Sound fine.

Weakness:

None noted yet.

I knew that there was some kind of scam when I gave the guys in the white van $200.00 for the pair. I have a Boise sound system throughout my home, which is just great. I have a reciever from my college days that I hooked up the speakers for my son and they sound great to him. For those of you who have not hooked up the speakers, I encourage you to do that. They may not be as bad as you think. What do you expect for $200.00?

Look Good

Weakness:

Sound o.k. at low level, but hissing sounds occur at higher levels

I can't believe that they used the same story on all of us and we fell for it, the white van & the two guys. I must say I got scammed but I haven't laughed like I did when I started reading how these guys in their vans have actually standardized on the story from coast to coast! Well I guess we still have the manufactures 3 Year parts & labour warranty! or do we ?

There were speakers adn they make sound

Weakness:

I am a sucker for this crap. i love speakers and sound, wanted new sound, and I got what I paid for I suppose, I mean hey, it is the side of the street...

Well, I got hussled, or whatever ya wanna call it. I mean they have sound coming out right now. I wanna sell them, BAD. But feel like it is bad karmatically to dump them on someone. I am gonna sell them I think. I don't need them and think that they will find a happier home elsewhere. We'll see, but ya know, it is how it goes when you buy like this...

They made it over the border ...

Weakness:

?

Well, it now appears the people have made it over the border to Canada. Sitting outside drinking beer in front of my house and these two guys pull up in a blue (or white?) van asking us if we wanted speakers. I was interested so a guy wearing a ball cap, from North Jersey (we spoke of Satin Dolls - aka Badda Bing!), can't remember his name tells us the routine. The stock room overloaded his van and he just wants to get rid of them. He even had the fake 'overcount' inventory sheet to prove it. Pulls out a wad of c-notes and tells me the last guy paid $1800 CDN for the pair. I offered $500 CDN and after a bit of whining on his part he took it. We went to a bank machine and I pulled out the cash and he drove off with his friend. I can't really rate these because I haven't set them up yet, but now I feel like an idiot. It just happened last night and I was online to see what the speakers were all about. Beware other Torontonians!

I fell for the same scam, but a new model, I think. They are sold as Digital Pro Audio DPA 312. I was very pleased with them when I took them out and they actually worked. They really don't sound too bad, and even when pushing them with a 50 watt amp, they sound decent. I couldn't have the cabinets made complete for much less then what I paid for the whole deal. Not too shabby for a scam.

I am obviously more gullible than I had previously thought.

The Better Business Bureau knows about these guys. Check it out: http://www.labbb.org/scripts/cgiip.exe/WService=wsbroker1/C%3A/Inetpub/wwwroot/SouthlandReport/default.htm?hAddrID=1&hAKAID=1&hCompID=78000490

