Strength:

The box is alone worth WAY more than I paid, bass bumps, and highs are crisp.

Weakness:

The fact that everyone is downing them.

Ok listen, every singe review I read except for a few has said they haven't put them up to listen to them. Why don't you open the box and hook them up. For the amount of money you paid, you got a great deal. Who cares if a couple of guys are trying to make a few bucks? You all paid a few bucks for nice speakers. Try to find anything out there right now even halfway as nice as the ones you got and you will find squat. Did you ever think that maybe this business was an up and coming business, but they went under? After manufacturing all these speakers they lost it all and had to get rid of them? It's a VERY good possibility. It really does happen all the time. Accept you got a deal, LISTEN TO YOUR SPEAKERS, and ENJOY your new toy. Adios!

Cheap, Cheap, Cheap

Weakness:

bad quality

So I'm leaving my bank parking lot when a guy walks up and wants to sell me these DPA 2.8s. Well he shows me his invoice, and his card, and his ID and everything along with that flashy sales brouchure that says they retail at over $1000. Well, I "worked" the price down to $250, thinking worse comes to worse I could sell them on Ebay. No such luck I guess, they've been hitting the seattle area. C'est la vie, I was looking for a good center channel and I guess this will do.

Strength:

The bass is good

Weakness:

some distortion at higher levels

This is crazy. I was sold my speakers by a guy in a white F-150 with matching camper top. The story was the same as the rest of you. I did however get the set for $250 which after I hooked them up I felt like I got a pretty good deal. Its crazy how far reaching this scam is. Not a bad deal though depending what you paid.

My knees after finding out I'd been duped

I got duped in Ann Arbor, Michigan today (well yesterday, now that it's after midnight when I'm posting). Tony and his sidekick in a white SUV. Bought the pair of DPA SLT 2.8's for $400. I know my name is mark, but how did they know that I was one?

I'm usually good with scams, but it was all the props involved that got me. What a fool I am. They had the packing slip from where they were shipped to them in "farmington hills", and they had the laminated ad showing the price of the speakers at like $995.

They claimed they had to meet their boss in a few minutes at the olive garden to return his truck (the white SUV).

I took them out of the box, and the first thing I noticed was the particle board. Hanh? That seems rather crappy for that amount of money. So my brother and I hop on the Internet to do a search. And I found this site. I'm not real upset. I learned my lesson. But I will be driving around looking for them. Not sure what I'll do when I find them. Maybe nothing, if they give me a refund.

I wish I would have taken the time to check them out in the parking lot of the bank where they hit me up. They don't even look the same as the ones on the ad that they showed me. I even write for a consumer advocate newsletter, and hadn't heard of this scam. I guess I know what MY next article will be on.

I actually haven't hooked them up yet, but I'm giving my review based on the deceptive marketing and the crappiness of the components.

Strength:

the ones I have sound good

Weakness:

none

My room mate bought some speakers from the same deal, two guys in a van or truck. they say "Digital Pro Audio" on the front and are both 17" aluminum subs w a horn on the top but they dont seem to be a scam though its not a six speaker system but just two concert speakers. they hit real hard and shut off instead of blowing when music is loud. Im a DJ and crank it loud as f. But never had any problems. Are all these reviews on the same ones? Did yours come in a box w warrante cards and such? ill look inside the boxes to see how good the wires are but I cant find a company called Innovative sound systems any where on the net. Well if its a scam i hope they get busted.

deal that's too good to be true

Weakness:

my little voice

i bit on their sorry scam. look out, they're in small towns too: two guys in an olive lincoln navigator, washington plates 745 MAT, drove by my place and saw me outside, stopped and said warehouse shipped a double order and if they don't unload the extra their boss will just keep them. they wanted $400 (just beer money, man) each but grudgingly took my $440 total. lesson learned when i got on line looking for a product review.

I should learn to say no..

I got ripped off, I guess, I havent hooked them up yet. In any case I think I will take the tweeters out and use them.
One guy in a blue van in Newbury Park, CA. Sold me with the installing home audio and Dig Pro stuff. Just here to add my story to the rest of the ripoffs. I guess this will teach me to be careful in the future.

Strength:

The whole scam seems to work pretty well (F*ck!!!)

Weakness:

Me and my stupidity

The same story with me. Two guys in a blue Dodge Caravan with east coast plates (Vermont or Deleware, or something like that-I'm still trying to remember)pulled up next to me at a stoplight and asked if I was interested in buying some high end speakers for way cheap. Stupid me, I said I wanted to see them. They wanted at least $400 for them, but I wouldnt go over $300. They sold me with the six speakers, six pairs story. They had the invoice, showed me the warranty card... everything. Damn Damn Damn!!! I even gave one of the guys a ride to the ATM in my car! He said that he had lived in Houston, L.A., and Oregon, so they probably scammed people there. Anyway, now I'm just pissed off and want these jacksons caught. I really think something should be done. If there is some group that people like us have formed to catch these guys, please let me know. I'm mad and want tohelp in any way I can.

I think they have good bass.

Weakness:

The tweeters are really crappy

This is funny. I bought something that was a scam. Live and Learn. My speakers were sold as DPA SLT 8.2 Digital Pro Audio. That I got 6 pair instead of 6 speakers story must work really good. I hope that more people see this. We should all try to track these guys down and steal their money.

One hell of a good scam

Weakness:

My spine I said no thanks more than once..then changed my mind

Yes, I too was suckered into this. Same story...6 speakers were to be loaded but 6 pair were instead. They were doing me a BIG favor. Have not hook them up yet because I don't even own a reciever. I got scammed hard. f them. They were driving a green Mitsubitshi Montero with a broken rear passenger window.
