Strength:

Extremely clear mids and highs

Weakness:

stand

This center speaker is one of the best ones I have ever heard for the price. Mids and highs are crisp, lows are lacking but I'm not looking for lows in my center speaker. The speaker is a little heavy for the small speaker stand. Other than that, everything else is perfect. I have this center hooked up to a Kenwood 1080VR receiver, along with Infinity RS3's.

I recently purchased the CC-3 and am preety content. The sale factor was the ability to adjust the Mids and Highs to match my Mains ( Dyn Audio's) The speaker is a little tingy but it is crystal clear and can handle what ever wattage I through at it. Overall a great buy for $200 especilly since it can be matched!

Strength:

A great low profile designed center channel unit.
High and Mid level controls to customize sound to match other speakers

Weakness:

Original $400 price was a joke! It's good, but not that good.
Pedistal it sits on is a little touchy...(not good for person's with young children)

***The Great***

Overall, this IMO, is one of the better center speakers out there for two reasons. First, it is a very compact unit. Although it has two 5 1/4 woofers and a 1" silk dome tweeter it doesn't waste a lot of cabinet space and still delivers 80Hz-20KHz with ease. Moreover, this thing plays loud...maybe a little too loud. Although the manual states a 91 db /w/m sensitivity, I found, using a sound level meter, that it is much more like 97 db! (In other words, most of the time you'll have to turn it down relative to the main speakers).

The second thing about this unit that is great is that it has two tone controls for you to "tweek" the sound of the center channel to match that of the other speakers in your system. This is especially good for non-infinity speaker matching, but it even helps with similar model infinity speakers as well, since placement of a center channel (whether on top or below a tv) can also change the apparent sound of it with respect to the main speakers.

***The Not-So-Great***

The only problem that I have with this unit is that it rests on top of a V-shaped stand so that a person can point the speaker up or down depending on the distance and angle of the listening area. But, this thing is touchy! Tilt it too steep either way in its stand and it will fall out if gently nudged. (However, the manual makes sure to inform the reader about ways to avoid tipping the unit) :)

Although this unit is no longer in production, people are still searching for the CC-3 left and right and are even paying more for a used one on ebay than what some places use to sell them for new. Why? Because the new infinity center channels sound similar but are downright enormous and harder to position as well as the CC-3! If you can find one, for $300 and under, it really is worth it.

Strength:

Extremely clear mids and highs

Weakness:

None that affects the enjoyment of this speaker

At the time I purchased the CC-3 I worked in an upscale audio store. I had the choice of many brands. I chose the CC-3 because of the clarity of sound and the ability to play loudly without a hint of distortion. At this time I am pleased with my system but if I decide to sell components the CC-3 stays.

Strength:

solid sound, ties together an RS-based Home theater

Weakness:

none

Their sound probably sold me on putting together an Infinity system for home theater. The packaged sets did not do well for plain CD listening and the RS5 fronts, CC3 center and RS3 rears beats them all for home theater. (needs separate sub-woofer although RS5 bass is not bad)

Strength:

Extremely clear mids and highs. Powerful, loud, and spectacular vocal.

Weakness:

None. No complains , since I got it for so cheap

I have been using this speaker for almost six months, and I love this speaker. This speaker is much more powerful than my old Acoustic Research C225PS. I use this speaker with Yamaha HTR-5150 receiver, and it deliver powerful and very clear sound at level 12 o'clock position and above. I use speaker for my DVD, VHS movies, PC games and CD player. I have no complain for my usage, and the watching saving private ryan, the Matrix, and Gettysburg is wonderful. It's also sound fantastic with my CD player. Vocals are clear and it produce nice bass. This speaker really show why people say it is very important to have a good center speaker for home theater system. If anyone still could get this spaeker and price is at 149, get it.

The Infinity CC-3 holds true to its advertisements with its Crystal-clear dialogue, Subtle on-screen nuances, and Powerful effects. I use this with RS-5 for the main speakers, Qps-1 for the surround speakers, and I have a klipsch KSW-200 for my sub.
This speaker has Two 5-1/4" poly cone drivers handle the mids and lows, and a 1" silk soft dome tweeter delivers crisp, detailed highs. The included low-profile stand lets you vertically tilt the CC-3, so it can be adjusted for placement above or below large-screen TVs. Voice-matched to Infinity's RS-8, RS-5, RS-4 and RS-3 in their latest line, as well as last year's RS 2000.4.

I have owned the Infinity CC-3 for about a year. My other home theater speakers are Infinity RS2000.5 for front channels and RS2000.3 for surrounds driven by a Sony STR-G3 A/V 100w x 5 receiver. My sources are a Yamaha CDC-845 CD changer and an old, but still excellent Panasonic PV-4662 Hi-Fi VHS VCR. I use the center channel mostly to watch movies, I use it very seldom to listen to music.
The speaker is quite compact at about 17 inches wide which will fit on top of TV from 20 inches up. It has a metal mesh grille which protects it drivers better than a cloth grille if you have a two years old child like I do. It features two 5.25 inches woofers and a 1 inch tweeter similar to the tweeters in the last two RS line ups of speakers. The sound can be matched to your speakers timbre by tweaking with two rotating knobs in the back of the speaker one for midrange and the other one for highs. It includes a stand in which the speaker must be placed and it offers the flexibility to point it some degrees upward or downward to aim the sound right at your listening position. The speaker is not box shaped as most centers it is like an egg if you look at it form its side. The looks of this speakers are cool to me but not everybody finds it atractive.
The CC-3 does an excellent job anchoring the dialog and the on-screen action, you really hear those things happening on screen. It can play very loud without a distortion and I like to crank it up while watching movies which impresses even more. Dialog and details sound very clear and defined and if you do not tweak with its controls its very neutral not adding any type of coloration to the sound. Please remove the grille to let the sound "flow" for serious listening. I suggest that if possible you place this speaker below your TV for better sound stage with the front speakers.
The speaker cost me $282.00 including shipping and handling which was very reasonable compared to its $449.00 MSRP. It comes with a very sraightforward wrotten owner's manual with some suggestions regarding it use. A five years manufacturer's warranty is provided.
I did not had the chance to make side by side comparisons with other speakers, but friends visiting me to watch movies are quite impressed with the sound of the system, some of then even own B&W, Klipsch, Advent and Vegas setups. All things considered I will rate it a five.

Bought the CC-3 center speaker from One Call about two months ago for about $264.00 delivered, to go with my Infinity 2000.6 . Great sound and very flexible stand for adjusting direction. Powered it up and no distortion. Highly recommend it. It also has controls to match it to other type front speakers.

I've used this center with RS-5s fronts.RS-3s rears and a Velodyne CT-120 sub.(i wasn't that impressed with the BU-120) on both a Denon AVR-3600 and a nakamichi AV-10 and was very impressed with the speakers ability to keep you focused on the screen and not wonder where the voices were coming from.the adjustments for high and mids is very useful since some sound tracks seem very brassy from the center.(also this would allow you to match it with other brands of speakers) the adjustable stand allows you to aim the speaker at you from either on top of your screen or under it. Excellent choice!
