Strength:

LOUD!! (if you have the stuff!)

Weakness:

Not made for classical music (but who likes it anyway?)

I've had the AT 15's at least 10 years. I bought them because I knew I would blow my Paradigm 9SE's with the new Carver TFM-42 I bought. I knew the Paradigms couldn't handle the 375 watts per channel the 42 handed out but no problem with the AT 15's....my neighbors used to say, I heard ZZ, Zepplin and Santana last night (I don't live in an apartment)....what more can you ask from some kick-ass stereo speakers?....I have used the AT 15's with several receivers (Marantz, Pioneer, Yamaha, Sansui, Harmon Kardon) but until you hook these things up to a real amp (another Carver) (I regret selling the 42).... you can't imagine the difference!...yes, I am still using the AT 15's.... using a Carver M-1.5t (350 watts per channel)...no more receivers! (they suck!)....I know there are much better speakers and amps out there but if you want some loud whup-ass rock & roll, you can't beat this setup!....just beware of the neighbors!....

Strength:

strong low freq, ultimate bass boxes

Weakness:

cabinet molding ( ive had the sides explode off and had to have a pro cabinet maker re-seal them

these are the best speaker ive ever had for bass, ive even put them in my bronco for a while but couldnt handle the brused ribs, so now i just have them next to a wall in my room ( dont even need to put these babys in a corner for that low bass - but when i did have them in a corner i broke my room window and the next door's guys kitchen window!! if you want some custom bass c.d.'s just email me and we'll talk bout it. i do custom bass c.d.'s for cars and trucks and audio production.

If you are considering cerwin vegas you are obviously into bass and a speaker that can operate at high levels. But I still have to fault the
clarity and imaging of which there is none. If you want good bass but
might be interested in moving up from hot dogs to hamburgers try listening
to a set of pinnacle gold refernce speakers.

I have owned my at-15's for almost 10 years now, they survived college and countless parties, and I must say how pleased I am with these speakers. I recently decided to upgrade to "better speakers" and went to hear the pinnacle aerogel towers. They were running on a 300 wt. sunfire amp. I was surprised that these speakers sounded no better than my at-15's running on a pioneer 105 wt receiver. I decided thanks but no thanks, instead I bought thr sunfire 300 wt amp and man, it is like I have new speakers. I realize CV's are for rock music but please if you have never heard cerwin vega hooked up to a quality amplifier dont judge the book by the cover. the bass is tighter than ever. i noticed the pinnacle woofer almost jumping out of the speaker, but the vega just shakes comfortable at LOUD levels. I dont listen to classical as these are not for that type of music. if you want a rock n roll speaker go with Cerwin Vega and invest in a quality amp. I think you will be very happy with your purchase. I give the 5 stars.

I HAVE HAD MY AT-15'S FOR ABOUT 4YRS. NOW AND AM VERY SATISFIED WITH THERE PERFORMANCE AND DURABLITY. THEY ARE SPEAKERS OF QUALITY AND FINESSE. THEY CAN GIVE THE BASS NEEDED FOR ANY OCCASION AND THE CLARITY OF RAZOR SHARP GLASS. IF ANYONE RUNS ACROSS A PAIR I RECOMMEND YOU PURCHASE THEM. YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED.

I have owned my at15s for about a year now and I have to say for the $600.00 I spent on them it was well worth it. I origonally had these speakers on a pioneer d606s dolby digital reciever. This combo sounded descent but the amp had a hard time keeping up with the 4 ohm impedence of the speakers. I have since then moved this amp to straight surround on jbl's. I now run my cerwins on a carver m1.0t and I could not beleive the difference. These are definatley the best speakers I have seen in there price range. The only fault I do have to note is the imaging is not the greatest but that's why I bought the jbl's..If you like your music loud then these are the bomb.. I give these a five star rating becuase of the quantity of sound for the price..

I read the reviews for other cerwin vega speakers, people must realise that cerwins are desgned with Loudness in mind then any thing else is just an added bonus! I have owned my AT100s ( AT 15s in USA) for over 5 years now and there still hard to fault, they play my kind off music just the way I want them to, if I wanted audiophile I would have purchased another brand, I wanted loads of speaker for my money and bought these : )

Strength:

Loud, easy to listen sound.

Weakness:

The work quality of cabinet.

I had smaller and a bit older Cerwin-Vega digital series speakers with 12" bass before and I wasn't quite pleased with them. The midrange was very quiet. So I sold them and bought pair of AT-100 with woodgrain finish. (AT-15 in USA)
I must say the upgrade was a success. These are bigger and I can still move them around, but not many meters...

Bass and treble sound is okay, but lower midrange sounds too blur. The most important thing is that the sound is not annoying. These are easy to listen.

I have used these for many partyes, for what Cerwin Vega speakers are usually made for. My friends say that they can't hear similar massive sound nowhere else. I agree. Bestbuy for partyanimals with understanding neighbours.

There is one big weakness, the cabinet work quality sucks.
The back wall seems to be loosely attached to rest of the cabinet, you can test your speakers by placing your figer firmly at the joint of backwall and sidewall while playing music loud. If you feel the backwall is moving with the bass, it's time to fix it.
This is how I fixed my pair:
1. I glued the backwall from the outside so that the joint was full of glue. Then I took off the bass and glued it from the inside. It helped. The backwall is not vibrating anymore.
2. When I opened the speakers I noticed that few of the cabinet supporting woodblocks inside were loose at the other end. This was because the bass had banged the structure inside and the factory glue wasn't flexible enough for cabinet vibrations. This explained the strange resonance sound I heard... Also this problem can be fixed with properly flexible glue.
3. The plastic in band division filter cover(adjustable treble and midrange) is very fragile, I only opened it and once again I had to use some glue...
4. The plastic in tweeter had bent a little, I had to open the screws and seal it with some rubbertape.
5. As a bonus I soldered new, more thick wires to bass and added some sound absorption foam.

After these improvements the sound of the bass was much better, I really recommend these for all AT-15 freaks.

I owned my AT-15s for about 7 years and they did the job. I loved the BASS but the imaging and clarity were weak. I had to get rid of them because they were just TOO BIG. I also upgraded to Bose 301s then eventually to B&W 602s.
If you want great sound, get some B&Ws. If you want great sound and bass too, add a sub to the B&Ws. But for $600.00 (if still available) and if BASS is what you're looking for, the AT-15s are too good to pass up.

I've had my AT15s for about 2.5 years now. a friend of mine had a pair for several years and I finally had to get some. I could only find one store in the southeast that sold them (Queen City TV and Appliance). I'm consistently tickled shitless every time I use them. clean, powerful, bass that thumps like a bastard, even though the cone isn't even visably vibrating. but when you do see it start to move, watch out!! unfortunately they use a foam dome tweeter. not the best choice IMO. ribbed cone on the bass speaker, which you don't see too much any more. $600 is a ridiculously low price for these huge black monsters(also were available in woodgrain). I don't know if they still have the AT line or not. but I'm glad I got mine if they've quit making them! used with Sony STR-D1015 120W/ch. mostly 70s and 80s rock for me.
