I had these speakers for about 1 week and was dissapointed with them.At first I thought they were ok, but these speakers have no base at all.
The only way to get any bass out of these speakers is to max out the bass
settings on your reciever, and this does not give you an accurate sound
Sure you can ignore that if you have a good sub, but the rest of the
spectrum these speakers cover was not impressive. I tried out the Acoustic
Research 312HO's and was very impressed. They are serious speakers.
Wide open sound stage! Enough base for anyone. Very good sounding
highs. Buy them, you'll keep them. Anyway, the Infinitys weren't real bad,
but why settle for O.K. 2 stars.

An excellent speaker for $200 (used). Definitely one of the best budget speakers out there. It matches well with bright cheap receivers. The sound reminds me of Paradigm Mini Monitor but less detailed on the treble. 5 stars for the value.

These speakers are not good enough for the MSRP. You are much better off getting a pair of Klipsch, KEF or Celestian. However, J&R is dumping them off at $350 per pair, which makes these speakers more attractive. I had to agree with the assessment regarding the sound stage and bass of these speakers. They sound good to me at first, too. Only after you check out the real speakers at a real HiFi store would you realize how inferior these infinity speakers are. 4 Stars from me for the performance at this price. On performance alone, 2 stars.

I think that the infinity 2000.6 are very detailed and sound great. They lack bass but thats ok I use the 2000.6 as rears and the oventure3's for mains which have more than enough bass. So if you like very clean detailed and extreamly accurate speakers these are great.

Well, I got some decent birthday money this year so i decided to get these speakers to flank my home theatre.. I moved the 2000.5's to the back and now the 200.6's are my main speakers, At Crutchfield these were sitting right beside some Polk towers and some NHT' towers and I have to say that it was right up there, with one exception the bass is slightly lacking... but considering that they don't have a powered sub like the others I feel that it isn't a drawback, I 'll just adda sub later. I did some sweep tests and various other tests and I must say that it performed above my expectations. Considering that I paid 350$'s for the pair I can't complain. I also went out and rented Deep Impact, I was blown away, there were some parts in the movie where I forgot that I was sitting in my couch. I swear I thought that I was in the space ship.....
If you can get these speakers for around what I paid I wouldn't even give it a second thought.. snatch these puppies up Infinity doesn't make these any more.. they were relpaced with the RS5's but there is virtually no difference.. they just changed where the bass is ported.. the specs are the same... so save yourself 300 or more dollars and get these....

I got these speakers in 1996. I had an uncle working for Harmonat the time and he got me them at a huge discount. I listened
to several other Infinity speaker, but went with these because
I was able to afford the whole 5 speaker home theater system.
I am generally satisfied with them, though they do lack bass.
But I do like the soundstaging. I am using them with a
Carver AV 405 amp. I use them for both movies and music.
(rs 2000.1's in back)

These speakers are the clearest, most true to life sounding speakers I could find. The tweeters are superb. The bass is not as deep as some but still sounds very good without a subwoofer. These speakers list for $700+ but I was able to find them for $522 shipped to me from Atlanta, GA. With a $100 mail-in rebate, these are the speakers are better than those that I could have bought for 3 or 4 times the money. Buy with confidence.

I recently bought a pair of the 2000.6's open box for only $400! I hooked them up to my Kenwood 1070vr and am very satisfied. People who bash these speakers for their lack of bass need to realize that they are designed to be used with a powered sub and are therfore more versitile. Of course they need a powered sub for any real bass output, but mids are generous and highs are crystal clear. They are probably aimed more towards home theatre and mate perfectly with my CC-3 and RS-4's. I need to buy powered sub really soon.

Well,
it is a pitty that I found this this homepage just today (09/27/98) after I bought these speakers of Infinity Reference 2000.6 model on 09/26/98. If I found it before, I could have made a different decision to buy and chose the other brand. Bye!

Strength:

Incredibly smooth, dynamic sound. Unrivaled in mass market speakers

Weakness:

Um...uh...er...

I bought them brand new in Circuit City in 1996, and they were the best thing I ever spent money on.

These speakers...they're magical. I use an Infinity BU-2 powered sub to augment them, usually set to cross over at 50hz, sometimes 60 or 70, depending on the mood I'm in.

I'm not a home audiophile, but I used to be a car stereo maniac. I spent thousands, installed my own stuff in ways that would make custom shops jealous. The thing I have strived for since 1996 is the sound I have at home. The incredible bass, the sparkling clarity of the towers, the magic of the sound. I never got there, no matter how much I tuned the enclosures or how much power I installed.

If you have them, enjoy them, they're special. If you don't have them, go out and get some while you still can.

Similar Products Used:

None owned..I worked for a mulimedia company and listened to tons of high end stuff before buying.
