Strength:
Deep bass, clarity at high volumes
Weakness:
A little bulky and heavy. After buying a pair of Nuance speakers, I decided to do a little research and found this site. I probably should have done it before. Anyway, I am quite happy with my speakers. The built in sub is great, and sounds great with my Cerwin Vega 10" downfiring sub that I still have in the rear. They produce a big, strong sound, and that is a good thing. I like the trade in policy as well. The cabinets are great, very classy. Similar Products Used: Wharfedale, JBL, Bose |

Strength:
Clarity and precision of all the details on my music
Weakness:
No dealers in Quebec I also would like to comment that I am a NUANCE owner and I have been a happy one for the past 8 years. I am up to my third set of NUANCE. I first started with a set of 110 Premiere series, what a speaker that was. Then I upgraded to a set of NUANCE Spatial 3 Rosewood Gloss with a Spatial Cen and I had the 110 in the back for a while. I am always in a hurry when I buy a new cd and I want to come back at home as soon as possible and listen ONLY to that new cd on my NUANCE speakers. The sound experience is breathtaking, more like being there with the music. I bought my equipment at Stereo Plus in Quebec City and everyone was excited by this product in the store. I dealt with the same salesperson for all these years and he’s a great guy I even got a good price on my new Yamaha receiver only because I had sent all my family and friends and that they bought NUANCE products like I did. My third system is now a set of black lacquered tops and bottom with a grill clothe all around called NUANCE Ultimate (yes everyone) 6 feet tall towers with built in Subs and 200 watt amplifiers, I also got 2 Grand Cen in the front and 3 way towers in the back Grand 3S. At a sale last year I picked up a NUANCE Grand Sub also with black lacquered top. If you want let me know and I’ll send you a picture of my speakers or check out if you’d like lesoleil.com it’s in french but they have some great articles about the product. One last thing is that in Quebec no one is carrying NUANCE products at this time and it’s a shame that the chain of stores were I bought mine replaced them with some common brands, I guess it’s there loss. I blew an amp once, and I was thrilled to get a replacement from NUANCE in 3 days, by the way there speakers are 10 years warranty because these people care about guys like me that work hard for their money. Keep up the good work Mr NUANCE yours forever. Eric Pearson Similar Products Used: Paradigm, Definitive, Energy |

Strength:
can be loud, image well
Weakness:
bright treble, slow bass While in Edmonton recently on business, I had a bit of spare time, so I dropped by International Stereo so that I could see these Nuance speakers for myself... just to see what the fuss is about. For the record, I own a Linn-based system and have been an audio enthusiast for over 15 years, so I'm not a novice. I've owned a number of different speakers, and have heard speakers from $300 B&W standmounts to $80,000 Wilsons. I think I'm pretty objective. Visually, the drivers look cheap, and the cabinetry is marginal. At International Stereo, I got shuffled into the Nuance room. I was told that Nuance was the biggest selling speaker in North America (highly suspect). The demo guy then played a few Roger Waters Q-sound encoded tracks (from Amused to Death - I have the CD at home) to show off the imaging. To be honest, it wasn't bad with sound effects. I'd imagine a lot of people are impressed with this part of the demo. The next part was a segment from the Eagle's Hell Freezes over Live CD. Here's where it all came apart. The guitars were metallic and bright and the cymbals were splashy. When the demo guy tried to demo the 'bass' through turning up the subs, it was loose and uncontrolled. Rather than a 'thump', the bass drum was more of a 'whhhoooommm'. It was loud though. In terms of pricing, I'm sure there's flexibility for dealing, but that just tells me that the mark-up is huge. I can't recommend these speakers, and would suggest users who want a speaker that does movies and music would be better off with the similarly styled Definitive Technology line of speakers... their treble is much smoother and the bass is tighter. For those that like their Nuance speakers, good for you. If it sounds good to you, it is good. Just don't go listen to music on B&W, Linn, Revel, Boston Acoustics, Energy, Mirage etc.... because you'll be disappointed when you get home. Strength:
superior sound quality, you'll never regret buying them
Weakness:
High sticker price (but you can get them down, waaaaaaaaaay down) If you actually read pretty much all of the reviews bashing Nuance, the people writing them sound like slow-minded bullies who have nothing better to do than to hold a grudge of some sort. I am willing to bet that most of these people are between 16-20 years old, have never owned decent home audio system, and have about 98% of their home audio knowledge from browsing in stores. I have owned a set of Nuance Baby3D's for about five months now, and I am still impressed every time I turn my system on. My friends can't believe the sound quality when we are watching movies, and my neighbors are growing less fond of me by the week. So whatever negativities you read on this site, don't believe them, and don't be turned off by the pushy salesmen, use it to your advantage, they LOVE to deal. Awsome sound
Weakness:
Heavy Boxes-200 lbs Little Pricy! I have to say that this is a pretty sad scene on this site. I own a pair of Baby Spatial Grand 3d's.WoW! They are self powered to 500 watts and sound awsome. I had the subs playing at 1/3 power and they could be heard 20 houses away. As for the High's they were pretty impressive. All you guys blowing these speakers must have very poor amplifiers. I am running a HarmonKardon avr125(High current, for those of you that know what that is!)and they sound excellent! For what I paid, there isn't a speaker out there that can touch these. Canadian at their best
Weakness:
NONE I have been reading some of the reviews on this site and I am left concerned about some people, have you listened with both ears or only one. I am a Nuance lover (for some of you) and I’ve been more than satisfied with my purchase. Never before I have experienced the sound of my music, I played all of my CD’s over again when I bought these speakers. These speakers are giving me with only 2 speakers what most Home Theater system do with five speakers. Whatever it’s called…SPATIALSOUND is awesome. Thanks NUANCE. It’s more like being at the concert and having a real band in front of me LIVE every time I play my music, either some old Rock or some new stuff. As far as my Home Theater sound I own 5 NUANCE speakers and I can say that the sound reproduction is better than any Movie Theater I’ve ever been, even better than the sound at Imax Theater. I know that some of you will judge that but who cares I own that system and I’m a happy Nuance customer, thanks to the boys at WS&V. When I bought my system I brought my favourite CD’s and the guys let me play anything I wanted, their sound room was not bad, but my living room makes it that I get much better sound then in the store. For all of you thinking about buying something in a near future I recommend NUANCE all the way. Similar Products Used: Mirage, Energy, Def Tech, JM Lab |

