I had just bought a pair of Infinity Overture 1's after a lot of research over the net. I wanted something for home theater as well as music and had
discounted tower speakers simply because I didn't think I wanted anything that huge in my living room. Well, that and I didn't think I could afford a pair that size.

I had the Infinity's for one week, and they are outstanding. But then I happened to stumble across this KLF 20. Now as a teenager there was one speaker that was legendary in the minds of us young rockers. "Klipsch". I remember wanting a pair even though I'd never heard them! :) Only a dream...then.

Then I find the write ups on this model and I decided I just had to hear them.
Finding a place was not easy. Turns out in my area the only store that carries
them is a place I had sworn off years ago. "Good Guys". Ugh. Oh well, off to them I went. I listened to the KLF's and compared them to a pair of Energy
A5+2 speakers. I came back later with my girlfriend and more CDs. We spent
nearly an hour in the room comparing. (Tried some others speakers as well but none compared to these two models)

In the end it *was* a tough choice. The A5's are *amazing* how they can surround the room with sound. The KLF's are much more directional, but that wasn't a concern of mine because of how I plan to use them. When it came down to it, the KLFs were more our style. I'd call them true Rock N Roll speakers! And since
that's almost all I listen too, the decision was made.

Got them home a week later...
All I can say is Oh...my...God. The Overture 1's have been relegated to rear speaker status and the KLF's now rule. I can't even describe how much I like this things!!! Yeow. I've been out spending and spending on more CD's. And home theater?? Hang on to your hats. These babies deliver, and they were
worth every penney!!

I really don't know how to begin...I guess you can say I was in the right place at the right time. A local company was going out of business and I bought the one and only pair of klipsch speakers they had. I had never even heard them before but I knew they were top notch. The tag said $1499.99 and I bought them for $400. I took them home and hooked them up to my little harman kardon 40 and set the house on fire. I got the attention from people in kentucky. Yes, they are loud, yes they have incredible bass, and the horns bring out every level of sound put on the disc. Capable of multiple amp hookup ( which I haven't tried or felt the need to yet ) They were floor models and came as is. I had no spec's and was missing a connector on the back of one linking the two hookups for amps. ( not klipsch's fault,, it was the store's ) I called klipsch and told them and I had both in my mailbox free of charge 3 days later!!! A++ for customer service also. I thought my cerwin vega 315's were good, which they are, however these 20's are amazing. I read the reviews saying they are big. Yes they are heavy, but more tall than wide. So even small areas don't get to cramped with these. I also bought a klipsch 200 subwoofer at the same time and am currently using it with another system in my house. The 20's seriously don't need a sub. The bass is clean and punchy. Here is a list of some cuts I like to listen to on the 20's...
Dave Matthews
Any female artist soars
KoRn
Pink Floyd
Deep Purple ( perfect strangers )
Soulfly
Classical of any kind... WOW!!!! William tells overture

Some movies that sound great...

True lies
Top Gun
Terminater 2 ( OH yeah )
Men in Black

If you ask me I stole these speakers. I would quickly pay $1000 for these and not bat an eye. Don't delay. Go out and listen or buy them today.

One last thing....add five more stars to my five star rating

I bought my KLF-20s to replace my Klipsch Chorus IIs. There is not much more to say that hasn't been said here already. Incredible value. We are talking about one of the finest sounding louding speakers I have ever heard, and an amazing price of under $1500. Sure I have heard speakers that do some things better (and other things worse), but none that do so many things so well. I can listen to these for hours, without listeners fatigue and more important, without boredom.

After seeing the reviews, and looking at the pictures and specifications, I decided to get a pair of KLF 20's. So I went to the store with my friend and listen to them. I think everyone here need to take a Q-tip and clean their ears because the sound I heard was clear but it had no bass. For the money I think it was the worst speakers I've listened to. Then I listened Jensens about $59 a speaker they were giving more bass. Klipsh is just like a BMW, but under the hood it has Hyundai engine. If you need bass, you must get a GOOD subwoofer with it. I have one question, after spending $1000 why would you need a subwoofer? By the way, I listened KLF 30's too, and there is not much difference!

Bright? You think KLF-20s are bright? By that do you mean heavy on the treble? Maybe you have the same problem I had.
You see the horn loaded midrange and tweeter of these amazing towers are very sensitive. More sensitive than the base drivers are. I played around with these speakers in my system and in my room and drew a couple of conlusions.

