Strength:
Fairly good scam, I actually listened to some of it. Fairly pushy salesman for a bad-breathed hick.
Weakness:
I didn't fall for it. I'm sure the speakers suck, so I guess that can be considered another weakness. Van's driver appeared to be under 16, if they got pulled over their scam'd be on ice. I was leaving McDonalds with my double quarter pounder with cheese and icey cold drink. Setting them on the ground, I unlocked my car only to hear a "Hey, you want some cheap speakers man? It's a really good deal" or something to that effect. 'No.. I don't need...' I turn around, and by this time, he's pulled the white van into a parking spot and slides the slide door open. He gives me the pitch about they having more than they need, needing to sell two. He attempts to convince me he doesn't have enough money to get back, producing a $5 and some $1s, but I notice another pocket in his wallet is exceptionally thick. He looks at my car (BMW) and asks what I do - I tell him I work in computer information management. This was the big tip-off, I had definitely been targeted. He starts now produces a grubby, laminated fake sticker for the boxes, touting them as $1299 each. When I mention that I do my work for a speaker company, he is noticably shaken. I think I said "I have no use for them." about 20 times. Pretty darn pushy, but I wasn't amused. He then attempted to tell me to purchase then re-sell them. I told him that it is my job to sell such equipment on eBay and I'd have seen them for sale on there if they were worth jack @#%#. I wasn't scammed, but I can see how many guys were. I was actually more afraid that there was something inside of the speakers that they were trying to use me to transport, as there was a warranty card they wanted me to fill out (transporters don't give a #$%% about being salesmen) I figured my name and address may be used to retrieve whatever later. It wasn't quite that deep. Look at the others that were targeted here - almost had something that indicated they had cash nearby, whether it be a bank or a bimmer. It freaked me out when I came back and told a co-worker about it, I started the story then he finished it for me. If it happens again, I'll play along but follow them for a while. Shadiest thing that's happened to me in a while for sure. Similar Products Used: A white van used to abduct kids around my old house, so I am not terribly trusting of them. I don't think I'm any more fond of them now, either. |

There speakers, I guess haven't yet tried them.
Weakness:
I guess they dont work from all the reviews. I had been scammed the same way. 2 Dudes 1 Van, saying they have extra set of speakers to deliver. One long hair and pony tail, there other big scar left side of face. I was walking away when they told me they wanted $450. But they didn't let me go, I guess I'm glad I saved $210 by insisting on $240. Guess I knew it was fishing for 200 bucks didn't think speakers could be that bad. I guess I'll hear for myself. none yet... i bought two speakers for my dorm in MD while home in Baldwin, NY (on Long Island). I was withdrawing cash from an ATM at a fleet bank when a white van with two surfer dudes approached me and talked me into two speakers for 150 cash. they gave me a whole 'beer money' routine, same as above. |

I buy these DPA SLT 2.8 in the street i can't believe that i do that. It's with mistake that you learn in life but that's a mistake of 250$US. I see the card of the men who's driven and he's from Alberta. Similar Products Used: JBL |

Higher Highs, Hits Well.
Weakness:
Knowing I could have only paid $150. Well, since we were ALL trying to screw over the sales person, by getting something less than we should have really paid for it, it's not too bad. Not to mention, I have a whole Kennwood DTS system. I replaced my Fronts with the two new Digital Pro Auid DPA SLT 2.8 Towers. Sounds Five times better, and the db hit is way greater. Increadable, for less than I paid for my Kennwood's a year ago. Similar Products Used: Kennwood. |
