This review is for the CCv2. I have owned the CC-350 as well and listened to the CC-170 and CC-370 in my set up also. I can say that the Studio CC is a wonderful product and a good match to the Studio series from Paradigm. Compared to the CC-350, there is greater detail, transparency and truth to the sound coming from this speaker. Fantastic value and adds an extra dimension to the DVD experience. Strength:

Deep, rich and clear sound when powered properly. Need big amp to drive this thing. Its heavy and clearly built well. Able to be bi-wired or bi-amped.

    Weakness:

It is designed to fire at a slight angle up, clearly it is meant to sit BELOW the TV or screen. However I don't have the room for this so it sits on top of the TV and aims up over my head. :( Someday I'll get a bigger place.

I purchased my Studio CC center with a pair of Paradigm Monitor 11's back in February and have been very happy overall - but I always thought something was lacking. I was powering my whole theater with a Marantz SR7000 and wasn't getting the detail and richness out of the Studio CC that I'd heard in a demo with a CC-370. The dealer I demo'd at was using a much more powerful Yamaha amp so I concluded I just wasn't giving it enough juice to bring the speaker to its full potential. It did sound great though, don't get me wrong. Just not superb like I thought it should. Well I recently decided to upgrade the front 3 speakers in my system with Marantz monoblocks and they have all suddenly come alive. I'm running the Studio CC from a Marantz MA700 200 watt monoblock and it rocks. Gladiator DTS is my test dvd and it sounds amazing. The voices are full and rich, lots of deep bass and perfect highs. The voices just sound real and intense. What an improvement. Apocalypse Now, Black Hawk Down and even crappy DVDs just come alive with great voices from the Studio CC. Very happy with my speaker and I didn't break the bank with it. I used to use Polk speakers and this just crushes them. However a good powerful amp and good pre-amp are clearly a must. I don't care for the styling of this speaker much but the lights are off during movies anyway so whatever.... Strength:

Price, solid build, speaker just disappears

    Weakness:

Due to size/weight, could be a problem with respect to placement for some home theater setups.

First, a brief note of thanks to those whom have shared their experiences with their equipment. Very professional and informative. The story began with the purchase of the Paradigm Monitor 7v2, CC-370 center speaker, a Pioneer VSX-D810S AV receiver, and a Pioneer DV 440 DVD/CD player. After break-in (playing the radio for >100 hours), and trying different placements in my 20’x20’x9’ room, I decided that I could now do some critical listening. My main CD is Eric Clapton Unplugged using the DV 440 and my main DVD is the Matrix. These speakers seemed a bit bright and did not give me the enveloping sound that I was hoping for. It seemed that my 15 year old Paradigms (7se) sounded somewhat better. As is apparently the norm in this hobby, I upgraded. First was the receiver - the Denon AVR 3802 and, as expected, that definitely ‘rounded’ out the brightness to the point that my wife noticed an immediate improvement. Not quite right still, I thought to myself. Having seen the Studio Series products at the dealer but at the time not willing to put that much money into my speakers, I decided to actually go and listen to them with my CD. What can I say that has not been published by professional reviewers or by the people on this board? I am not an audiophile (yet), but the sound was much more enveloping (soundstage?) and real when compared directly with the Monitor 7v2 and CC-370. I traded my Monitors (including the CC-370) for the Studio 60v2 and Studio CC and have broken them in with the radio again for >100 hours. This is the sound that I was hoping for. The sound from the center channel is simply life-like when playing DD or DTS DVD tracks. My recommendation to those who are thinking of purchasing a Monitor Series product is to listen to the Studio Series and think about it for a couple of days. This might prevent buyer’s remorse. As a side note, this speaker actually weigh 25 lbs. and not 32 lbs. as stated in the brochure. This is according to my weigh scale at home and confirmed by the shipping department at Paradigm. Strength:

Realism (musical instuments sound like they should, Voices are clean and clear) Plays loud without a complaint.

    Weakness:

None I''ve found. I believe one of the reasons this product is so capable is because of it''s size, so NO complaints about that.

Thia is an excellent product. After reading reviews on several CC''s I went out and auditioned the promising ones. I even dragged my old CC (a B&W) so that I had a good reference. The Paradigm Reference Studio was the winner by a good margin. Go out and listen for yourself.....you''ll agree. The price above was paid in Canadian tax not included.

I just bought this speaker from Soundshop in Hampton, Va. Actually, I traded my CC 170 with this speaker due to the raves and reviews from this site. So when I got to the dealer, I auditioned this one and compared it to the CC 170. After 30 minutes of listening to this speaker, I talked to the salesman, and decided that I have to get this one and traded my CC 170. I took it home and pulled it out of the box, I turned my DVD player and put on Gladiator. As I was watching the movie, my wife walked into the room and was amazed to the sound coming from the Studio CC and she thought that Russell Crow were talking to her and it sound so real. I was glad that I traded the CC-170 before it reaches one year expiration of trading policy from the same store. I''m still breaking it in, and each time I turned it on, it sounded better and better. I highly recommend this center speaker. A little expensive but worth the money. You won''t regret it. This center will stay with me even if I have to move to a bigger house with a bigger home theater room.

