Connected to an Teac VDRs25x cdplayer and an Accuphase 211 amplifier gives a lifelike wonderful music reproduction.

I was looking for an above average home-theater setup, purchased a Sony 925 Receiver, 15" powered sub and set out to get satellites with good sound staging (directional) and sharp mid range and upper base…
Speaker: Cerwin Vega RE-30 ($189 ea. at Best Buy)
Result: Loud 4ohm speaker sounds ok, amp will not do 5.1 ch. in 4ohm mode, returned to Best Buy. Nice dorm room speaker, amp got too hot when I tried to run at 8ohms for 5.1 ch.

Speaker: JBL HL620 ($182 ea. at Best Buy)
Result: Much better Mid range than the Re-30, tweeter is to omni-directional for sound staging, returned to Best Buy.

Speaker: Infinity RS8 ($399 ea. for floor models (reg. $489 ea.) w/ free CC-2 center ch. promo at Circuit City)
Result: Excellent tweeter, mid range very clear, middle base was not very sharp if it hit below the cut-off of the mid range driver, the 8" sub has a 100watt built-in amp, my 15" sub does a much better job, just not a good match for a system with a 15" sub, returned. (the CC-2 is excellent)

Speaker: Infinity Compositions Overture 2 ($367 ea. from ubid.com or $997 ea. at Circuit City)
Result: WOW!!! Built-in 150watt dual 6 1/2" sub is exceptional, mid and highs flawless. Excellent sound staging, very sensitive and generates much sound pressure with little amp. Very clean at high volume. Only weakness is very low notes, best used with a sub. This is a 5 star speaker, my rear channels.

Speaker: Infinity Compositions Overture 3 ($527 ea. from ubid.com)
Result: A bit better than the Compositions Overture 2, stronger in the base due to 2 extra 6 1/2" base drivers and 300 watts of amp. Tested these in the sound room at Circuit City ($1345 ea.) and they outperformed the best that Polk, JBL, etc. had to offer. Some had more base, but none of the others sounded like a live band on the strings vocals like the Infinity. The store manager at Circuit City told me that these are the reference standard for Home Theater Magazine speaker reviews, 5 stars!

Spacious, lifelike, dynamic, smooth, sweet and gentle; from the whispering harmonic echoes to bone jarring bass(carefully placed near the walls and corners of my listening room). This is one nice sounding speaker system, warm and forgiving; hearing things I never heard before, all music seems new, resurrected from digital death. Sometimes it feels like I'm standing in Dianna Krall's mouth, or sitting right up front in a club listening to Coltrane. At $745.00 each, I stand amazed.

Strength:

Clear sound at any volume, looks very nice next to the silver sony Wega television, Incredible bass (depending on your amp)

Weakness:

NONE!!!!!!!

I love these speakers especially for the price that i got them, before buying them I saw some people reviewing these speakers here and they said that these speakers had no Bass, to those people I say "GARBAGE IN GARBAGE OUT" of course these speakers are going to sound crapy if you couple them with a crapy receiver. I have mine connected to my YAMAHA DSP-A1 receiver (Which I also got at a price that is too good to believe from the Wiz last month $750 from a regular price of 2599.99) these speakers are the best thing that I have ever bought especialy for live CD's if you can find a pair I suggest you jump on them ASAP, I guarantee you will not be disapointed if you connect them good to a good system.

I have created a very impressive system and I am only 21 here is what I have

Yamaha DSP-A1 MSRP $2599.99 I paid $750
Yamaha Tape deck MSRP 249.99
Yamaha CD player MSRP 249.99
Yamaha CD burner MSRP 599.99
Yamaha Mini Disc MSRP 349.99
Sony DVP S7700 DVD player MSRP $1199.99 I paid $400
Infinity Overture 3 MSRP $2900 I paid $900
Polk Audio RM7500 surround sound MSRP 1299 I paid $675
JBL DPS12 down firing subs MSRP 449.99 I paid $200 I have 2 of these for more presence in my sound and more life like sound from Home theater.
everything is connected w/12 Guage cable

Sorry this a follow up review. I meant to put overall rating 5 stars not 4. This is to correct that 5+4=4.5.

Strength:

Everything is very solid except for the bass. It is very good, but does not pound like a 10 inch powered sub.

Weakness:

overall none

This is a very good speaker if you can find one. My roommate was moving and did not want to take these speakers accross 6 states. I have listened to home theater and all types of music genres on the overture 3s. They are near perfect for everything even without a external powered sub. With a powered sub (my taste) watch out the building will shake.

Strength:

Sound, simplicity in looks

Weakness:

There are a few, but unless you use the speakers for a while you will not know that there is any, or you may not notice any weaknesses at all.

Just found out about this website. A great site except for some of the chatrooms. I have had these speakers for about 4 years and the sound is these speakers produce is still better than 80 percent of the speakers at fine stereo stores and 95 percent of speakers in bestbuy and circuit city. If a deal comes up where you can buy a good pair of overture 3's (like 1000 dollars for a pair) go for it. They are great for Home theater and music.

Weakness:

I have not found any.

For a while I have been toying around wiith the idea to get new speakers. I have read many reviews on this site and come up with an idea of what to look for. One day I found a pair of Overture 3's on ebay and looked up the review. Since 85% of the poeple gave them a 4 or 5 star reveiw I decided to give the speakers a try. I am a casual listener, but I immidiatly heard the difference in sound quality. I have had these speakers for a few months now. They are ver enjoyable to listen too. Just a little advice, I had to buy a new 80 watt reciever to power these speakers.
