I had my heart set on buying a pair of the BP2002's, but i never saw any on the used market. I could come up with the money for a new pair, so i waited. And then there they were! Not the 2002's, but their slightly smaller sisters. They sound wonderful, if they are your type. The bass on these is full, deep, and plenty, with more if needed, less if not. The mids have punch, presence, and poise. The highs are clean and smooth. The soundstaging and imaging have been very defined and focused.
If you have been looking at the larger models, consider the 2004's because the "less is more" idea truly applies here.

The BP2004s totally rock! I use Klipsch professional speakers in my concerts with my band. I used the BPs in both a home theater and music setting and was totally blown away. In the same setting, I also sampled Energy Audissey speakers, B&Ws, Infinity and Boston Acoutistics, but found no equal. Not even close! I definitely give the BP 2004s the highest possible rating for the price. During the day, the only other speakers that impressed me more were the slightly bigger BP 2002s.

I just test drove these speakers for both home theatre (with C/L/R 2000 & Pro Monitor as satellites)and audio. I found their mid range to be the best I've heard in this price range. The highs were a bit to tinny and the bass was horribly muddy.
Explosions from DVD sounded awful, but again the mid was excellent.
The voices from the C/L/R 2000 were the best out of any center channel I have sampled, but this was not enough to make me purchase this system.
For music I prefer the B&W 600's, but for home theatre, I like Paradigm Monitor 9's, CC350, Mini Monitors and PS 1200.
All systems were test driven off of a Yamaha V995 and Panasonic A310.

Just read all the "opinions" below. Recently I have listened to Infinity Overture 3's, Polk Audio RT1000P's, Definitive Technology BP2004's and 2002's powered by mid-end receivers (in the $750 to $1500 price range) at Circuit city, United Audio etc... Amongst all these speakers, I felt that the BP2002's were the best. The CD's that I brought with me were REM, Led Zeppelin, Depeche Mode, Christy Moore (live CD with vocals, guitars etc.), propellerheads (techno with a lot of Bass) and felt that they all played the best on the BP2002's. I also viewed Godzilla and AirForce One on DVD and felt the BP2002's delivered the amount of Bass that I would deem enough for my ears.
I am in the market for speakers, amp, DVD player and wondering if someone would advise and tell me if I am leaning the right way (BP2002's). For an AMP I am currently considering the Yamaha RX-V2095 or soon to be released RX-V995. I am stretching my budget with the BP2002's and wondering if I will be happy enough with BP2004's (the whole 5 channel set is a thousand dollars cheaper). Looking to use this for a variety of music and Home theater and I like Bass in most applications.

Also, do you know if I can get these speakers via mail order and save money. Has anyone gotten the BP2002's with center and rear matched sets for less than $2500 ? BP2004 set is about $1500.
Thanks,
Sunny

I was excited to listen to these speakers based on the reviews and advirtising. However I was greatly disappointed once they started to play. The piano was ragged, the vocal were rough. I am willing to admit that maybe the shop did not properly set the speakers up, but this particular store has been in business for a very long time in a large metropolitan area, doubtful that they would have screwed this up on a speaker costing over $2000.

These speakers a amazing. When I first heard thee speaker I was blown away. For movies nothing can compare to the sound. The bipolar creates a huge soundstage. Music is very warm and bright. Nothing can compare to these in this price range. Absolutly Fantastic.

I just bought the whole Definitive technology 2004 set along with a Yamaha rxv-995 reciever. I am thrilled with the quality and I can't stop listening to it. I just wanted to know if anyone could reccomend some other things for my home theater. i will be watching 60% movies and 40% listening to music. I listen to Ska, Rock, Alternative, and Jazz. I was looking for help along the line of DVD players, Cd players, Etc. Etc. Etc. If anyone could help i would greatly appreciate it. i thank you in advance and wish you a great day. Thanks.

First, these speakers ARE good speakers. They retail for $1500, not over $2K. PSB, Martin Logan, and Paradigm don't have anything to do with a review of these speakers. You can't compare the sound of a bipolar speaker with direct-radiating speakers. If you don't like their sound, don't buy them, and don't post reviews about them with no mention whatsoever of how they sound. The BP2004's have a very warm and pleasing bipolar sound. The built-in subs do a good job. If you like bipolar sound, and many people do, then they are probably the best value in the Definitive line. It's just sad when you have to compare something to Bose to put it down, how about a good listening critique? And no, I don't own these.

I cannot believe these cost over $2k. There are so many better speakers in this price range. PSB Stratus Silvers (even the Bronze, $1100, sound better)Paradigm Studio 100, Vandersteen 2 Ce, B&W CDM 7, Martin Logan Aerius i etc..
Look at some of the competition reviewers compared it to, Infinity, Eosone, Please. Listen to these, then go hear some real speakers. You are already on the right track by going to a dealer, just go to a dealer who carries real speakers.
