Strength:

they have good bass and they have good treble and a over all good sound. i think that if you are looking to upgrade to a better speaker nuance is a good speaker. they are pretty effeciant they are a good weight which is good. and they are gold plated where you put the wires.

Weakness:

well compared to some speakers they're highs are a little low

well everybody is gonna have their arguments and that is natural. but nuance is a good speaker and they sound great. they have to have the proper power though i have an onkyo receiver about 100 watts a channel it powers my speakers fine. it shakes the house and i don't turn them past half way. they are good to buy though they are cheaper than bose and your not paying for the name. i believe your paying for the overall quality of the speaker. don't listen to some of these guys they must not know cause even my brother says there awesome and he has had awesome speakers. they are not to big either. they are a good size. and the store you can't usually tell how good they're gonna be your in a crappy room you would have to buy a pair to appreciate the actual sound quality. i hope you make the right decision

but if you don't know if they are good or not then don't say nothing you are just trying to make other companies sound better when you really don't know what you are talking about.

Great sound

Weakness:

None except envious bashers

Maybe one of these no it alls on this site can answer me a question. If Nuance speakers are such overpriced crap that sounds terrible, then why do they sell more speakers than all other brands put together. Is it that most people havent been enlightened by your high powered perception of what a good or bad speaker is? Give me a break, Nuance speakers sound great, and you wouldnt put so much time into bashing a crappy speaker unless you were a dealer. Dont kid yourself there isnt a dealer in canada that wouldnt jump at the chance to sell nuance. Find something else to do with your time but bash great speakers, it just makes you look like a dumb f***. Dont forget to get all pissy and call me all kinds of names in your next review, i wouldnt want it any other way. Get a friggin life!

Strength:

Strengths are all personal preferences

Weakness:

Weaknesses are all personal preferences

If you look carefully, most people who bash Nuance speakers don't even own a pair!

Most who do own a pait want to know whether they got ripped off because they've read all the nonsense on this website.

I'll be honest in that I do sell Nuance, but I doubt bragging about them here is going to help me sell a lot more. I've never asked a customer if he's read the great reviews on the net or anything like that.

Let's firstly clarify that the approach of the salesman has absolutely nothing to do with the quality of the speaker.
That being said, the sales demo is not rigged.
You are only hearing two speakers, and you are listening only to CDs that you can buy at any store. If you don't believe me, check out the demo yourself. Check the CD player, it's playing a regular CD. Check the reciever, it's playing in stereo. For the skeptics, did you know that stereo means only two speakers???

If you bought a pair, your getting exactly what you heard in the store. If they don't sound as good in your home, maybe they are not set up properly.

People complaining about cheap parts, cheap web-sites, the cheap 'look' of the drivers, the lack of specs... what the hell is wrong with you? What matters most in a speaker is how it sounds. If it sounded good to you, then why are you upset that you bought a pair of speakers that sound good to you? If you didn't by a pair, how can you be reviewing these speakers?

A word about speakers that sound better or worse than Nuance. Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. In a given price range, there's only personal preferences to make Bose sound better, or Nuance sound better, or whatever other brand sound better... Use your own common sense. Before you drop $1000+ on speakers, take music that YOU listen to, listen to a few different brands playing YOUR music, and figure out what YOU like the best.

Price, Pathetic Nuance Demonstrators

Did you buy a set of nuances? But the form on audio review is just plain funny... haha... I have some information for you regarding your speakers... I'm guessing you got a set of Spatial 3d's or 3e's or a set of Star 4M's by the sounds of the price(s)... I used to Promote Nuance, and I must say that the way George markets the speakers is incredable... Most of the people that purchase them are not even looking for home theatre, they are looking for something else in the store, then usually a salesman asks if they would like to see something cool or intersting.. Enter Nuance..

Once you get in the room, they usually show you the imaging of the speakers telling you what you will hear.. There are a few variations of the demo, but for the most part it involves a few roger waters tracks, hotel california, and perhapse a movie of some sort. All of their music is actually hand picked by the rep, whatever they figue makes the speakers sound good, they use... Some cd's are known as well for using qsound, all depends on the tracks, but it is not a special demo cd by anymeans.