I purchased this speaker because my Optimus Center speaker from Radio Shack was falling off in sound plus it didn''t match my system very well. This speaker is defenetly High end without the price tag.Do yourself a favor if your into this Home Theater hobby save some money and get something nice because if you don''t you''ll regreted and end up paying more money at the end just like me,but I''ve learned my lesson. This speaker you have hear it to belive it highs are never to bright and lows are never harsh or boomy this speaker makes everything come through very natural and warm without ever making anything sound colored or muffled. Even for music this speaker is great blends in very nicely with the rest of your system. It''s quite big so make sure you measure your space before you buy anything! it not that big but it isn''t small either.Like all Paradigm speakers it takes some time to break in but this isn''t a weakness infact I think its part of its strenth.I only have one problem in my system my front speakers are JBL Studio Monitor 310 they''re not bad but they dont match my center now, oh well I''ll Just go down to Sound City again and buy the Studio 60''s I already have the PW-2200 and my next buy would be the surrounds.

Extremely Clear, Great Overall sound (Hi''s and Low''s), Very Reasonable Price.

    Weakness:

Long Break in Period (But all speakers are the same, so it aint really a weakness)

The most incredible center channel I have heard. I was running a low end CC170 before which wasnt bad, but i just wanted something a bit better. When i got this baby, it was alot more than a BIT better. It blew away everything i have heard before. I just couldnt believe the sound that was coming out of this thing. The other great thing i noticed was that the more i used it, the better it sounded (as with all speakers) and it sounds better every time i listen to it. I recogmend this speaker to anyone and everyone. Paradigm has done it again.

    Strength:

Good bass output, good detail, wide dynamic range

    Weakness:

    None I have encountered

I purchased the Studio CC over a CC-450. I was able to listen to both side by side on the same TV with the same material (Fifth Element). There was a subtle but definite difference, the Studio CC sounded more natural. Voices sounded as if the actors were standing in the room with you. So I went with the Studio CC, even though the CC-450 was $75.00 cheaper.

    My System:

    Amplifiers: Yamaha AX-570 Stereo Amplifier
    Yamaha DSPE-492 Three channel Amplifier
Front L/R: Paradigm Reference Eclipse Bipolar towers
    Surround L/R: Paradigm Atoms
    Center: Paradigm Reference Studio CC
    Sub: Sony SW-10

This center channel fits well with my system because it is all Paradigm. With all three front speakers set to LARGE, you are hit with a wall of sound, very deep bass, and clear articulate dialogue with Movie material. I have recently been using my center channel to listen to music using Dolby Pro-Logic surround. The center keeps up with my mains, and produces solid bass. This is a fairly large speaker, it just fits perfectly on top of my 27" TV. I have bi-wired the center, but since I never had it single wired, I cannot tell how much of a difference it made. Like all speakers, it sounds better after a good break-in period.

This is the best sounding center channel I have heard. I auditioned PSB, Infinity, and Energy. I would recommend this center channel to anyone, and would recommend Paradigm speakers in general for their outstanding price/performance.

    Strength:

    Highly detailed and clear sound.

    Weakness:

Not that attractive compared to other speakers in the studio reference line.
    Larger than normal binding posts.
    Big and heavy

In all honesty i did not really audition the center channel. What I did audition was the Studio 60's for my mains. However, one of the reasons that the Paradigms were tops on my list were all the great reviews including for the Studio CC. So after hearing the Studio 60's I just got the set with Studio ADP's for the surrounds and a PW-2200 subwoffer. Though this is my first HT system I couldn't be happier with the speakers. The Studio CC is especially clear and crisp but not overly bright or fatiguing. I find myself using it alot with music as wele as movies since my receiver has 5 channel stereo (Denon 3300).
Things to look out for... as I stated this speaker is big and heavy so make sure you have room and a stable platform for it first. I had to modify my entertainment center to make room for it. Also not as attractive as some of the other speakers, but I guess it was made to be inconspicuous. Another minor glitch was in connecting my Aucoustic Research spade connectors. It seemed that the binding posts were a little too big in all the speakers. All that was needed however, was to spread the tongs out a little on the spade connectors(gently with pliers.) May not be a problem with other brands of connectors and certainly not with bannana plugs or straight wire.
Still the Studio CC sounds great and the price won't break the bank. What more could you want? Do yourself a favor and put this on your list of speakers to listen to.

    Strength:

Very musical center channel speaker, bi-amp, bi-wire capable.

    Weakness:

    Silly grills on the sides...

Having stepped up from the cc170, I had high expectations for the studio center channel speaker. The 6.5 midranges and tweeter are extreemly sonicaly close in performance to the drivers in the studio series with the exception of the studio 80. I am a bigger music fan than a movie fan and that is good thing if you are watching a concert dvd. I was blown away by the overall musical sound that this center channel speaker has. With dvd audio just around the corner, the studio cc will most likely impress me just as much as it has in the past. Movies sound great with the studio cc, and speech has a remarkable clarity that so many lesser priced center channels fall short on. If you have a set of Studio series speakers and love movies, check out the studio cc. It is a solid preformer and at a mear 500 beans MSRP, it won't break the bank.
