Too many to list, the evil nuance reps at international stereo in edmonton I bought a pair of Grand Spatials, used for 800 bucks (the preveous owner was probably just happy getting any money back for his 300 pound paper weights). When i first heard them they were impressive, keep in mind i was just begining to get a good ear for sound quality, and the bass was insane. The grand spatials have 10 10"subs, and they pump. But as i listened to them more and more i realized what peices of crap they were. Muddy midrange and squeeky highs, and the bass was all over the place. I went to international before i bought these speakers and listened to all of their bull crap propaganda. It sucked me in and had me beleiving that nuance was a quality name. Well, i've seen a mid, loose out of the box, and it looks like a cheap, paper, made in korea peice of junk. All i can say to you nuance hardcores is try listening to some real speakers, and loud isn't everything. But i guess 7000 dollars is a hard pill to swallow, so i'll forgive you for defending nuance. ??? I purchased a Nuance spacial 3 home theatre speaker system in Feb. '98 - two towers, one center, two sats, and one sub. for about $2400 new. These are driven by my Harman Kardon AVR 85. Looking back I guess it was an odd marketing scheme, indeed. But, after almost three years of listening to every audio source imaginable through them, my ears have convinced me that I wasn't ripped off. Furthermore, dozens or more friends ( who, like me, have never heard of Nuance ) are amazed by the sound quality we hear. I might add that I'm 45 y.o. and my first and only previous stereo purchase was an unheard of $4800 in 1979 ( bose 901, Kenwood, etc. etc. ). I pieced THAT system together on specs and namebrand alone. I've since learned to FIRST AND FOREMOST let your ears be the judge, and use the specs only to reassure what your ears have told you. I just picked up a complete set of Nuance Spatial speakers: 4 Spacial Grand 3DS, 1 Spacial N200 sub, 1 Spacial Cen Pro center channel. I paid $3000 for the set - and, yes I know all about the Nuance sales approach - "gee, the system you're buying is worth $11000 but you're getting it for $3000". I just had to give these speakers a try.My first impression of these speakers is 'wow, two thumbs up' ! |

IMPROVE YOUR NUANCES BY 100%!!! After a 15 year old pair of B&W DM220s put my Nuances to shame, I was curious why these speakers of almost identical design sounded so much better. I removed a woofer from both each speaker and found that the B&Ws were totally stuffed with insulation, while the Nuances were fairly sparce on insulation. I took the stuffing out of an old pair of garage sale Pioneer's I had lying around and stuffed the Nuances. Lo and behold, the Nuances sound 100% better, especially the bass and midbass. |

Strength:
great sound, 'nuff said!
Weakness:
the initial price. haggle a bit for them if you can. we bought these speakers after listening to them, learning a bit about them and deciding that we liked the fact that they were build here in the good old great white north. we've had them for a little while and i can't honestly understand why everyone is totally bashing them. obviously they're not the top of the line, but they sure can hold their own! i use them for my tv, dvd and stereo and the sound is pretty kick-a**. why would i need to go out and buy some european, $10,000+ speakers just to listen to my fav cd or watch a movie in my living room? i could understand it if your sound was a part of your profession (ex: DJ) but for basic home use why would you need anything more? i have a set of spatial 3's, 2 HT1's and a star cen pro and i couldn't be happier. and for those of you who keep complaining about the salespeople...yes they are a bit pushy but that's their job. and there is always one thing you can do..."just say no". if you're too weak willed to do so then you deserve what you get. if you go in there knowing what you want and what you're willing to pay then you won't get 'snowballed' into getting something you're not ready for. for anyone considering these speakers...don't listen to what anyone else has to say...go out and see for yourself, it's the only way you will know for sure. |

Bad press While visiting my sister in Calgary I got the privilige to witness the "Nuance sound off 2000"Nuance S3 towers against the formidable Paradigm studio 80's.Both my sis and her boyfriend have h/k avr80 recievers(He got her one for xmas). Her boyfriend brought his reciever and paradigm's over in the process of moving, set them up side by side.To tell the truth neither sounded any better than the other. From low volume right on up till the avr80 was reading +5 on the volume scale, they were =.Cheap speakers?Yeah allright give'em to me and then bring over your pair(any pair)of expensive snobby speakers and then we'll "race'em".Winner gets braggin rights.
