longer (their shipping charge is very high--$1 per pound for ground shipping). I have this with Wharfedales MFM-7 X 2 for fronts, Wharfedales Opal 50 X 2 for rears, and Audiosource 15" 200 wts subwoofer + Jensen MS500 15" 500 watts subwoofer. Even with subwoofers off, the HT speakers sounds great. With subwoofers on, the neighbors hate me :-) Please buy this, you won't regret it. Plus there is 7 year warranty and great tech support (toll-free) if you needed. It is assembled in China but parts are made in Ohio. Heck even my Wharfedales (British parts) are made in China too--cheaper labor. I highly recommend the Wharfedale brand too. I think all there models are above average. Good luck.

This speaker rocks. I recently purchased this speaker at ubid.com and would have to say it is worth every penny. I was looking into purchasing the Polk 400i because nothing in the stores around here even come close to the sound of that speaker. After purchasing the BIC DV62CLR I would have to say that it matches my speakers perfectly and sounds probably very close to the Polk. I can't say that it is better or worse until I set them side-by-side. I found it interesting that it has the same size of main speakers and the tweeter type as the Polk audio speaker although it has a better frequency response. It is a very large and heavy center channel speaker, but I wouldn't think of this as a weakness at all after hearing it.
I purchased this speaker because of other reviews on this website and have not regretted that decision at all. I thought that it might be over rated until I plugged it in. My recommendation is to go to ubid and purchase any they might have.

Strength:

everything this speaker performs flawlessley

Weakness:

size for some people but not for me.

this speaker is without a doubt the best center speaker under $800.00 dollars just read the previous reviews. i bought the new slim size 63clr on ubid.com I wouldn't really call it small but that is a good thing.. This speaker has tremendous power that is only matched by the klipsch rb5 which my friend has and that speaker cost him 925.00 dollars what a rip. This speaker is very clear even right out of the box there was no brightness, very good bass response with 2 bass tubes in the back. what makes this speaker so good is the price and the fact that it is vidoe shielded plus it has monster cable connectors built into the speaker. So just go out and buy one you will be extremly pleased.

Strength:

SOUND! APPEARENCE! LOOKS VERY NICE ON A SHELF!

Weakness:

None, size is not a problem if the sound is perfect.

I am a BIC america distributor, and my system is all BIC america speakers-i bought this about 8 months ago, and it was the 2nd to last speaker addition to my system. All i needed after this were the DV5312 towers with the amps. I ended up with the DV-62si speakers in the rear, the DV62CLR speaker in the front, and the DV5312 towers with the amps in front. This was the best sounding speaker system i have ever heard for under $1000...it just blew away BOSE and infinity to my opinion. This center channel speaker has been cranked all the way up on my Onkyo TX-DS777 receiver watching Gone in 60 Seconds, and the sound clarity was amazing, with no distortion. I never noticed a significant amount of bass out of it since i had 2 12" subs in my fronts, although the same speakers (Dual 6 1/2" woofers and 3/4" tweeter) are in the DV736 towers made by BIC, and those towers sound fabulous, with rich bass (down to 30Hz.!!) and crystal clear highs. If you are interested in this Center channel speaker, i can get you a new one for $160 shipped anywhere in the lower 48 states. This is a good price for the speaker, because it doesnt even compair to $500 center speakers. Overall, i love the sound, appearence (black ash, which shines and sparkles in light) and the value for the price! Now you know why BIC america's slogan= ***Certified BEST value performance!*** MY SYSTEM:
**BIC america DV62CLR center speaker
**BIC america DV62si bookshelf speaker pair (rears)-MY FAVORITE BOOKSHELF SPEAKER EVER!!!! NICE SPEAKER!!!!
**Cerwin Vega VS-120 (fronts) soon to be replaced by another pair of either DV62si, or DV736 towers.
**Onkyo TX-DS777 receiver, would like to buy Yamaha RX-V995 (onkyo receiver is too bright sounding, and there are a few options on it i dotn like about it, ex. when i am in 5 ch. stereo and turn up the BASS control, it only controls the front 2 speakers bass, and not the center or surrounds)
**Yamaha M-65 amplifier for the fronts (the cerwin's need all the power they can get)
**Sony S-560D DVD player
**2000 model Samsung 32" TV

Strength:

These produce great sound and don't distort. They are perfect for someone who wants good sound, but is on a budget. They are small but put out more than enough sound for me!

Weakness:

Not great with the radio.

I use these mainly for games and movies. My games are brought to life to a level that I have never heard. I have been missing a lot all these years! The quintets accurately reproduce everything you were meant to hear. DVDs are great and TV is as well. Their only flaw is that the Quintets don't reproduce radio sound so well. But that could be error on my own part.
The subwoofer is excellent. It is amazingly accurate, and not boomy at all. It fills the basement and provides the bass I love. If only they made car subwoofers...!

ps -- These speakers are my dads... so I am looking for a set of my own. Does anyone know where to get a 5-piece setup (no sub) for $330 or less?

Strength:

Excellent range!!! Full, rich sound. Terrific build quality.

Weakness:

large enclosure, heavy!!(but this is a good thing)

After reading all the reviews about this speaker I just had to have one. I wanted this speaker so bad that I postponed the purchase of a subwoofer for my system just so I can get it. And what a difference it has made. Look at the specs., this speaker is capable of going down to 38Mhz. I have not been able to find any other C-speaker to go this low at this price. "...but you get those lows with your subwoofer dude." True, but it's not localized and has no direction. I am now hearing subtle details that I never heard before with my previous C-speaker. The BIC matched perfectly with the large main speakers, adding a fullness and spacious sound. Everything you've read about this speaker in these reviews is true, this thing rocks!!
The model I recieved from UBID was the newer "S" model that is supposed to be more compact, I would hate to see the other model 'cause this booger is big! If you don't have much room above or below your tv this may not work for you.
The only thing left to do now is sneak in a subwoofer under my wife's nose. When the BIC arrived she asked me if this was the last one and I sheepishly said no and that its only a replacement. Wish me luck.

Strength:

Deep bass for a center channel, video shielding, very clear dialogue and an insanely low price tag.

Weakness:

build quality could be better, they could have done more with the cosmetics of the unit.

Simply put, this is the best center channel for under $500.00 that I have ever heard!!!! And it will beat a couple of others in the $600+ price ranges. I've read the other reviews and yes it is big, but not that big!!! It fits fine on top of my old RCA Home Theatre 27" tv and the video shielding works perfectly. The two things I noticed about this speaker right off the bat were clarity and bass extension. This speaker was clear and bright without being in your face or tinny and the bass extension, this center channel has a lower bottom end than any other for under $600.00 period!!! I have watched Saving Private Ryan, The Matrix, Star Wars Episode 1 and Fantasia 2000. All very different movies and all very revealing to speaker flaws. The Bic v62clr performed openly and admirably I kept shaking my head thinking I only paid $89, $109 with shipping, for this speaker!!! From the shell casings hitting the ground in Private Ryan to the Empire Battling the Naboo in episode 1 to Charities kick in The Matrix this speaker gets it all. If your speakers are Canton, Dahlquist, madison audio, or tannoy this center should blend perfectly I have dahlquist, which for the money aren't bad either, and they were a near perfect timbre match. If your company uses vifa drivers, and these do, it should blend beautifully.
This is a permanent edition to my Home theatre!!!
If you don't have a lot of money but want to sound like you do BUY THIS CENTER CHANNEL!!!!!!!!
