They sound fine, it just sucks falling for a scam such as this.
Weakness:
Scam....need I say more. Basically I have the same story as everyone else, I was approached by two men in a New England Home Theater work van and was given the same line, and was even told that the deal was so good that I should take them out for beers if I ever saw them again. These two guys did however manage to solicate driving directions to a nearby town before ripping me off. I enden up paying $300 for a pair of "$800" speakers. They showed me their catalog listing, which all looked legit so I went against my instincts and and bought the speakers. This is totally a scam, and that is what needs to remebered. So it really doesn't matter what you pay, the guys who are selling the speakers to you are gonna get the price that they want. The speakers ound ok, but their sound triggers a memory that brings down their total quality. This all took place in the Boston/Lowell area of Massachusetts in my office parking lot (is nothing sacred). Good luck. Similar Products Used: Onkyo, Sony |

Well made for their actual street price. ( Sorry, couldn't help it.)
Weakness:
Lack of a midrange driver leaves them bright and boomy. First off, I just had to comment on all the anger in these posts. You guys were all trying to rip somebody off, the sellers boss, the shipper / manufacturer who sent the "extras", whatever. I doesn't matter now that the "crime" you were going to be a part of was a scam. You still thought you were helping the "salesmand" rip somebody off. You were willingly entering into what you were clearly told was larceny. Now when it turns out you were the "victum" and not the other guy, you're all pissed off. Sad, really, really sad. Now for my review. I picked up a pair of Innovative Sound Digital Pro Audio towers with twin 8" drivers and a little metal dome tweeter for $40 at the thrift store. I have a nice pair of G500 Jbl's that are very similar in design and size, but with a midrange driver. Comparing the two sets shows the DPA's to be bright, and a little boomy and weak in the mid's as would be expected, but not bad really. Frankly, if you paid a couple of hundred bucks for them, you probably came out all right. I used these as the surrounds with the G500's in front in my den system and they're fine. Are they worth the $1500 or $2000 these "salesmen" you ran into were saying they were, no! Did you get scammed, yes. Did you get a speaker worth what you paid for it, I think so, maybe even a little better. It is often said that if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Well, I would like to add my 2 cents. If you have to be a party to a crime to get the deal, it probably isn't one. Similar Products Used: Compared them with my JBL G500, a similar speaker system |

Just the fact that I was ripped off...nothing major!!!! Alright...add me to the list of dumba**es that fell for this freakin scam. As the story goes, I was approached while filling up my truck at a gas station in Universal City, TX (just North of San Antonio). They drove up in a slate blue Ford Expedition. Gave me the same sales pitch all of you guys have received. I had told them no and actually had called my wife...was in my truck about to drive away when one of them approached me again and basically said he was willing to give them away at any price. Hook, line, SUCKER. Went in and pulled out $300 from the ATM. As soon as I drove off I was already kicking my own a**. Tried to call information to get the phone number for the "Worldwide Audio." Yeah...there isn't one. Looked up Audiofile online and came across all of these great reviews. I feel everyone's pain and I am just glad that I'm not the only one who has had a total brain fart and fell for this. I know they work and I'm just gonna hope I can get some of my money back. Haven't found any yet. My husband had pulled into 7-11 to get a quick drink when a couple of guys in a white minivan asked him if he wanted to buy some speakers. He asked them how much and they said $2000. My husband laughed and drove off. He came back, for who knows what reason, and asked them about it some more. They explained the same story as everyone else: "...just finished a big install job here and they had sent an extra set of speakers, DVD player, etc." So my husband fell for it and said that he would give them $200, not $2000. They laughed and said they had to at least have $500. Finally, they negotiated $400 and they even offered to come to our house and install them for $20! They gave us they cell phone number and we called it, it was really their number. They came later that day and installed them. Similar Products Used: Not sure. |

the quick come up Guilty of trying to score on a supposedly once in a lifetime too good to be true opportunity ... and guess what ... yep, scam !!!! and what makes it worse I was meeting my sisters for lunch, but before they got there I was approached by a hunter green yukon and asked if wanted to score on 2 extra speakers not on shipping order showed a stereo review mag with millenium)which were probably referring to soundlab's millenium series.I was told by both my sisters not to buy cuz they had seen a news report warning about these 2 cocks, the older of my two sister even got out of her car and started questioning these low~lifes and went to the front of the suv as if to be getting there license plate #. After her quick interogation she pleaded with me not to be another victim, but my dumbass was so sure I was coming out ahead, that I decided to go for it. I went home and plugged them in to my yamaha receiver they sounded nothing like the $849 advertised on there website. I didn't want to admit it at first, until I found this website. After reading a few posts I knew I'd been had. I'm just glad i didn't have more money on me(well actually I did but I told them that I needed lunch money)and was not going to ATM as they had advised since I really didn't need them. (I was just going on the notion that I was about to come up) One of the guys told the other that there was no way they would sell for no less than $300 so I started to walk away, exactly at that precise moment my sisters drove up. The other guy then said instead of his as*hole boss getting them that they should make a quick $200 so I quickly accepted thinking I was about to come up big. I encourage anyone else that got scammed to post city were scamed and descriptions of these fellons. They got me for $200 they need be stopped cuz you could be next and for how much? The guy on the passenger side had black shoulder length hair was wearing a metal spearlike stud under his lower lip he looked @ 23-27yrs old about 5'9"-5'11" about 175lbs his partner caucasian blondish hair never exited car but seemed similiar body type and age except little more surfer~ish type while the othe was a lil darker skin. If you get approached try and get a good look at them to report to authorities... ooooohhh how I wish I could find these guys turn them in and... they only got me for $200(that's about what they are actually worth) but i want these mutha~f***ers busted.