They are a decent set of speakers, marketed as high end, by wich they are not...

Nuance actually has their own plant where they manufacture the units in ontario. The Drivers they use are not high end by anymeans, they are paper drivers coated with a black paint to make them look high end with a butyl surround.. The Tweeter is as good as any soft dome tweeter. Their subs on the other hand are a decent quality sub, built well, and produces alot of bass with a rather low power amp. Most Nuance spkrs have an N100 or N200 amp, wich in reality put out about 50w rms, and the n200 puts out 50w x2 rms. Very low power by any means...

In short, Nuance sounds decent to a regular everyday person.. It has lots of treble, almost deafening, and alot of bass... But very little midrange... It is a Lower end speaker marketed as high end.

Let me know what else you would like to know, and I'd be happy to answer your questions. Myself, I own a set of Star 4m's, two Nuance Magic Sub Rs, and a set of Star 1sm's.. I believe they are a great speaker, and I recommend experiencing the demo as it is truely something you don't want to miss.. In reality, sure a person can spend from $1500-7000 depending on what speakers they want, but if you really do get a set of powered towers such as baby 3d's/3e's, and pay even around the $2500 price range, I can guarantee that there is no other speaker that even comes close to the bass and sound quality you will get for that price. The Klipsch Powered towers usually sell for $5000-10000 and they are the only speakers that come close to the same sound...

Check em out! they're worth a listen :)

Strength:

great sound

Weakness:

broke a grille took almost 6 months before I got a new one, cheesey sales pitch

I run these speakers with a Carver M 200-T amp and a Carver C-1 pre amp. I originally had them hooked up to a 60x2 receiver and they seem to be a very efficient speaker with great trebble a warm mid and a nice projecting bass, without having alot of power going to them. They are deffinately not the best speakers in the world like the sales rep will try to convince of,but I would say that they are deffinately comparable to most good names in the audio industry in the same price range and some that are more money. I am completely happy with these except for as I mentioned it took 6 months to get a replacement grille for the one speaker but at least they came good for it.

Strength:

uhhh. not too sure

Weakness:

hoping you guys 'll tell me this one

I have a friend who got some nuance speakers and they don't exctly seem to blow you away with surround sound at home like they do in the store. So I wanna hear from some actual people about whether this is a scam or not and if yes then i'm looking for some evidence I can use. Noone seems to leave valid e-mails so i'm posting this to get people to answer

If it's the truth about the surround speakers keith found hidden in the nuance demo room I'd like to learn more about it from anyone who's seen it or knows anything about this kinda stuff goin on.

If it's a scam I wanna uncover those b---ards and do something about it.

give me stats, names, places, dates, anything that proves they deliberately and unarguably LIE about their product and mislead customers. if you don't have evidence yourself tell me where i can find it. AND DON'T GIVE ME ANY BULLS***!!! nothing's gonna happen if no proof can be found for these claims

We all got enough stuff to deal with without getting ripped off by "legitimate" stores we're supposed to be able to trust.

Strength:

Well made cabinets, binding posts, speaker spikes, etc

Weakness:

Poor drivers, crossover, pushy annoying uneducated salesmen. They are the pimps of the speaker world

They are not bad speakers, they have lots going for them. The cabinets are of acceptible quality(nothing special), they have speaker spikes which is nice, and they have 5 way binding posts (pretty decent). But they also have many downfalls. The cabinets (while rigid and heavy) are also very big and very heavy, unnescesarily so. The drivers are nothing special i wasnt happy that they are not sheilded. And there are a vbariety of other mechanical things wrong with the speakers. The design of "lets add as many of the same drivers to the speakers" is a dumb one. I can just imagine the crossover in their top of the line model which has 5 subs, 2 mids and 1 tweeter. The sound is definnatly muddled, the highs seem good and the mids are a littly jumpy and the bass is undefined. But the over all sound is alright, but nothing special.
The price is absolutely ludicrus. The price of their systems are actually halarious, I know for a fact that I could pay one third the price of nuance and get twice the sound. My home theater which consists of

