Bad reviews on this site

I don't know what everyone is complaining about. I AM AN AUDIOPHILE!!
I can detect subtle changes in sound when listening to speakers, and these seem to have no problems with them.

THey are great speakers. The designer of these speakers is a remarkable man, and I commend him for bringing us speakers that give such good sound quality. And yes, I am a salesman, but at Future Shop. I don't like the speakers that we sell here, so I went to Soundsaround and bought Nuance because they are so good.

AGAIN, I AM AN AUDIOPHILE!!! A TRUE AUDIOPHILE WILL NOT BASH SPEAKERS, BUT LOOK FOR THE GOOD QUALITIES IN THEM!! I have taken classes that explain the difference between speakers, and the workmanship in Nuance is great!!

Nuance speakers rival the quality of Bang and Olafson, and even Paradigm.

The people who come on this site to bash Nuance should grow up and get a life. If you were actually a true AUDIOPHILE like me, you would understand that these are great speakers. You are not audiophiles. I am an AUDIOPHILE. I have grown up listening to music, and I know what good speakers are.

If a speaker can make the Eagles sound like they are right in your living room, they are good speakers. And I still don't know how they got that indian to dance around me, but it was pretty cool.

I don't care about all the people who say they are AUDIOPHILES. They are NOT!

I just wish Nuance would make car speakers so I could put their speakers in my car. That would be cool! Then NOBODY could say they are a bigger AUDIOPHILE than me.

Weakness:

Reps are pushy to new consumers (I saw it happen).

Ok, I have to say something about these speakers. I am running them off of an H/K AVR 300 and they rock. I play all my music on these things and I get excellent sound. I use them to play DVD and they sound great! So why is everyone chewing out Nuance? I have a few ideas...

1) Some are comparing the speakers to some that cost $6000 to $8000, which is plain stupid. They are great for what the price is.

2) Some have them hooked up to crap amps. Technics (sp?), Kenwood, etc. All crap. All bottom of the line. I mean do you try to drive a Porche with the parking brake on? I didn't think so.

3) Pushy reps. I'll be the first to admit their reps can be a hassle. I hate it when someone doesn't get the hint. I bought mine from Soundsaround in Calgary and the salesman was cool, but the rep could be kind of a pain. I got a good deal though so who cares :)

4) They don't have a website. Only a total nerd would knock a company because of this. There is more to the world than what you can pull through a cable or phone line.

I bought these speakers for $600 CDN, not the $1350 they wanted. I got a deal, so it was worth it. But even still for the price? This kind of sound? How can you knock that?

Here's my advice: Bring in your own CD's, listen to them, if you are satisfied by what you get for the price then get the speakers. I think you will be.

Strength:

The High Pressure of the Sales Reps

Weakness:

Every other aspect of the product

I sure appreciated reading the other reviews for these speakers. I went into a Soundsaround store and I'm amazed to later read that they give all of their customers the same bad experience. I was very frustrated with the high pressure Nuance Rep. who "is only here today and wants to give you the best deals ever", and yet he doesn't respect you enough to give you a day to think about this purchase, or even the time for your ears to stop from ringing after he blasted you with Hotel California. I was so annoyed by the way they did their sales hustle that not only will I not buy the Nuance speakers(which I didn't like anyways), but I will never buy anything from that store again. I would rather pay more to a business that respects and puts the needs of the customer over there own sales needs.

Some simple advice;
Never buy speakers the first time you listen to them.
Check around and take the time to listen to different speakers at different shops. Find the speakers you like and then later shop for the best price. Never buy speakers on price only. If the salesmen are putting pressure on you it's because they don't have any confidence in their product and are worried that you may come to your senses if you leave the store. Make sure the store has a good refund policy. The speakers may sound a lot different in your home, and you may realise there not the ones for you. Use your own CD music when listening to the different speakers and use the same tracks, you will then start noticing differences. Use a variety of different types of music and vocals to experience the speakers' range and quality. Take a good visual look at the workmanship and quality of the drivers and cabinet. Do your homework, make notes and don't be impatient to buy, remember you will have these speakers along time and you need to enjoy their performance every time you listen. A few extra dollars isn't much over many years of great listening so get the speakers you like to listen to.

I would rather get a lousy deal on a great product then a great deal on a lousy product. For me the money lost is forgotten fast if the speakers will always provide you with a great musical experience.

I purchased Paradigm Reference Studio's. I've listened to a lot of speakers but for my music these speakers give me a great experience. (There is a lot of other great speakers as well)

The Receiver I purchased is the Harman Kardon AVR500. I did lots of research and talked to a lot of people, looked, listened and took my time. After deciding on this unit I then proceeded to negotiate the best deal I could, I got it for $1,100(Canadian). It was less then their sale price and maybe I could have got it for even less, however, to me the important thing was I like the product and that's what I will always remember.