I only wish I had access to the internet somewhere in between the time these guys spotted me, casted out, and reeled me in. Lucky me, I just happened to be looking for a good pair of studio monitors for my home recording studio at the time, and I thought the gods had smiled upon me with their magical white van. I actually paid $600 for two pairs of DPA 208's. "Wow!" I thought, "What a great deal for speakers that usually sell for more than $1,700 a pair! I'll buy TWO pairs, sell one pair on eBay or in the classifieds for $1,000, and come out on top with a free pair of professional speakers PLUS $400 profit!" The scammers gave me an incredibly realistic-looking invoice, realistically crumpled and everything, made out to some studio in Spokane that supposedly bought 10 pairs of these speakers for $17,000. I don't know -- maybe the studio actually exists and they REALLY got scammed. I should probably check it out. Anyway, as the story goes, the Seattle warehouse accidentally sent out these two delivery guys in the white van with twenty pairs instead of ten (the warehouse thought there was only one speaker per box instead of two), and these guys were trying to sell all ten extra pairs and pocket the money before they got back to Seattle. The situation was so realistic, the guys that sold me the speakers were so excited and so believable that I wonder if they were just pawns in the big scam plan. Obviously they were making money off of it, but I think they possibly believed that the speakers were worth $1,700 a pair and they didn't know they were part of the scam. Maybe Innovative Sound Systems always "accidentally" sends out twice as many Digital Pro Audio speakers as they're supposed to, and from then on down the line (unfortunately ending with me, the guy stuck with the crappy speakers) they trust that dishonest people trying to make money off of "stolen" items will keep the scam going. And if that's the case, it seems to be working really well. I could be just as guilty as the guys who sold me the speakers. After all, my plan was to get a free pair of speakers and still make a profit by selling my extra pair. I wouldn't feel right about selling CRAP speakers for $1,000, but as long as everyone, including myself, believed they were really worth $1,700, I'd still be giving the person I sold them to a pretty good deal. The guys in the van who sold me the speakers could've been thinking along the same lines. If they somehow really believed the speakers were worth $1,700 then they were giving me a FANTASTIC deal by selling me two pairs for $600. That way they wouldn't even have to feel the slightest bit guilty about it. MAN, I wish I knew the whole story! This is a world-class scam, plenty worthy of investigation by Dateline or even the FBI. Just think how many people have fallen for the same scam. Even with all the scam stories posted here, I'm sure we are only a very small percentage of everyone who's been "Digital Pro Audio"'d. DPA'd. I spent WEEKS trying to find something on the internet about these speakers before I found this site, and I know that most people give up a lot easier than I do. A lot of people still don't even use the internet. So how many people have REALLY been DPA'd? I'm sure it's in the thousands, perhaps even hundred-thousands. Perhaps this scam would be exposed by now if it weren't for the fact that we are all probably too embarrassed to step forward. It's not easy to admit that you were stupid enough to fall for a scam. I didn't know for sure that I was scammed until I found this site, but this is still the first time I've told anyone about the details of my experience buying the speakers, for reasons other than feeling stupid for being scammed. Before, I didn't tell anyone because my conscience was telling me all along that even though I wasn't buying "stolen" speakers, I was buying stolen speakers. I didn't feel right about it. Now I have a different reason for not telling people. OK, I think I've typed way to much. I could just rant and rave forever about this, though. Anyone who wants to can e-mail me at amevens@juno.com. We do kind of have a little support group going here -- at least we know we're not the only ones who've been scammed. Oh, yeah -- about the speakers: I haven't even plugged them in yet, but I started getting really suspicious once I "snuck them home," took a good look at them, and wondered how they could POSSIBLY be worth $1,700. Deep down, I'm still holding onto the slim possibility that I did get a good deal. Anyone want to buy a pair of speakers?

twenty minutes ago I was confronted by a freak with short dark hair and mirrored sunglasses. "these are digital man! 200 watts!" he say's to me, "I've got a wharehouse full of them". So I figured $100 bucks for hot speakers why not? when I got home I checked out the net and this is the only page that referenced the things! What a scam! I have not hooked them up yet, I may just put them on E-bay for $200. Watch out for the black minivan!

Heads up to anyone reading this. A pair of these guys seem to be back in Utah. Dark green/blue SUV, 2 clean-cut white guys spouting off about getting extra speakers from their warehouse to deliver and wanting to sell them.

were do I start...

From NJ to the UK. Don't I feel like a f****** mug. This is clearly worldwide and very clever, I imagine it will be in Britain for a while. I had the same story as most, two blokes, white van, someone had ordered to many. its not the first time ive had bent goods off the back of a lorry its quite exceptable in a way , but all the while i was talking i thought it was a pack of lies but i still bought them, mug. One cockney ferret and i think the other fella was greek, they sounded like they were from south of the river which is my neck of the woods but he got cagey when i pressed him. A really safisticated scam but im still surprised that so many of us have been fooled, that doesnt mean I'm going to pretend that there half good though, face it they done us; and anyway you were wondering what to get your nan for christmas.