HarmonKardon AVR55
ENERGY AC300 (center)
Energy EXL16 (FRONTS)
Energy EXL15 (rears)
Nuance Babysub
Toshiba 6 disc dvd
Kimber cable wire

Was purchased for a very small ammount of money, absolutely blew my friends Nuance system away. TRhe dialogue was clearer, the sound effects had more definition, and my system didnt make me rearange my entire living room to store my collection of very large black boxes.I picked up the Nuance sub up in the bargan finder, although not very musical it does well for hometheater.
iknow this is a long review, but it bothers me to constantly see people blowing their money on low-fi while paying hi-fi prices. I think these bad experiences will scare allot of people off of hi-fi. And definantly take a chunk out of their wallet. My advice is stay away from places that only sell nuance, and listen to some other mid-fi brands like energy, psb, paradigm, etc. You will save allot of money and get better sound. But if you come across a good deal on some nuance speakers (nothing over a thousand, you'd be a fool) pick them up, if you really dont like them you can change the drivers and build your own crossover, or just sell them in the barganfinder.

almost in a classs of their own. They're cabinets, binding posts and speaker spikes all say mid-fi, but they're drivers, crossovers, and various other components and design say low-fi to me. So they would be a mix of radioshack, technics, and paradigm for example.

Strength:

adequate sound stage. interesting imaging (3d effects). clear and effective for the $$.

Weakness:

fuzzy bass reproduction. tries to do too much. some speakers are for audio and others are for video. these try to do both. (and some of that is done better than others)

So, unlike most of you I'm not going to bash each other for buying these (spatial grande 3cs). I will say that in Calgary and for the money these are not too bad aside from the bass reproduction, which at times can be a little fuzzy. I listen to a lot of Blues, Jazz and many different types of rock from heavy industrial stuff to your standard mess that is played on the radio. For the most part I enjoy these speakers.

Just last week I went around to some of the "high end" shops down town and took a listen to some nice equipment. After being asked what I used (which is a 10 year old sony es a/v amp and a Sony 5 disc CD player along with the above speakers) I was told that I was crazy and that they are crap, bla, bla - you've heard all that before.

So, after asking the salesman to suggest what I could do to improve the sound he told me to look to the source, in my case the CD player to improve the quality. I also asked him what to listen for to determine if these speakers do in fact have the ability to play with the other manufactures. Taking his advice I put on some familiar recordings;

1. Eric Clapton - unplugged / running on faith, alberta, old love
2. Eric Clapton - Blues Disc 1 / before you accuse me, ain't that loving you
3. Diana Krall - When I look in your eyes / Devil may care, why should I care
4. SRV - Blues @ Sunrise / The sky is crying

Some of the above tracks are the tracks I played after the salesman did his pitch at soundsurround, which I could have done without and they are the same tracks that I listened to after last weekends lesson from the salesman at the high end shop downtown. The sound stage reproduction of these speakers, in my opinion, are very effective for the money and even after reading the negative reports from others on this site I am still glad that I purchased them. Don’t get me wrong, if I had some $50,000 to spend on speakers I’d probably have purchased the B&W N801’s.

So, what I’m trying to say is make sure you’re familiar with some tracks you want to hear. (Listening to them on the more expensive equipment and in the fancy rooms helps as well) then if you decide to purchase something like this make sure the rest of your setup is at the same level of quality as your new speakers. All the speakers do is reproduce a signal, an amp amplifies and a CD player, you guessed it plays. Make sure that at least 10% of your budget is spent on interconnects, cabling, and a good power source. That way you’ll spend more time listening to what you enjoy and less on a site like this.

I have heard many different types of speakers but i ended up with Nuance. Simply because it is one of the very few speakers that can handle both movies and regular music very well. Not many speakers out there can handle that. Most of the speakers out there either handles music very well or movies, not both. Moreover, most of the other brands out there try to sound like each other but Nuance sounds different.