Good luck to each of you!

I don't understand what the problem is with everyone who come's on here and write's all these bad reviews. I've been a happy owner of B&W's and PSB's and they might not compare to the sound quality and of the B&W's but they blow the PSB's away. I bought the speakers without hearing the test I just walked in and looked and bought. It wasn't untill 1 1/2 later that I went back into the same store to get another pair when I was asked if I had heard there demo before I said " No, But I own a pair." The friendly sales person took me into there room, sat me down and told me what I was going to hear. I was amazed, not knowing what my speakers could do and were designed to do. After leaving with a center and a set of rear's I stopped of at a Sam's and purchased the same Madonna CD that was played hurrying home , I put the CD on for my wife. She was even more amazed then I was. I tell all my friends what they were andhow they sound I know 15 people all with the same set up, if not better then what I have and they are all has happy if not happier then I am, still to this day!!!

Oh by the way, I should mention that I do not own Spatial 3's. I paid $2500 for a pair of Spatial Baby Grand 3DLX.

Which is an AWESOME speaker and I got it for a killer price. Doesn't matter what anyone else thinks to me, I know what I hear and how they sound. I have listened to MANY other speakers and for the money I could not beat my Nuance.

Sorry if that upsets anyone and I'm sorry you didn't get your commission from me not buying your PSB's.

I listened to a pair of PSB Alpha Gold's at Whitby Audio running off of a Marantz SR-19 and they didn't do anything for me. My Nuance on a HK AVR510 had a way better sound so that's what I stuck with.

Talk to ya later.

Weakness:

other than this site, nothing

First, let me tell you what I have for my Home Theater:
Ampl. : None right now (had a Yamaha RX-V995 -- waiting for RX-V3000)
DVD : Sony DVP-S7700
Mains : Nuance Spatial Baby Grand 3ELX
Center: Nuance Spatial Grand Cen
Rears : Nuance Spatial Grand 3CLS
Subs : Built in to 3ELX's (4 10" 1000W total), Spatial Grand Sub (2 10's w/N-200 amp running 400W) 2X Baby Subs R1(stacked below my rears - modular system - 2 more 10's and another 200W) for those keeping track that's 8 10's and 1600 Watts. And yes I belive that's accurate in power.
Interconnects:
Center: Nuance Spatial Grand Live Wire
Mains : Crappy 14 awg junk, getting same as center
Rears : Naunce Star Grand Live Wire
DVD : UltraLink Digital Pro Coax
Video : More UltraLink

Now, before you go thikning I'm all about bass, let me state the setup. I am running the subs in the main's from the front preout on the amp, the rears off of high level input from the rears (i didn't run sub cable before finishing my basement opps) and the sub off of the subwoofer preout. This gives a very controlled and accurate bass reproduction. Almost everyspeaker has it's own sub (yes that would make it at a sort of 5.5 right now)

This set up is amazing, I wouldn't trade these speakers for anything! I love them. Anyone who belives the crap on here and allows it to affect their purchase, I pity you. You will be missing out. I looked for speakers for (and I am serious) for about 18 months. I made do with my Kenwood VR-105 Receiver and my Audio Teck's (White Van Speakers... but I got them at Cash Converters when I worked there!) untill I finally found these.

Now when I found Nuance, I didn't buy them right away. It took me about a year untill I bought them. I listened to every other speaker I could. I went everywhere. I even convinced a few stores to let me try a few pairs out at home for a few days at a time. (Yes the Nuance's as well)

That's what sold me. With out a problem the Nuance guy @ HiFi Centre said "As long as the owners don't have a prblem you can" so a visa deposit later I had a set of Spatial 3C's and my house for 2 nights. I only needed 10 minutes. If you hear a Nuance sales person tell you that the speakers will sound better in your house, belive me, they do.

I will admit that the sales guys can be a little pushy sometimes, but that's their job. Give them a break and don't sacrifice your listening enjoyment for that reason. If you do, I feel sorry for you.

Also you should read my review of the Star 1's I say more in there about this.

Basically I am saying, trust your ears, they don't lie to you, if you listen with your ears and forget what you've read negative on here then you will be more than happy with your speakers and who knows, maybe you will be one of the people who stands up for your speakers and writes about how much you love them on this page.

I'll let you know how they work with the new amp, I may not get the RX-V3000, I may go with a seperate amp and preamp combo, anyone with some good advice or recommendations please feel free to email me and let me know.

All in all I love Nuance Speakers, they are built better than anything I have seen, they sound WAY better and the more you listen to them - the more you will love them. Don't take my word for it though, go and listen for yourself. If you don't like them, don't buy them, but don't not buy them because of what a few negative people say on here. You never know, those people could work at Future Shop or Whitby Audio or something.

