From what I have seen ,there are so many speakers on the market today, that not one speaker can satisfy everyone. But you should be the judge of your best taste and not let others do so for their benefit. I have heard NUANCE and I love them.I found it to be a very durable, powerful speaker and beautiful imaging at the same time.I love the fact that you have a one year trade up with them where you get to bring back the nuance you bought first and invest the money you paid for them into your new ones. A 10 year warranty is always good to have for even though they are durable, you never know what could ever happen accidently. I wish they would advertise a little more, because maybe people reading different consumer reports will understand not to trust the book but the actual sense of hearing, and find out how great nuance is.They will sound great with ANY CD!! Unfortunately some people cant afford it at times and they love them so much, so their love turns to hate which is a feeling one has when one cant get what he wants.Nowadays all speakers are good, its 1999 so garbage isnt made anymore but I will always love nuance and it was MY CHOICE.

I like nuance alot.I have had great service and great pleasure in listening to them since the day I bought them.I play every kind of cd on them and they sounds just great.I love watching DVD's on them even more. The price was just like many speakers on the market now and priced in the same way too.I just want to say that the number of people buying nuance lately has increased and it will soon be number one in superiority.I encourage everyone to buy them if they want true sound. You can bring your own CDs if you dont believe it and stand in any corner of the room(there is not a big difference).Dont blame a speaker if you dont have the right equipment to run it .

After listening to a number of "full-range" tower speakers available in the $1000-$1500 dollar range, I settled on Nuance's Spatial 3CLs. The only area where they are lacking is the very high end (approx. 16khz). Contrary to popular belief, these are the best full range towers (if not the only high end towers) in this price range. PROS... The 10 year warranty & trade up value are a good start. The sharp deep bass created by the extra bass driver and oversized cabinet are a plus in my books. The tonal quality is very good. There are no mid-range sounds that escape reproduction. The clarity of these speakers is surprisingly well accomplished considering the simplicity of the design. One of the best aspects of this speaker is its power efficientcy & sensitivity. These speakers can make a relatively low-power amp sound a lot louder! CONS... I find the shallow voice coil a little disturbing, although I haven't had any trouble yet. The price I find a little too high (as I do with all speakers). The very top end sound around 16khz is very weak. Any speaker that costs $1300.00 should have done better in this area in my opinion.TIPS WHEN BUYING...Another myth associated with Nuance is their allowance for you to listen to your own music. I was allowed with no problems to bring & listen to my own music. Keep in mind that the 3D spatial sound that is reporduced in the demo can be done by ANY GOOD SPEAKER, the Spatial 3CL just happens to be a good speaker (not exclusively!).
***VERY IMPORTANT!***
Do not buy the Nuance Spatial 3CL if you are using it with a Home Theater Receiver!!! Make sure that the amp you are using has a FULL RANGE MAIN CHANNEL! Most modern home theater receivers have a built in bass management system that will direct most of the lower frequencies to the sub-woofer channel. If connected to this type of system, the second driver which is "cross-overed" for bass enhancement will be virtually useless. Do not bother to ask the salesman about this feature because they will have no idea what you are talking about. The only ways to solve this problem is,
A)Do not buy a multi-channel dolby receiver. Buy a high end stereo amp.
B)Test the system at the store first. That is the only way to know for sure if the amp you are using will have true full range capabilities.
For this reason, the Spatial 3CLs are best used (by far!) for music playback. Although, I use them with a dolby pro-logic amp that has true full range sound and movies never sounded better! If you have/find such an amp, you will not need a sub-woofer!
Overall this is a good speaker best used by music enthusiasts, decent value (when you look at the OTHER prices), only lacking in the very top end (16khz) which only presents a lack of "airiness" which may even be preferential for some listeners.

Strength:

great sound quality, clear powerful bass with great range for towers, considering their 'cheap' parts, with my harmon kardon amp put at max, they didnt ever distort... so Im down with the cheap parts

Weakness:

the mark-up, I confess I didnt know how large the markup truly was, I recommend noone ever 1250 like I did, have to confess to lacking high range sound... my 400 technics speakers did better... course that's what my sat speakers are for :)

For my dollar... I love these speakers. I think the sales rep is a low-life, and the sales pitch is horrible. I went into international knowing I wanted nuance, and I wanted big nuance. I got the 'these are 3500$ speakers Im giving you for so cheap', and I got almost closed my eyes during the demo.
I took them and I will never regret it. I have never had a better sounding speaker.

