Speakers, in my opinion, are supposed to enhance your listening exp. be it Home theater or a good John Williams soundtrack. They should sound good but but just as importantly look good safe to say these speakers do both. Now for the vitals, these three way monitor speakers deliver some quality sound. The reasons for the sonic enjoyement are the gold colored metal dome tweeter, the trademark yellow Kevlar mid and the solid bass delivered from two bass drivers. They look impressive with the grille off and refined with it on. Included are two sets of gold binding posts on the back so bi-amping or bi-wiring is an option if you want to. They create a very enveloping soundstage though not though this soundstage sounds even better when used with the 601s as rears. The highs can be a bit harsh but the mids are very smooth. |

I go through sound ststems like most people go through wardrobes. In the last 15 yers, I have changed or upgraded speakers, amps, etc as much as 10 times. I'm not a wealthy person (far from it) but I do love the purity of clean natural sound. I have had my current system for over a year now which consists of the B&W 604's, harman kardon AVR 25 mk11 and the FL 8450 cd player. The quality of sound is remarkable and I have no intension of changing or upgrading for a long time. |

Who cares what others think or say? I say, if it sounds good to you, it's all that matters. I bought the DM604's (and believe me, in South African currency, it cost me a bundle) and I can't begin to describe what I "saw", yes what I "saw". Therefore their slogan "listen and you will see". My advice to anyone out there, you cannot make a mistake on the DM604's. Don't let your judjement be clouded by others, listen for yourself. |

I own these overpriced B&W garbages for more than a year. I got nothing but listening fatigue. I thought it was caused by my electronics, then I switched my electronics to tube gears. Guess what? NO improvement.Recently, I borrowed a pair of Sound dynamic R818 from my buddy. It blew these B&W garbages away gracefully. The SD R818 is hard to find, I have to settle with something with similar design from PSB (PSB-800i). Thanks to PSB for bringing back music to my life. |

DM 604s...basically, these speakers perform as others in the price range. Bass is good, but listeners or owners have to wisely adjust the placement of the speakers and the foams B&W provides, otherwise the bass is too broad and unrealistic. The Kevlar mid-range is great. However, the tweter is too noisy. Is it because of the metal tweter, or the frequency, or the power amplifier's watts? Anyway, DM604s are great---if the owners are wise in speakers placement. |

I bought my DM 604 six months ago to partner it with a Marantz KI-signature amplifier and CD-player. I absolutely love the performance from the Keflar mid-range and the tweeter (drums and timpani are magnificently realistic), but bass keeps troubling me a little. I have them single-wired to the amp with Supracable (first I had some cheap Bandridge copper/silver cable, but bass got so blurred that I almost blew my walls up and neighbours out). These are very fine speakers but they use a lot of space in my living room, it is very very essential that you move them at least 4 feet from the backwall and side walls. Experimenting is rather difficult since they are incredibly heavy. Bass remains critical but I don't dare to biwire them, because I think that if resistance between amp and speaker is reduced bass might get a bit tighter but also louder thereby blurring the smoothness and clearness from midrange and tweeter. Concluding: you can buy them but you need to:1) Make sure you have enough space |

3 days ago I finally got my DM604 and, wow, I'm very impressed. The DM604 will mainly be used as the main-speakers in my home-theater-setup. I used the DM601 before (now they are my "new" rear-speakers) and the difference is unbelievable. The image built by the DM604 is very precise, if you close your eyes you forget that there are speakers in front of you. Bass response is good, too, and although I have been using a powered sub the DM604 sounds great even without the sub. When listening to plain music (without surround etc.) I won't use the sub anymore, the DM604 simply does a great job on its own. |

I put in three months of research & dozens of auditions to zero in on a sweet sounding speaker within my price range. The 604's clarity, tight bass, warm midrange and not too bright highs sold me. Positioning, as with any speaker, is crucial; you need some room to get them out from the wall or the bass gets blurry. They need more power than what I now have but that will be remedied soon. Overall, I am very pleased with B&W and the 604! |
