Strength:

Clean High, rich mid's, full deep low's from built in sub

Weakness:

Well I tell you tommorrow, J/K

These speaker have me at a loss for words. I didn't even know who Definitive Tech was until I purchased a sound and vision mag. I then looked up the sight and checked them out. I had my mind set up on some Infinity speakers, I had brand recognition. I went to hear these speaker and was blown away, but I still had to go back to circuit city and demo the IL 40, the salesman demoed the IL 50, and IL 60(impressive) but at 1500 each. I passed on the infinity speaks for the 2004TL and just can't believe the reproduction of musical instruments that can be acheived. Now there is no turning back, Definitive has won me over. The Eagles on DVD is rocks. Definitve small bipolar surround are also part of my collection, soon to be joined by the 2300 center. If you are in the market to buy some speaks, check out the DT you won't be dissappointed.

I've had the 2004's for a year and I'm still amazed that they sound this good. Especially for $1500. They're are light years better than the Bose 901's I had before. It doesn't matter what type of music I listen to (R&B, Classical, Rap, Salsa or Pop) it sounds great with them. Do yourself a favor and go audition them before buying another speaker. You'll be glad you did.

I have had the BP2004 speakers since last December, and have waited until now to post a review. I wanted to live with them for a while in order to be able to provide an honest opinion not based upon a short term audition. I spent several hours at a local audio-video dealer listening to various types of music and doing blind comparisons to the Klipsch KSP300. The Klipsch was slightly tighter in the bass, but didn't seem to extend as low. I chose the BP2004 based upon the the bi-polar sound. I enjoy a wide sound field. You don't have to sit within a small area to enjoy stereo or home theater. After about a month, I added the DefTech C1B center channel. I also highly recommend this or the CLR 2002 to go with the BP2004. In short, I highly recommend the BP2004 ($1500 for the pair) for use as the mains for a moderately priced system or for the surrounds (matched with the BP2002 or BP2000 mains). The main thing to keep in mind when reading reviews is that speakers are transducers that convert electrical signals into air vibrations as thus the sound is highly dependent upon the environment. Definitive Technology produces very high quality speakers that sound great in my home even in a large room with a cathedral ceiling. Also, you don't have to worry about adding a separate sub-woofer and the placement of it. In my opinion, the BP2004 is the best value in the "built-in" powered-woofer tower design.

I am not quite sure what people mean by "Bi-Polar Sound". Do you mean it doesn't sound real!? Well yes, then I don't like Bipolar sound. The goal (for most people) is to recreate a live performance (Impossible, but a goal none the less). The sound created by convention speakers also "bounces" off several surfaces, but is most ly directed forward. Gee, like real life. The last Orchestra I played in, only the French Horn faced the back wall (well the bell at least). This is the same screwy concept that Bose (and some Eosone and a couple of lame Paradigms) use. I don't like them because they sound artificial. The soundstage may sound larger, but it doen't sound real (the images are not focused in correct spaces). As far as the powered sub, Very few companies have pulled this off, Def Tech and Eosone are not two of them. And yes listing other speakers does pertian to a review of these speakers, as there are many better speakers out there for $1500, regardless of design.

I use these for rear speakers only, but have been very happy with them on DD or DTS music or movies. Here is what I have seen said about them "A home theater steal and a music lovers find" "Wonderful...World Class.. A Perfect 10Remember these speakers are only 1500

Frank, you still haven't said a word about how these speakers sound, and I don't think you've ever heard them. Maybe you should respect this review forum and post a review of products instead of making unfounded claims about "real speakers" and "sounding real". Many people enjoy bipolar speakers for one simple reason, they like the way they sound. So if you don't, why don't you quit being an ass and go review some Vandersteens or B&W's that you obviously prefer. Or maybe you should go back to blowing that horn in your orchestra instead of posting reviews of products that you find inferior, yet have never taken the time to listen to. Perhaps you should discuss these feelings of inferiority and your need to project them onto inanimate objects with a therapist. The people who HAVE listened to these speakers have good things to say about them. (Pssst, this is the REVIEW part) They create a nice, immersing soundfield and have excellent midrange abilities. And the bass is quite sufficient unless you're one of those people who like speakers that "sound real", but then I guess they would need "real dinosaurs" in their living room while watching Jurassic Park. Go listen to them. And oh yeah, your reviews are equivalent to someone saying "Orchestra music sucks". Just because you don't like it doesn't mean someone else can't.

Strength:

Good top to bottom balance, powered sub gives you good flexibility for placement. Very attractive and stylish.

Weakness:

Need a separate sub for movies or in a large room.

I traded up to these from the Power 400s and it was a very worthwhile upgrade. Sound is more spacious, bass is deeper and tighter. They are excellent spkrs although you might want to go with the 2002 if you have a large room. Bass is very good for music but the sub is nice for movies. Some of the earlier reviews of this product make no sense to me. They have good bass and the highs are quite good if your placement and room acoustics are good. Placement is important but not critical. Bass is better if subs are facing each other in my room. Powered sub allows you to use a lower powered receiver but go for quality or you will hear it. Generally I would rate it a 4 but some previous reviews misrepresent the product IMO so I will give it a 5 to make up for it.

Strength:

Detail, imaging, build quality, design and size.

Weakness:

None I can point out.

I'm extremely happy with the add detail and resolution of this tower. The image is sharp and the soundstage huge. The built in sub-woofer is more than adequate. I can't imagine needing more bottom than this.

I use these towers as mains in an HT setup. My rears are currently Pro Cinema 100s and the center is the Pro Center 100.

It's a sweet musical match with my Denon AVR-3200. I recommend these towers highly. Bi-Polar design and sound is excellent and completely enveloping. I'll give a five because they're much closer to 5 than 4 in both regards.

Strength:

built in subs, small footprint, bipolar sound

These speakers are truly awesome. The soundstage is great. These spks are meant for HT. I have them match with clr 2002, bp2x and powered by marantz sr-18 and sony dvps 7700. I auditioned some speakers at one dealer and went to another dealer who had these speaker. When I first heard them, I was amazed at the sound. The bass was kicking. We were watching the opening space sequence in Lost in Space. Wow!! My wife was really impressed by the sounds. These spkrs just blew away those earlier spkrs that we had just auditioned. If your room is big, try to add another sub or go with the 2002 or better. We moved to another house with a bigger room, and although the sounds fill the room, sometimes I felt it was missing something. (Maybe I was just using that excuse to try to get my wife to upgrade to the 2002's)

In 2 channels for music, the sound is great. The bass sometimes can be overpowering. Great full-range sounds.

But definitely, audition them.