Sending a whimpy signal to these speakers ain't gonna cut it. If you send a whimpy signal to your average B&W speaker, you get a whimpy response, but an evenly whimpy resonse. You send that same signal to the KLF-20 and you get a whimpy response from the lower half, as you would expect, but better than average from the upper end, because of the high sensitivity of the horns. What you are hearing as "bright" is, in my opinion, not too much mid and high range, but rather a lack of signal which just isn't as noticable in the highs because the horns can make good use of that whimpy signal anyway. You go out and get yourself a better signal to send to these babies. I played around with cables and interconnects and settled on Kimber PBJ-4TC bi-amped to the towers, and Transparent Link-plus feeding the amp.

Secondly, room positioning. Once you get yourself a good signal, playing around with positioning in the room pays off even more. Remember these speakers are ported in the rear. Distance from the rear wall, side walls, and even a little angle-in from the corners makes subtle but definite differences, even in small movements. Even if you blow an entire weekend fiddling around like I did, I'll bet your judgement of these speakers will improve.

When I heard these units in the store, I was impressed. When I got them home I was dissappointed. I was loathe to drive the hour and a half to return these heavy boxes so I just suffered and figured I learned a lesson. Then I figured that if they had sounded so great in the store, something must be different... what could it be? That's when I started playing around. Some of my equipment wasn't up to par, and these speakers pointed it out. That's not the speaker's fault. If you heard a lot of brightness at the store, then that store hasn't figured out what I have figured out. You can find speakers near this price that sound different, but not better. At least I can't, and trust me, I've been looking.

Berkan's opinions seem extremely inconsistent with the other review posted here. It is unfortunate that he has voted it twice with a single star. But he is correct in that it is his opinion only and we should respect it. However, respect is earned and to earn that respect he should respect this forum and only give his rating once. Personally, I have tested the KLF20 extensively and found it superior to the Energy C-8. But, as we all know in-home accoustics can be siginificantly different than store accoustics. Too bad he didn't take home the Klipsch, he may have had a different opinion.
Quote from Stereo Review Magazine Below pretty much sums it up.

"...the overall sound of the KLF 20 was excellent. The output of the array of drivers was perfectly blended, with a stable stereo stage...Its bass drivers, operating below 750Hz, are obviously not true 'subwoofers,' but they are first-rate bass reproducers in their own right. Disregarding semantic considerations, it is apparent that the KLF 20, whose useful bass response extends to the vicinity of 25 to 30Hz, offers most of the performance that you would get from a speaker with an integral powered subwoofer, but at the cost of a more conventional speaker."

At first I did not like these speakers. I thought it was not that good for the money. Later I listened to them again connected to Yamaha 995 receiver and really liked them. However, it did not completely satisfy me for the type of music I listen to. I liked the Energy C-8s better but Klipsch KLF-20s and 30s are really good and worth the money if you don't mind listening little bright music. I hope everybody feels they made a good choice. Happy listening! I would give 4,5 stars but I can't so I will give 4 stars!

Brought home my 20's about 2 months ago, and must admit that the soundstage reproduction is incredibly accurate. I agree with everyone who says positioning of these speakers is crucial. A hair off and you will lose the imagery. Well, you don't lose it, but you know it could be better.
I listen primarily to the Grateful Dead and other alternatives. In my opinion, the Dead were meant to be heard through horns. After all, their speaker setup (which was arguably the best in the industry for 30 years) was primarily horns.

Very efficient speakers, that readily drop to 1-2 ohms, with a distinctive sound. If you have a lot of room to fill, they are perfect. If you live in an apartment, expect a call from your neighbors.

I picked mine up for $550. Most prices list around $750. You can talk them down.

I've had these speakers for a month now and love them. They truly are quite accurate with an ample supply of bass on hand. I'm using these as my mains for my Home Theater setup and I couldn't have made a better choice. My setup also includes:
Yamaha DSP-A1
Yamaha DSP-1
Klipsch C-5 (center)
Klipsch 1.1's (surrounds)
Klipsch KSW-200 (sub)
Sony HF VCR
Sony 500SD DVD
The bottom line is BUY THEM! You simply can not go wrong with these speakers! For the price you will not find a better choice (you can may even pay more and still not get speaker this good)! Absolutely 5 0f 5

I auditioned the KLF 20's 5 months ago along with Sonas Farber's (3500.00 pr) and the Mirage OM 6's (3000.00 pr) and regardless of the price, the KLF's were a clear choice. The Sonas Farbers are great speakers but a great price too. I had the Mirage OM 12's which have the omnipolar design and is great dispersing the sound around the room, but they lack bass. The KLF 20's are great on bass, just enough, and very clear midrange. They have a natural sound, not too bright and for the price they cannot be beat. Not to make this a forum but I'm curious how Doug from FLA got a pair for 550.00. They must be used. They retail for 1500.00 but Tweeter has them for 800.00 if you can find them. A 4 star rating but 5 stars for price.