Warranty,low cost,excellent sound,big bass,full product line

Weakness:

Sale reps,bad reputation,

I have heard nothing but bad things about these speakers.I can't understand why?Anyone that I have had listen to these speakers has had nothing but praise for them.First complaint, price or "value" well to anyone intelligent, that "want" comes last when it comes to good speakers.Sound quality comes first and I have had these speakers next to the competition. And they hold there own.I find that most people who complain about nuance are the sales"dudes" themselves who try and de-value the store they work for and hate. And guys who think they are audio pros, the ones who read all the "mags" and talk about speakers they will never hear or afford. They buy nuance on what can only be based one thing quality. It's suprising to me that these people suddenly become experts ONLY after buying nuance.Bottom line on nuance, whatever line or size your thinking of getting get'em.Just listen to your ears you won't be disapointed.

This site is designed to help others in making an informed decision about buying a speaker system. I work as a manager in a computer store. I bought the baby 3d spatials over a year ago. This speaker has a built in 100W Sub on each side. At the time I bought it, I brought my own music in to try them out. They sounded great. I made the mistake of not getting a good receiver at the time, I asked the salesperson. He said with these speakers, any receiver would sound good. I bought the Pioneer VSD-209 (60W / channel) These only costed $300.00. Now I realize the rep was there just to sell the speakers because there must be a large spiff on them and not the receivers.

Just last week, I went to International Stereo on the northside and talked to a saleman. This time he was very informative and explained to me in more detail about the receiver, he was also very co-operative and hooked up the vsd-209 they had in stock to show me the difference in the sound. I went as far as to ask him to take off the grills. with the cheap receiver at 60w / channel, the speakers were moving in and out like crazy. the saleman explained to me that even though the pioneer has 60w, there is a lot of dirty noise going to the speakers.

when he hooked up the harmon kardon avr-310, again rated at 60w / channel, the sound was much clearer. I was disappointed I didn't buy the better receiver sooner. what they had on demo is the same set on speakers I owned. now turning up the receiver even at +10decibels, the speakers hardly moved in and out and the sound was really clear!

Their price on the receiver was $1399.99, future shop had it for $1199.99. I went to talk to the saleman at future shop. I walked into a room where the had the harmon kardon avr-310. I could have went down a step to the avr-210 (I think) it was $300.00 cheaper. but was explained this was 60w / channel instead of 40w / channel. the second difference was the avr-310 produced 35 amp high current instead of 25 amp. my pioneer vsd-209 only produced ~5amp?

They played some music on the speakers they had there. I don't recall the brand name. They didn't have as many speakers in them as mine did. even with the avr-310 playing at loud volumes on these speakers, they sounded terrible. I told the future shop rep, these speakers didn't sound as good as my nuance. the future shop rep explained to me that nuance will always sound good by themselves because they put big speakers into they cabinets. with the "other" speaker, it is designed to be used in a 5 speaker home theatre setup. His exact words were " I wish we sold them here"

Bottom line, I was disappointed before I bought the harmon kardon receiver. I couldn't care less how my speakers are made, nor what they are made of. There has been some very educational opinions on this site, many of these opinions come from people who took the time to research the product, talk to the president, have an open mind. I feel my business can't last as long as it did if the products or service I provide is not the best. same with nuance, they did not make it to #1 just by deceiving customer's and selling crappy stuff. There has to be a reason.

Strength:

Great bang for the buck

Weakness:

this review board

I have had my 5 nuance speakers for almost 2 years, and they receive nothing but compliments from others. In my opinion they are quite good, but nothing compared to Bang&Olufsen. Mine definitely aren't the best for thundering, room-filling bass without a subwoofer, but I have neighbours.

I have heard nuances sound bad (when someone attached theirs to a pro-logic amp) and a friend of mine hacks his little nuances every time the topic comes up, but he has 5 of those little 6" driver speakers...

As for car stereo, you learn to appreciate good quality car stereo when you are in your car commuting 2 hours a day. I personally prefer Focal car stereo speakers, but then again, I am not an "Audiophile", I am a "electronics engineer".

Strength:

They sound great!

Weakness:

Price, isn't it always though, Salesmen at most of the stores.

