Strength:

smooth and big sounding, good dynamics

Weakness:

lack of coherence, tipped up upper mids

For their size these speakers present a large dynamic sound that project vocals very well. They also have good detail and presence. The problem with them, especially noticable after listening to the Reynaud line, is they're not really very coherent sounding or completely neutral. I could never sit back, relax and enjoy the music with them. The Tannoys and Jpw's while not as big sounding or dynamic were much more musical. For the price this is not a bad product but there are better choices. As for the rating, this is a general comment for this site and others have already pointed this out and I continue to be annoyed with it. There are 2 ratings to give. Value is how it compares at the price. Overall is how it compares on a absolute basis. 5 stars here means none better. I also found a british site that reviews a model very similar to this one. Here is the link.

Strength:

Small , Clear , and can handle the power without breaking up ......

Weakness:

needs a sub of course .......its only a small bookshelf

I've had my eye on these for some time now but I could bring myself to part with almost 400 bucks for them . For that kind of cash I would just spring for the extra 250 and buy another pair of rf3s.Just so happens I found a pair on ( floor models ) for 200 bucks and I snapped them up. Anyway, about the IL10's , I think they are fantasic , crystal clear mid-range and they keep thier clarity when you pour the power to 'em.I don't know what some folks are talking about when they say lack of base, its a 6.5 inch woofer for crying out loud, what do you expect 35hz???!!! no way. If clarity, accuracy and punchy midrange is your taste (HT) rather than warm and laid back , then these are for you. Give 'em power and bring on the Areosmith , but if the symphony is what you like most you might want to look elsewhere.

Strength:

Clean, detailed sound. Smooth midrange. Contemporary styling. Bi-wirable with gold-plated terminals.

Weakness:

None so far.

I purchased the IL-10 and IL25C Center Speaker as a package from Circuit City for $600 total. The sound of the IL10's is most impressive for a stand-mounted speaker, with butter-smooth midrange and detailed highs. The bass is quite good for a speaker with a 6.5 inch bass driver.
I listened to other speakers, as mentioned above, and they sounded okay too. But, the Polks did not sound quite as clean and open as the IL10s, and the B&W sounded a bit boxy to me. The Monitor 7 sounded good but was a bit too bright for my taste; I felt that it's medal dome tweeter sounded too "spitty" for me.
By the way, Circuit City was the only audio store in my area that was able to provide A-B comaprisons between the brands they sell. It was most helpful listening to the IL10 and Polk Rt35i while having the salesman not tell me which was which. To me, this is the most effective way to assess speakers. (True, the speakers were not hidden from my view, but their demo room is the best A-B room in my area). Also, if I want to upgrade within the next year, CC offers a one year trade up plan with full value given on the speakers traded in.
I must also comment on the styling of the Infinity IL line. They are beautiful speakers, and their look promises to stay fresh for years to come. I have the Onyx Enigre finsih, and it looks great with the silver trim and platinum grills. But, more than looks, it's the sound that makes these speakers a real winner.

Compared Polk Rt35i in A-B listening test. Also listened to B&W 601 S2 and Paradigm Monitor 7. Have owned Infinty Studio Monitor 100 previously. Also own Paradigm Atoms.

Strength:

highs and mids are amazing, they blow polk rt35's, mission 701's and many other high end bookshelf speakers out of the water.

Weakness:

Bass response, but its a bookshelf speakers, its not susposed to have great bass response, team it up w/ a velodyne ct100 or ct 120 and it will be perfect

Everything is tight and accurate, all in all they are great. I got a great buy on the pair b/c i work at Circuit City. I reccomend these to all my customers. I reccomend using Monster Cable Z series wire, and connections. Dispite its price (74.99) it really makes a difference.

Strength:

Wicked bad speakers for the money.

Weakness:

No Bass. (they're bookshelves, doctor)

Like most Infinity speakers, these puppies are very true, sonically. They come through clear and accurate with highs and mids, and NEVER seem muddy. (see Polk, Jensen) Low end is a different matter, and most Infinity systems require a seperate sub.

I could talk about the fact that they're not the most effortless or vibrant speakers on the planet, but really for the price range they are unmatched. A speaker like a B&W Nautilus might kick this thing a new $%^, but Infinity should go up for best in class with these well crafted (if mass produced) gems.

ONE WORD OF ADVICE:
Subwoofer.
These guys can't play first fiddle without one. I've got a Velodyne because I thought the matching Infinity sub sounded like mouse farts (yeah, even the *big* one). Brand loyalty is for saps.

Strength:

Awesome sound from a bookshelf speaker!!! DVDs come to life on these babies.
-Clean, crisp sound
-Not overly large for the sound you get.
-Infinity offers different color covers if you want them.
-They are Infinitys

Weakness:

may be too big for some speaker stands.

An incredible sound from a bookshelf speaker. They sound better than my sony towers did! I use these primarily for DVD Movies and they are awesome! They even have great sound for cd music or DTS Soundtracks from movies. These are an awesome speaker for the money. Far above any expectations I had. I can't rate them high enough!!

Strength:

everything but the lowest of the bass

Weakness:

none for specifications

GOD, these things are incredible. These have flattest
frequency response... I have heard in years for 100-1000$
range... These things are beautiful. Forget mission,
B&W, or other... These speakers do not exagerrate anything.
They play it as if you are just there... on the scene with
Eagles... or in italian opera or in the forest with Jumanji.
This is my only choice for an enthusiast unless you want
to listen to just AC/DC, then get Cerwin Wega - great for
rock very efficent. Other than that... just listen to these.
Unless you have jaded your ears with 100,000 JMlabs Grand
Utopias, these speakers are for u! Get decent amp, like
HK100 or 110 or one of the NAD, see reviews for those, listen.
And set of these wether in stereo or 5.1 config... whoa.
so:
hk 100 x 1
il10 x 4
il25 x 1
velodyne 10" x 1
panasonic DVD - simple one.

DONOT GO WITH il30+ their sounds are like FARTING CRICKET NOISE.
Well not really, il30, il40 , il36 , il50 are lacking
same dynamics as il10. I have no idea why. I think il40s
have to be biamped, which is really expensive. Adding couple
of subs under each speaker, would be a better solution,
Bi-amping would be cleaner, but >$$$!
Enjoy!
