Strength:

Clear and Loud...Looks nice too

Weakness:

Tweeter Burns out way to fast

The speakers are great...At the price I got it for I am more than Happy--200 each...the highs and lows are great but the tweeter blows pretty ezly...Im getting a new receiver which should pump these speakers to their limits.
I strongly reccomend these speakers.

Strength:

Well made, Nice appearence, That thumpin JBL sound, with clean power, mucho loud and clear

Weakness:

Some loss of detail,

I got a smoking deal on the new JBL ND 310,, I heard them and for the $$$ there wasnt anything out there that touched them. They appear well made, it seemed for a while JBL was making some cheepness stuff. Now I believe their getting a great balance between cost and quality, I Power them with a Rotel 972 feeding a Crown dc 300a series 2, basic Monster cable, cds player is an DBX It will get you thrown out of your appartment. My tandem set up are the New JBL S-38's, with an old Dyna pas 3 Preamp with telefunkins ( fresh caps a must) ( by the was, if you have a change purchase an old tube Dyna pas3, do, they realy do sound very musical),, I run an older DBX cd player into the Dyna, from there, to an older, mint yamaha 2050 power amp. Monster xp cable, Again, I feel, for the money, thoe it may not give the most detailed sound, well worth the $$

Strength:

Good sound, good quality..

Weakness:

none

I wrote a review for these a while back and when i came to see what all the new owners said...well i laughed especially at the guy who blew the tweets.. ( they blow too fast )..Do i really have to get into this? First of all he was probably clipping his 0.09% THD reciever, second tweeters are very fragile drivers. and when your reciever starts to clip ( maxing out the power section )And this will easily blow a tweet. Next your recievers THD ( total harmonic distortion ) was probbaly not very low and trying to reach concert leverls in your livingroom with that thing is Definetly a NO NO! If you truly want to go loud and have trouble free sound for years forget about some reciever. Get an integrated amp or something. I bought a NAD C-370 to go with my nd310's and i can push them real hard w/o worring about distortion or clipping. All amps can clip but something with a descent power suppy, a few large capacitors will be much less likely. And while im on the subject for anyone thinking of buying these and you dont really have much to drive them with, forgetaboutit these will not sound so great on a junk amp.i used to have these on a Teac for a around 2 months, no i didnt go loud..and they really didnt sound as good as they should, after getting the NAD yes they really sound wonderfull. I just needed to explain some stuff to these people that are complaining because of a blown tweet. Hopefully you all learned something today.

Happy Listening

My system:

Strength:

Everything except cabinet construction

Weakness:

see above

After reading some recent reviews,I cannot stress enough how important it is to have CLEAN power (watts). A recent post said that 8hrs of continuous play at 125watts will melt the tweeters.
I can tell you why- you had some distortion that fried your tweeters, because you had your reciever dimed, or darn near.. at least enough to clip the power section.

Many people don't understand that it is better to have too much wattage for what your speakers are rated, than to have way under the maximum continuous watts-per-channel rating that the manufacturer specifies. The reason being, with an underpowered speaker system, you will drive your power section into distortion very easily, (because the speakers can easily handle 125 watts..) and once the signal 'clips' "poof" go your tweeters. It's the clipping (distortion)that fries the driver. You may not even HEAR the distorion.

So, you are better off having AT LEAST what the manufacturer specifies for wattage, if not more. It sounds backwards, I know, but that's how it works. I would rather have a 400wpch amp and 250 watt speakers, than the other way around. I do NOT, so there is only a certain point that I will turn my A/V unit up to, and no more.

These things (ND310's)can handle mucho watts, trust me, but it's gotta be distortion-free (THD).

Strength:

Great performance to value rating

I have these hooked up to my Yamaha RX-V1000 amd I have been totally impressed. Great sound, and clear. I'm sure there are better speakers outthere, but for the price cannot be beat. HT or music sounds great. Also sounds a bit better with the grills removed, but not that big of a deal.

My biggest decision now is to either get the N-center or the S-center. Any Help in this area. One day I might get some really expensive speakers, but when you have these you have to ask why.

Overall 4 - there are probably better speakers, but money is always an issue.

Strength:

Good bass, mids and highs, nice looking, and good quality

Weakness:

Are you kidding

These are my first REAL speakers and let me tell you they are also my first GOOD speakers. They have incredible bass i dont even need my sub anymore. Also the highs and mids are very nice and smooth. Although these speaker would be better sounding with a real amp rather than the reciever i have they are still great. They can handle anything i throw at them with ease and grace. Although if you have never seen them in a store before buying they are bigger that youd expect. But they are very nice looking especially with the grills off and also i have had NO problems with the grills falling off.....like others have said. The only downside is if you live in hawaii like i do it costs around 280 bucks to ship because of the size and weight but i still think they are worth it. They had replaced some KLH 12" 3 ways i got for 80 bucks each and really sound alot better. They also seem to be built well......solid construction. And they have high quality drivers. To sum it all up these are some seroius speakers with serious sound and i know that these are going to be with me for many years to come. Thanks JBL
I highly reccomend these.
If you have any suggestions for surrounds and center when i upgrade email me. Which JBL's to choose that will match these best.

Strength:

Great clarity, aesthetics, and loudness

Weakness:

Crossover points are not where they should be

I was a little weary of these when I went to get them as there was someone who took one in with the "separated cabinet" problem, but I decided to get them anyway. I am not dissapointed in the least. These speakers work well in the "pad" matched with the n24's and NCenter. They are clear and reproduce sound as $500 speakers should. Unfortunately, the crossover is pretty weak. I hear high midrange coming out of both subs on both sides (Kenwood VR4080 with 6AWG Monster) which is pretty dissapoining. I am in the process of replacing one sub on each side to reproduce only LFE (with an additional internal amp). One speaker is up and running and WOW. Those little 10's have no trouble between 20hz-30hz provided you have the right equipment. Overall, I am satified with my purchase and would recommend these speakers to anyone on a $500 budget.
