I replaced my Mini-Monitors with these and they have excellent midrange and strong base. I tend to find that with a lot of tweeters the sound is tiny but not with these. I've been slowly upgrading all of my speakers in my system and I've found Paradigm to give you the best bang for your buck.

I have these matched with a CC-370 center channel a pair of ADP-370 surrounds, and a Velodyne VA1012X subwoofer. I watch a lot of DVD and VHS movies and the sound is strong and cyrstal clear. I recommend anyone looking for new speakers to audition Paradigm

Good imaging, nice and crisp, good bass response

None for the price

Geeez, complain complain! So many people are complaining on how bright these speakers are? whats wrong with you? First of all, what do you have powering them, some peice of junk? And second, remeber how much you paid for them! These aren't speakers that cost you thousands of dollars, i picked them up for my brother for $700 bucks canadian! I think they sound great. He has them powered by a Onkyo Integra Dtr 7.1 , and these babies just sing to you! Home theater sounds awesome, music sounds awesome. Now of course if you compare these things to a higher end B&W, Energy, or something along the lines, yeah, there gonna sound like crap next to them. However, these things are dirt cheap for what your getting, i don't think there's a better speaker out there for the price. You bought them for a reason you cheap skates, cause your broke, and you can't afford the good stuff ....so stop complaining, go get a better job!

This speaker has clarity, depth. A clean and uncolored sound. It takes about a month to burn in. When you first get a Monitor series speaker home, I suggest giving it at least that long. It will make the midranges sound more detailed and make the tweeter sound just right, detailed, crisp, and remove the harshness. After one month, you will have the perfect front-end setup to a Home Theater.

I've heard many complain that this speaker does not reach deep enough down for Bass. Well, there's a very simple reason! If you build a Sub into this speaker it will never sound as detailed and accurate. These speakers are designed to be used in a COMPLETE 5.1 setup, not just on their own. Paradigm markets this speaker in a package. The recommended setup is as follows:

Monitor 7s on front
CC350 for center
Dipole 350s for rear (I use minis)
PW2200 for sub

The more speakers doing a specific job, the better the separation and detail! This also means using a sufficient sub that will give you the perfect full-bandwith sound you require. It is understandable that some of us out there are still stuck in the 2 channel audio universe, but I can't find a reason to complain about them even on their own. When I used to have the Mini Monitors on the front, they kicked out more BASS than I ever dreamed necessary. Then I moved up to the 7's and it's even more incredable. Adding the sub was my final move... but it essence, it just rounds off the bottom a tad more and can give you that air-pressure sensation in your ears and gut. I could have stuck with the Minis on the front and still got the sub, but the 7's reach down just far enough that they really do a great job of blending better with the sub.

For my money, it's an investment I won't regret. And considering I have been burned more than once on other A/V equipment, that means alot comming from me.

BTW... My 7's are v2, so is my 2200 sub. The minis on the back are v.1 and the center is v.1 (version two of the center has been renamed 370).

Nothing.... well ok shril highes = lack of break in.

I bought Mini monitors. At the time of purchase sales person- "L.A. sound" of ..obviously, Los Angeles was very patient and let me audition all the paradigms, B&W, missions, NHT's ... EVerything on the floor.

I liked the Monitor 7 but i took mini mons because . you know... $$$$. Mini monitors sounded awesome in my house with wide dynamic soundstage but a little harsh on the highs(subjective view). For two days after that i couldn't get monitor 7's out of my mind.

To make a long story short, i drove there in 2 days after the purchase and bought the 7's. Now, i'm happy.

Monitor 7's make everyone happy. I dunno why, i can't wipe this STUPID GRIN of my face! Someone help me!

I don't know why but these speakers make people grin... I don't have the slightest clue. People are grinning like idiots when they hear my monitor 7's. I asked'em why and they don't know either. Everyone just grins like some fool when they listen to these including myself.

Oh yeah and that goes for Mini Monitors too.

Strength:

Good mid & highs Great for home theater

Weakness:

lack of bass makes for poor music

I'll have to say out of the box these speakers perform quite well, not a lot of break in time is needed. I personaly use my system more for movies, in which I think these are the best speakers for the price about $650 cnd. The mids & highs combined with a avg subwoofer make for hours of movie fun, BUT I've found that the same is not true in music. They simple can not handle large amounts of bass & if asked to you'll find yourself scared that your going to be picking up bits of speaker from around the room. Now this is not a problem with music that dosen't have alot of bass but for my needs they aren't enought so I'm up grading to the Moitor 90p. I still think the 7's are a great speaker at a great price but just do meet my needs.

Big sound, great price

ABSOLUTELY THE BEST VALUE!!!

I listened to sooo many speakers and obsessed for a month until I came across the M7s. I think you have to spend twice the money until you can beat these speakers. I've gone through all my CDs to hear what they sound like on real speakers. Sometimes I'm late for work because I can't stop listening to these babies.

I felt the bass lacked a bit. Don't get me wrong, they deliver really good, tight, punchy bass. But they don't slam the way a subwoofer does (especially if you like action movies on your DVD). So I picked up the Paradigm PDR-12 and they get along marvelously.

Strength:

Highs: The tweeter is clear but not bright.
Mids/Lows: Tight, punchy, accurate bass.
Looks: Subjective, of course, but I love those transparent woofers.

Weakness:

Extreme lows: While it does an exemplary job with everything down to about 35 Hz, bass below that is a bit lacking.

This speaker is a truly amazing value, by far the best speaker in its price range that I've heard. Overall it is very neutral across the entire listening range, with only a couple decibels of deviance over its entire reproduction range. As I listed in the strength section, the Titanium tweeter manages superb imaging and clarity without being bright until extremely loud listening levels are reached. As far as the midrange and bass are concerned, the two co-polymer 6-1/2" drivers to an excellent job of producing tight, accurate bass as as loud as you'd ever want them to, while always remaining under control and never "boomy". Yet another plus to these Canadian wonders is the fact that they are relatively placement insensitive. In fact, about the only complaint I have about the Monitors is their handling of extremely low frequencies. Although they produce all frequencies down to their rated LFE admirably, any sound below that 34 Hz mark is virtually non-existent. Granted it's a small quibble, with the bass extension perfect for nearly all types of music, but for home theater you'll definitely want a separate sub. (But what self-respecting home theater fan doesn't have a great sub anyway?)

Finally, a word on why I chose these speakers over the other products used above. I found the AR3 and AR5 to be a bit muddy in the bottom and flat in the highs. Not bad, mind you, but when you consider the price, not what you'd expect. The Klipsch sounded almost as good as the Paradigm, at a competitive price, but I just couldn't get used to the forward sound of the horn tweeter. Some people who listen to a lot of classic rock and the like may actually prefer the sound of the Klipsh, so I would encourage you to audition those as well. I found the Infinity Overture 2 to offer comparable performance to the Monitor 7's, but at twice the cost. As far as the other Paradigm models are concerned the two with the powered subs sounded like the 7's with deeper (and muddier) bass. And I preferred the tighter sound of the 7's to the 9's, regardless of price.

My System:

Onkyo TX-DS777 for surround receiver
Parasound HCA-1500A stereo amp
Nakamichi MB10 CD Changer
Paradigm ADP 350 surrounds
Paradigm CC 350 center channel

To sum up, five stars for value: definitely the best speaker at anywhere near its price.

Four for overall sound: there's always something better out there.
