Strength:

The price is great, good bass

Weakness:

none really

I bought these last January and I love 'em. It's just not worth it to pay up to 3X as much for Cerwin Vegas. The difference in sound is practically nothing. My Yamaha HTR-5460 is perfect for these because I have no sub woofer, and it has that extra bass boost.

Strength:

Great overall sound, low bass, good highs

Weakness:

Nothing worth mentioning

I ended up listening to a few different speakers at Best Buy. Like most of the other reviewers, I listend to the CV, JBL, Bose, and Sony speakers. Quite frankly, the sound quality of these KLH speakers was better than most of these other speakers, many of which only had 6" or 8" woofers. My favorite speaker, overall, was a pair of 12" DCMs at Circuit City at $400/pair. But, the KLH's were close enough. In fact, at first I thought that the KLH's were $100 each, so I thought it would be worth it to spring for the DCM's (10 year warranty), but when I realized the KLH's were only $100 for the PAIR I just had to have them. I listen to all kinds of music. These speakers really crank on Quiet Riot's "Metal Health" and they sound really sweet with Vivaldi's "Allegro" and George Winston's "Winter" (piano). With my 100W/channel amplifier set at 1/3 volume they don't distort at all. I can't imagine listening to music any louder than that.

I'm an electonics engineer by trade and my dad had a hi-fi stereo business when I was growing up, so I feel I've got a pretty good idea of what "good quality" music reproduction is all about. I could afford to spend much more on expensive sound equipment, but why should I? Anything above these speakers is diminishing returns. These KLH's are just a sweet deal and they sound really great. They just don't have a fancy name on them.

Yes for the money you get some big speakers. These would be great for something like music in the tool shed or garage at low levels or maybe a birthday gift for a kid under 18. I have no idea what these people were smoking when they compared them to klipsch, bose, or cerwin vega.
Yes the bass is loud but that doesn't make it good...it drags. The treble is very high and I know you can change the settings on your amp. My personal opinion is that it should sound decent without adjusting. Just remeber to save that receipt.

Strength:

good bass and can take a crap load of a lot of crap for parties and other neccesary times for outrageously loud music

Weakness:

Sound qaulity, over powering treble but, with the money you save buying these you can get a powered sub to take care of that

These speakers are worth every penny I paid you just need to give them a little bit of time to settle in a little then you'll hear what KLH can do for the price you pay. Match these up with a KLH powered sub an you got your self a system that got guts for the buck (if you set it up right). Just make sure the sub is 120 watts or more or you won't be able to tell the difference! These are not exactly the best but Nothing can compare at the price. You should only get this if your interested in loudness; these don't exactly have top notch sound quality and are definitly not moniter quality but, I don't care and if you wan't loud for the littlest amount of money possible than these are what your looking for.

Strength:

Good Bass Nice Mids

Weakness:

Have the Treble to high and your ears will ring for hours

I'v had my KLH 9912's for a few weeks now i almost didnt get them because they sounded like crap at BestBuy, but it was a long drive and I didnt want to come back with nothing. Once I got them set up with my receiver and messed with the Bass and Treble I got them to sound so much better then any of the speakers I saw at BestBuy. The speakers do move a little each time the bass hits but a few book on top of the case fixed that. Im glad i got them even after all the bad reviews they got. Ignore all the bad reviews, if u dont like them you can take them back.

Strength:

Great "Bang for the buck",good bass, decent highs

Weakness:

None for the price

What do you want for $100? Sure, they don't sound like my brother's $1800 B&W's, but they sound great under certain conditions. The owner's manual says they have a frequency response of 28-20Khz but it doesn't indicate how flat that rating is. Speaker companies have a habit of boosting the high and low frequencies of their low-cost speakers to make them sound "fuller". You won't have any complaints listening
to rock or blues with these speakers, but you may notice some coloration in the midrange and upper bass when you're listening to classical or jazz. With that said, open up a cold one and crank up some Weezer or Limp Bizkit!

Strength:

Treble is loud.

Weakness:

Harsh Treble. Weak Bass. Terrible Mid-range

I bought these speakers after being given KLHs from the 60's from my parents. I thought if 60's KLHs sounded good KLHs made today would sound better. WRONG. After comparing them to my JBL N38's these speakers suck. After comparing them to my Parents Magnaplanars, these speakers sound like total crap. The bass is weaker than my JBLs with 8" woofers. DONT BUY THESE SPEAKERS!! The KLHs ruin the sound of my Harman/Kardon CD player and Reciever. The JBLs bring out the greatness of HK. DONT BUY THESE SPEAKERS!!Goto www.harmanaudio.com and get some refurbished speakers or something.

Im 14 years old and these speakers sound bad even to me.

Strength:

Very inexpensive

Weakness:

Sound reproduction

This speaker is the one to get if price is your main concern. The sonic signature, however, leaves much to be desired. The woofer is boomy and muddies up the low end. The tweeter is shrill and headache inducing if listened to for more than an hour. The midrange is totally lost in sonic maelstrom of the tweeter and woofer. They are very inexpensive though and as long as you don't actually use them, you should be happy.