I bought a set of these speakers a couple weeks ago, I went into the International Stereo and was expecting to be rushed by every salesman in there. I walked around for a couple minutes and one did aproach me, I told him what I was looking for and he led me to the demo room where the Nuance rep was. I sat and talked with him, listened to the demo, didn't believe parts of it, so I asked him if we could unplug the center and satelite speakers and listen to it again, so we did it and sounded great and I knew it was just those 2 speakers. I think a key to making these speakers sound good is a quality reciever and good quality speaker cable and cables between components. You could have the highest end speaker on the planet, but if you have a terrible reciever you won't get the quality sound.

I took these things home and hooked them up along and they're great. I love them. The salesman at this store were very nice, down to earth people who didn't pressure me or anything like that. That was part of the reason I decided to get these. So, not all the salesmen are jerks, but yeah most of them are.

If you want to test these speakers out, take one of the Pearl Jam bootleg cd's and listen to it, you will know what the deal with the "spatial" is all about. This sold me on them. They components may not all be the best out there, but when you put them all together you get a very nice speaker.

Just to let you all know, I don't work for Nuance or any electronics company for that matter. I work in the architectural field, so I'm not here to disrespect anyone else's product and I'm not trying to sell you on Nuance. In the end it's what you think, I found these were the best sounding speakers to me, you may think different and to each his own, everyone has different tastes right? But give them a listen to and I think you will be impressed.

Strength:

Sound GREAT, can handle all listening situations well, especially DVDs.

Weakness:

Price, pushy salesmen, weighty.

My speakers sound great, I'm very satisfied with them. They actually sound much better than I expected, and I have not thrown a party yet that ANYONE wasn't happy with the sound. A few of my friends mave bought them since I've bought mine.

For anyone that is borderline on buying Spatial 3Ds, 3Es, etc., don't listen to these unemployed pricks that write into this. This site is to tell people how the equipment that YOU (this means you YOURSELF, not your bum-buddy that has a set of Nuance and you heard them once when you were drunk) have and what you think of it. I really don't give a sh** whether you pre-teens work for Nuance or not, thats not what this site is for. This isn't a chatroom, its something for consumers to find out what they want. Give us all a break, and stick to those little-boy masturbation chatrooms and stay out of this site, you may be surprised to find out that there ARE some people with RESPECT out there, obviously you idiots don't know what that is. In my spare time, I usually play sports, go to the bar, pick up chicks (something you studs know nothing about, obviously), party, or use my system; I don't sit in front of my computer thinking sh** like this up. You pimple-faced geeks must be REALLY motivated in life, there's more to it than your $600 stereo. Try putting on your shoes and going outside and doing something productive, it might even change your useless life...

For anyone writing an actual opinion on something you OWN, thank-you, its a welcome relief.

Okay all you Nuance owners... I am not a rep and I don't work for any stereo shop, I am a regular comsumer like all of you. I got started with Harman Kardon equipment and Nuance speakers, I was happy with the set up, I spent a load of money and I wanted to think I had the best for the money . So one day my amp breaks down and I end up buying a rotel pre-amp amp set up. The difference was obvious, my system soundeds clearer, more detailed and the sound stage improved, in otherwords I did not know what I was missing because I was used to defending what I had. Next step was replacing my Nuance towers with a set of Paradigm Studio 100's..... I could not believe the difference and improvement!!! Sound stage, clarity, focus non-bloated bass were the most obvious improvement and they cost less than the Nuance!!! I ended going up to Proceed and changing cables and noticed improvement all the way. So my buddy who I conned into buying the Nuance brought them over to do a comparison..... there was no comparison. The nuance sounded like there was a pillow in front of them , highs sound like breaking glass, bass is bloated and un defined. I just laugh at you goofs who get on this site to massage your feelings of shame for having bought a set of speakers that deep down you knew were bad and then finding all of the web sites dedicated to telling you what your gut knows. I don't mind a strong opinion or even an argument from someone who has actually educated themselves on the topic and done some real world comparisons, but you deftones really deserve to own Nuance!
As for deciding not to let anyone review them... would you buy a car that Ford or Chev will not let anyone review? Think about it.
Mabee fort a hoot, take apart a Nuance speake Like I difd and compare it to another reutable company's. If you have the guts to do it you will see what I mean and why Nuance gets **** on.
