Well I tell you for the money you cant beat these speakers if you are someone that listens to their music loud. The important thing about vegas are you to to throw power to them for them to sound good Onkyo etc. My experience with the 120's are they can take alot of abuse for a long time. These speakers don't image very good, but you don't buy vegas for imaging you buy them to rock and rock these speakers do. I've owned different sizes of vegas, and they have all been good speakers for the money. I'm sure as you know you don't get much speaker for $200, Thats what I paid for mine on special Enjoy----- Similar Products Used: Polk--Infiniti |

Strength:
Durable, Loud, No Bass distortion
Weakness:
midrange is deafening (fixed w/ an EQ) I am going to start my 3rd year of college and ive had these since my junior year of high school. The tweets and woofers are indestructable. I thought the midrange was alittle loud so i purchased an EQ and dropped the midrange out, so my house thumps w/o the annoying mids. I baby mine, but ive tested them and they take the punishment. I havent checked up on more recent vegas, but if they are built as well as the VS series, then i recommend any CV product. Also a word about Rex stores (where i purchased them)...they are awesome guys.. i went to buy them at $250 ea. and they didnt have them in stock, but told me to come back in 2 days and they would be $200. They deal very well. Similar Products Used: pioneer 15" and kenwood 12" |

Strength:
good bass deep clean and shakes the house
Weakness:
at high levels it has bad treble and mid-range and starts to distort I have had these speakers for about 2 years when i first got them i thought they were going to sound really great they did for a while but now they dont sound so great i have them hooked up to a audio research ls-3 pre amp and a dynco 400 amp and they just dont sound good now i want to get some klipsch heresys because my dad has the cornwalls and they sound great and the heresys should be about the same as the cornwalls |

Strength:
Loud, don't break up at high volumes, practically indestructible. Can handle most types of music
Weakness:
Annoying treble at low volumes, tempting to crank it at inappropriate times. These speakers are definitely designed to play loud. At lower volumes the treble can be annoyingly pronounced, due I suspect to the efficiency of the tweeters. For a good example of this listen to the symbol in Sunday, Bloody Sunday by U2. With the volume up this problem is attenuated by the immense bass. |

I have owned a pair of VS-120s for about 4 months now and am extremely happy with the bass reproduction, however the mids and high could use improvement. That's why I kept my Vega DX-3s. Where the DX-3s lacked in bass response, they make up for in crisp clean mids, and highs. Together, the speakers are loud and clean. Whoever says these speakers are anything but solid performers must have enough money to buy better equipment. Sorry, I have better things to spend over a thousand dollars on. |

Strength:
Build quality, durability, mids, bass loud music
Weakness:
highs These speakers are great. I have read lots of reviews that said these speakers were too boomy but I have to completely disagree. They put out good clean bass because of the big cabinets they come in. A friend of mine has some KLH with 12's and I was shocked to see how small the housing is compared with these. It was probably half as wide and 1 inch taller. They sounded decent but the bass on those was boomy and not clean at all. These speakers sound fantastic for the money. I like all types of music and they really make all your music sound so much better. I mainly run MP3's off of them which aren't the highest quality but they sound great. Then when I put in some original CD's they sound fantastic and in my mind a fantastic buy for the money. Similar Products Used: KLH, Pioneer, Technics |

Strength:
crisp and clear highs, and the bass is just right, not too much or too little-very DEEP bass
Weakness:
none I have had these for a little while now, i purchased them used for $325 in excellent condition. They are the walnut color cabinets. They sound beautiful to me, i am using them with my Yamaha power amp that is 170 wpc RMS into 8 ohms (the older 1985 model M-65) with my onkyo receiver as a pre amp. They shake my chest if i am standing 10 feet in front of them, not to mention the whole house. There is no bass distortion at very high levels, but the mid-range can distort a little if i crank them too high. I was looking for a pair of the VS-150's but i only had $350 to spend...and the 12's are very close sounding. If you live by me and would like to trade the VS-150's for the VS-120's I can add about $50 for them. These are nice looking, and sounding speakers that most people should be very happy with. kind of distorting, with a pioneer VSX4800, bass can be there if you want it, mids are somewhat distorting at loud volumes. For the price, and power to them, i think they are a speaker, looking for more power, before i blow them. |

I looked around quite a bit for a pair of speakers that could give me sufficient volume and low-end response. I paid $180 per speaker, and was worried that the money soaked into them wouldn't be worth it in the end. On the contrary, these things are GREAT.One thing that not many other people have mentioned about these speakers is the fact that they're very durable. You'd need to have quite a powerful amp to give these speakers any trouble, and for someone like me who isn't the smartest with audio equipment, it makes me feel a lot safer to know that they'll hold their own. |

I just bought my VS-120's not to far back and they are better than anything I have ever heard. I paid $200 for the pair for a real sucker and I love them to death. They are powered by my Aiwa NSX-V150M reciever (one of their best) and they kick some ass. The nieghbors constantly complain about the noise! They put out some of the best sound I have heard in a system. It was that or Bose 501's and I am glad I got the CV's! |
