Strength:

Crisp sound,Good bass,Great power, Lots of volume, Good looking and compact.

Weakness:

Nothing to worry about but I would like to have a power button and a treble control on the main speaker.

Very happy with my purchase, had to upgrade my sound card though, installed the Sound Blaster Live 5.1 MP3+
Would do again in a heart beat.
Talked to Klipsch about sound cards and other info they were great very helpful.

Strength:

Clear highs and mids. Very accurate

Weakness:

high volumes distorted bass

Well, I, like many others got drawn into the hype of these speakers. I've had them for a few months now, and am reasonably satisfied. At reasonable volumes, with good sub placement, the sound is very nice. It will make you think twice about the 128kbs encoding on your MP3's (use 192 or higher) Sonically, the only problem that I saw is that it isn't very good at high volumes. The bass gets muddy, the treble overpowering. But perhaps I was expecting too much from computer speakers. For what they are (computer speakers) they are the best speakers you will find, but don't expect something that will challenge a real home stereo setup volume-wise.

note: all readings done on the 400's were done from 4 feet away. So don't get too excited about that 110db rating..

Strength:

incredible sound

Weakness:

hiss

i think these speakers are unbelievable.. they definitely rock...incredible bass very evident mids and clear highs...the infamous hiss is not a problem for me, i keep the sblive soundcard mixer cd and master volumes at 50-60% and i don't hear any hiss at all...in my opinion these speakers far surpass most home audio systems,, and are worth twice their current price,,,i would not be surprised if the price went up before long...
i have no reservation in recommending them to anyone....
'to hear them is to love them!!' lol

Strength:

Powerful, well designed, incredible value

Weakness:

No headphone jack

I've heard all kinds of computer systems, from Altec to CSW and JBL and let me tell you, for 250$ the promedia's are an unbeatable value. The sound is vintage Klipsch. The power, the detail, and the up front/live soundstage are all there. One of the reasons I bought these was because the satellites are actually a modified version of Klipsch's Quintets. All other computer speakers I've seen are designed only for the computer, they're made of cheap materials, and they are generally not speaker-like at all. The build quality is outstanding, and the resale value is also much greater then other computer speakers. While they might not have all the extras, like decoding and inputs/outputs, the Promedias are far and away the best mainstream pc speakers on the market at any price point.

Strength:

Very good power. Clarity seems to be very good with well recorded material. Nice styling. 2-way satellites. Famous Klipsch name.

Weakness:

No treble control. No on/off switch on pod. Goofy wires for satellites (thin gauge wire, 1/8 plugs).

I purchased these speakers on the strength of the reviews I have read and the solid reputation of Klipsch. I agree with many of the negative opinions I have read, namely, the 1/8 plugs and flimsy wire for the satellites and no on/off switch within reach. I must admit that the sound quality makes it hard to believe that I paid $179.99 for this entire setup. I was originally going to purchase an integrated amp and JBL N28 bookshelf speakers. My wife did not really like the idea of my taking up more room in our bedroom so I opted for the ProMedia 2.1 system. It was hard to actually give up an actual stereo setup as I go way back with this. But Klipsch surprised me in a pleasant way. Not only do these speakers sound like a stereo but they look good and don't cost really all that much when you consider what you are getting. On well recorded material, they render a very nice sound with good top end and plenty of bottom end. I was using the Cambridge Soundworks FPS-2000's prior to purchasing the ProMedia 2.1's and I must say that although the CSW speakers do sound very good, the Klipsch just blew them away. The main thing I miss is the remote volume control that the CSW's have. I started looking at the Klipsch and realized that I could remove the pod for somewhat remote operation. Kind of wiry but works. I must mention that I use a home CD player with the Klipsch and I have had no problem. I use this setup for music listening only. I would highly recommend this system to anyone looking for a really nice system for music listening or computer hookup.

By far the best sound that you can get from speakers for PCs

Weakness:

annoying sound when using the volume control

Excellent little speakers and subwoofer. My office really rocks! I have tested many speakers for the PC and none come even close to these. Thanks Klipsh!

Strength:

Highs; clean ,powerful bass, greast soundstage.

Weakness:

Not as clear as real hifi speakers, hissing.

For a sound enthusiast, there are no better speakers for the money.

Bass: I haven't tried them with DVD movies, but I'm sure they sound just great, their subwoofer is very well adapted to movie watching as i realized while listening to some mp3s of the THX sound. The bass is clean, not boomy like other PC speakers. You won't have to turn the bass all the way up to be shaken by it, be it while watching movies, playing games or listening to bass-heavy sounds.

Midrange: The midrange is better than anything for the computer that I have ever tried, but it is the Pros' weakness. You can use an equalizer to pump a little bit more juice in the midtones and it'll sound much better. It won't sound as good as real hifi speakers, however, but at $250 what did you expect?

Highs: Beautiful. Just beautiful. Just as the bass is the first thing that strikes you when you first test the speakers with rap or techno, the highs are the last thing you'll notice, when playing a THX test or listening to a sound-effects-heavy movie, you'll realize that the only place you've hear such great high sounds is in the movie theater.

Overall: Those speakers are exactly what anyone needs for the PC. They are good enough to make you hear the limitations in mp3s and wav sounds in games, but not good enough to sound like high-end hifi speakers when listening to CDs or (i guess) watch DVD movies. For the majority of the most common PC tasks, those speakers are good enough, and a little better than that, which is perfect. If you listen to a lot of CDs or watch a lot of DVDs on your computer, however, you might want to take a look at the more expensive Videologic Crossfire speakers. But if you are an average computer user or hardcore gamer or heavy mp3-listener like me, then those speakers are perfect for the price. There is some hissing, however, but it's not as loud as the noise your computer fan makes so... Go buy them now. Make sure you have a Sounblaster Live! or another 4 channel soundcard. And go check out the Klipsch bulletin boards for more info.

Strength:

Great Highs, Great Subs, Great sounds on tecnho ( my fav )

Weakness:

Confusing set up (at first)
No headphohne jack, Small hiss, Muddy midrange

I think these are pretty awesome, and loud speakers
The midrange could be better, on some softrock it sounded a little muddy... but if you turn it up then it goes away!

I had a hard time setting them up, im all thumbs when it comes to electronics
But they sure are worth the purchase, and the sub is awesome