Weakness:
book shelf speaker line up On a pre-note, music is one of the oldest forms of entertainment. I play guitar and sing(in the shower when nobody is home) as a hobby, so I appretiate the quality of sound and it's reproduction. Spatial sound is constantly being developed, more prodominantly in the computer market, and has a huge following. There are however very few speaker manufacturer's bearing its up and downs. My speakers have done a great job in eliminating the "living room" atmosphere and giving me an open soundstage that suprises me sometimes! Being that I used to work for the company my buying was easy for price and what I wanted. That is not even an issue or should not be an issue in reviewing a product. If you want to party all night and have the garage just rocking, maybe your in the wrong market. klipsch works pretty good as a stand alone kick ass set. IF you want to get freaked out in a movie with your theatre set up, two speakers do a not bad job. 5.1 of course is better...maybe 5 nuance speakers? what do ya think!!?? MY 3-way towers do pretty good justice with my pioneer amp(I wish I wouldn't have sold my HK)and I do know quite a few CD's that have spatail recordings in them not just Q sound's logo. I know for sure that George Baker, who had me living in his basement for a while, does not appreciate the inflation of pricing by some retailers, however that is a bit out of his control. If you sincerely appreciate the spatial sound market email me: mythorn___@yahoo.com or if in the TORONTO area see Jim Hepner at World sound and Vision Either one would be glad to give you some titles of spatial sound cd's that bring out the best in any speaker, keep in mind though Nuance does do the best job in defining sound location. Strength:
they're big and black, and may be confused for narrow doorways in a dark room.
Weakness:
the drivers are cheap paper cone, cloth tweeter, small magnat, pressformed basket, made in china two dollar drivers. these speakers are a joke to all audiphiles. Why you ask. Well first they are well known as the ripoff of all ripoff's in the speaker community. They also stand as firm evidence that the average consumer doesent know anything about speakers. They show how foolish customers judge speaker quality by two strindgent points , size and weight. They also mock the morals of proper business conduct as their prices are never posted and never stable. May i suggest this....try going to a new car lot and ask the salesman for the price of a new car, then a day later do the same thing. Is the price the same? or does he fluctuate it by as much as 100%, when was the last time you were able to get the car salesman to drop the price of a car by 6o% and get a dvd player thrown in for free? NEVER! And no other product on the market today is sold like this. It's funny, every time i go to the mall i see a new sucker wheeling his 2000lb nuance speakers to his car, and every time i pick up a paper there's a sucker trying to sell his nuance speakers for one third of what he paid...unsuccessfully i might add. The bottom line is these speakers on they're own in a competative market (a store that sell more than just nuance speakers) would almost never sell. The sound mediocer, the price is constantly fluctuating from screwed, to compleatly f@#%ed, and the main selling point "spatial sound" is non existant. I'll let you all in on a little known secret amongst audiophiles (sarcasm) "soundstage" or the act of depth to music was invented a looooong time agoe, and it was called 'stereo' thats why there are two speakers, 1 speaker = mono 2 speakers= stereo just do yourselfe a faver and next time before you drop 5large at international stereo, go somewhere else and see what you can get for five large, and quit being the but of all jokes. Nuance sub.....................$2000 H/K AVR 2000...................$1200 nuance 6 foot front speakers...$4000 free dvd thrown in with speakers.$0 Watching your friend laugh at you, as his 1200 dollar speakers make a joke out of your non existant "spatialsound" ?..........$priceless$ Similar Products Used: technics, jbl, clearwinvega |
