Strength:

Increadible clarity and imaging

Weakness:

None

I added these speakers to enhance the Quintet Microsystem I've been using for the last 2 years and, suprisingly, they balance in quite well with the rest of the system. For the room my home theater is in the KSW-10 10" subwoofer matched with RF-3 II's and the rest of the Quintets works well. Increadible soundstage, amazing sound clarity. Yes they're a bit bright, but that should mellow with a few more hours of break-in time. Highly recommended. (The wife will like them, they don't take up much space)

I have had a set of RF3's for the past year and still am amazed at how beautiful they sound. As this site does not have a page for the new RF7's which I installed about a week ago, I must say that if you like the RF3's you will love the RF7's.

Yes, I know they are considerably more expensive but they eclipse the RF3's in so many way's. I have been listening to "Love Over Gold" and am almost in tears at the way these speakers perform.

"Bloody Stunning"

The soundstage is immense, the bass is very deep and controlled, the imaging is pinpoint.

What can I say, if you are even thinking about these speakers, don't they are fantastic.

I never even listened to the R7's before buying them, knowing full well they would be better than the RF3's in every way.

Strength:

Big sound from sleek sized good looking speakers. Great in two channel audio, awesome in the home theater. Good Buy too!

Weakness:

None yet!

Bought the entire Reference Series 3II system. RF3-II forwards, RS3-II surounds, RC3-II center w/ KWS 12 sub woofer. Whole system delivered $1,600.00 from Acoustic Sound Design. www.acousticsounddesign.com . For an audio & home theater combination, no other speakers matched their sound in this price range. These things will give you plenty of low end bass and maintain an incredible sound stage in the high end. The mid range in home theater mode is superb from the RC3-II center & RS3-II surounds. The sub bass sets off rumblings on action DVD's. If your looking in this price range for good audio and great home theater - these are a must listen.
Enjoy - I sure am,

Jim

This review is actually regarding the Klipsch Reference RF-7. I'm posting this here because the audioreview.com admin refuse to create categories for any of the new Klipsch Reference products, even after I have personally submitted half a dozen such requests for the RF-7. I can't help but wonder if there is some unsavory connection between the admin of this site and the "other" speaker manufacturers - i.e. the makers of "high end" dynamic, electrostatic, and ribbon type speakers that claim that horn-loaded speakers introduce "colorations" into music - or the magazines that perpetuate the "colorations" myth (my apologies to anyone offended by my decision to post here, but I feel I had no choice). At any rate, the RF-7's are extremely efficient, offer a high power handling capability, and reproduce highs and midrange with exceptional clarity, but without any harsh or etched sound. Mid-bass is very responsive, with an almost physical impact. At all frequencies, imaging, transient response, and low-level detail are exceptional. Build quality is very solid (other than the plastic stabilizer "foot", mentioned below), and the RF-7's are a very attractive addition to my living room decor (mine are finished in maple).

Weakness:

With a MSRP of $2,200 and a discounted price of $1,700 (per pair), the RF-7's definitely price themselves out of the "mid-fi" category of mass-market consumer products. Availability seems to be unreasonably limited in any finish except black, since this particular pair was back-ordered for quite some time. The plastic stabilizer "feet" aren't strong enough to withstand the weight of the RF-7's and will break when you move the speakers if you let that weight rest on the "feet." The RF-7's are quite large (about 45" tall) and heavy (110 lbs.).

Overall, I have been extremely pleased with the RF-7's. The efficency rating of 102 Db allows quiet listening levels with very modest receivers or amplifiers, and live concert sound levels with my B&K Reference 2220 (220 Watt X 2). The power handling capability - 250 Watts continuous - is enough for all but the largest power amplifiers.

Highs and midrange are unveiled and clear, but without any harshness or etching. For example, cymbals sounds musical, with the initial contact, ringing, and decay of the cymbal sound distinct, not like white noise. Midrange is clear but unfatiguing in a similar way - even vocals at very high volume levels don't exhibit the harshness often heard in other speaker systems. Mid-bass transient response is excellent - try Little Feat's "Let It Roll." Each instrument's sound remains distinct and separately audible within the whole. Low-level details are clearly audible even at very low volume.

Although the build quality was exceptional overall, one of the plastic stabilizer "feet" did break while I was positioning the RF-7's. The cabinet, with its maple finish, makes the RF-7's seem like Ethan Allen pieces and blend perfectly with the room decor (the RF-7's are also available in cherry and black).

I don't believe I could improve on the sound quality of the RF-7's without spending considerably more, as well as sacrificing quite a bit of efficiency (thus requiring a larger, more expensive amplifier to achieve the same listening levels). Other than the weak "foot", the build quality is as much as I could wish for. Although the speakers are quite large and heavy, I have enough space to accommodate them and I don't plan to move them around constantly. I would definitely buy them again for the same price (or even a little more if necessary).

Let me mention All Home Theater for a moment: most items are available at 25% discount compared to MSRP, the staff is helpful and knowledgeable, and they don't make any false promises or misleading statements. Ask for Andrew.

The RF-7's replaced Cerwin-Vega LS-12's (with similar efficiency); I auditioned JBL Studio Series (not enough efficiency) and Monitor Audio Gold (not enough efficiency, too expensive) before buying,

Strength:

Great overall speaker

Weakness:

Nothing to complain about

There is absolutely nothing in this price range that beats these speakers. It can even hang with others in much higher price ranges. They will play clearly at very high volumes. I researched A LOT before purchasing these and you can't, I repeat, you can't go wrong with the these. I highly recommend the Klipsch name and love these speakers.

Overall Sound Quality (Lows/Mids/Highs) Great Performance. Very Efficient.

Weakness:

None of these are a problem for me, but may be for others...
Tall, Heavy, and you'll break the grills if you aren't careful. For the price you should be careful with them anyway.

I think these speakers ROCK! I am anal about detail so I spent a lot of time researching new speakers. I had four Bose 301 speakers for my H/T which I needed to replace. I thought I wanted infinity and was all set to go waist my money. First I bought a pair of SF-1's and the SC-1. When I compared the SF-1 to the infinity tower that was about $100 more a speaker, it blew them away. So I took them home. I loved those so much that I figured I needed to get something in the Reference Series for the front and put my SF-1s in the rear (My wife also didn't want me to hang those "stupid looking things" in the back, and suggested I get two more tower speakers. YES!) With the horns the RF-3's have great treble. Other than that, the bass is something else too. It is very tight, and allowed me to turn the lowpass filter on my subwoofer down, making the whole damn system sound great. By the way, those SF-1s as rear speakers blow me away. I hardly ever heard sound come out of my old bose 301s and now I actually had to turn down the rear volume levels on my receiver. Definately go with these speakers, from my store tests it beat every speaker (even those which cost much more!) in the room.

the listener must be placed into loudspeaker´s axis in order to listen high frecuencies fully

my RF-3 are driven by yamaha AX-892 integrated amplifier, the sound is loud and clear.

aluminium cones delivers a powerful bass without distortion, the sound stage was accurate.

titanium tweeter delivers very natural highs, the cymbals sounds very real.

if RF-3 are placed on carpeted floor, the results are very nice, spikes for carpet are provided.

the rf-3s are the best speaker for the buck. I listened to the klf 20's next to the rf-3's not enough difference to pay $400 more dollars. The stance on these speakers give them kind of a mean look. listening to music or watching a movie these speakers can do it all. If you get these speakers don't pay more than $800.00. My father in-law was looking to buy a hometheatre and the same guy that sold me the rf-3's for 700 was trying to sell them to my father-in-law for a 1000! That is rediculous. These speakers are good but not a thousand dollars good