Thanks for reading. Remeber -- the only bad question is one that isn't asked.

I don't understand this sites reviews, hey guys thier just speakers. If ya like em buy em, if you dont like the sales pitch, or the fact they have no specs. DONT BUY THEM. Why spend a half our writing up a bad review so you can feel better about your own speakers. I personally love my nuance, and i can sit and enjoy them without having to know all the details. I know the man who designed them and i know the past speakers he has designed so i can feel comfortable with that. He was the overseeing engineer on the mirage m1 project and he did design the first energys. If you want to know why they dont provide you with specs its because they have said that they could put specs for a hundred dollar speaker in front of you and specs for a thousand dollar speaker and you wouldnt know the difference. All a speaker company has to do is tweak a spec a little and youll think your getting a better speaker. Nuance doesnt worry about specs they just concentrate on making thier speakers sound better. As for there salesman, well they are a little hard to swallow but i think there better than the snotty guys in the corner shops. Plus if you know what you want, and know what sound your looking for, you should be able to see through all of that trivial crap anyhow. As for advirtising, all the speaker mags out there are more than happy to praise your speakers its just show them the money. Why not choose a speaker for what you like about them, not for what some guy got paid to say. Relax, enjoy, buy the speakers you want and take a pill. Why make it personal, to each his own man.

great sound all the way through

none to speak of(except salesmen)

You either hate them or love them from what i have read here! Everybody's ear is as different as the amount of speakers out their and the price to be paid for them. I have Spatial 3's and love them.I also have a Nuance N-100 powered sub. I paid $600 Can. for the speakers and $340 for the sub(actually I bought 2 subs one for upstairs and one for down.) I have crisp clear sounds and great bass. All of this is of course what the listener prefers. I would invite anyone in the area to come over and listen to mine. The only thing is I have an old(10yrs) Sony STR-AV1070 receiver and am looking to upgrade. I can't imagine it sounding better than is does though. I may buy the Sony ES-777 model but I am reading great things about other receivers also. My brother has Paradigm 11SE-Mark 3's powered through a Nakamichi TA-4A receiver, and I cannot tell the difference between these systems. I too have been through the salesmen's pitch and demo's at Sounds Around. Advice: Don't buy till your ready and trust your own ears. Bring some quaility cd's. Try Gino Vanelli's first album Powerful People or Craig Chaquico-Acoustic Highway..Amanda Marshall's first cd. music by Pressure Cooker. In the early 70's this was the "record" that all sound systems were judged by! You can find this stuff on Napster,or email me. Anyways bring something that appeals to you and trust yourself..I would have paid $1500 for them and been delighted!

I read a lot of review on this site and what impress me is the price people pay for those speakers. Look, I paid $2800 TX included for 4 3CLS + the center channel. Add $650 + TX for the sub.

So when I read that people pay $5000 CN, I'm asking myself where is the bill or how much speakers did you buy?

O.K. I agree that Nuance is very deficient in providing shoppers with technical information (you have to phone).

It took me some time and experimentation to get great sound from those speakers. System setup, speaker placement, etc.
The first time it wasn't so clean.

On the performance side, I can push my yamaha RX-V795A about half the dial and they take the heat with no problem. Those speakers also give great sound at low volume so you don't anoy the neibourgh to enjoy your movies or music.

So, I don't pretend the 3 CLS are the best speakers in the world but compared to speakers in the same price range, I'll live with them for a few years.

For those who consider to buy those speakers, I suggest you try to bargain because every store try to boost a little to much the suggested retail price.

bi-ased reviews from this site

alot of these reviews could have come from other sales reps
from different electronics stores.
so if your in this site right now you are reading a load of
bullsh_t. if you like these speakers buy them, if you don't like them you need to clean the wax out of your ears and listen. yes nuance does use a q sound demo, madonna.

Maddona is the only q-sound demo used the Eagles aren't done in q sound and they sound great too.

i was at canadian sound last week and i listened to the rep trash nuance and say that they don't sound as good as good as the B & W's. hello these b&W's cost $15,000 and are hooked up to a $12,000 mc intosh reciever with a couple of $10,000 dollar power amps hooked up to it, ofcoarse they will drown nuance speakers.

nuance has a great upgrade policy so even someone like me who's 16 years old with hardly any money can eventually have a pair of 4,000 dollar speakers.

if your nuance speakers aren't sounding good then you probably have a set up problem take some time in setting up your speakers, you will probably spend about 20 minutes setting up before you get your desired sound.

hint: have bass reflex ports close to back wall for strongest bass.

p.s. please e-mail me your opinion on these speakers
