I listen to classical, especially piano, violin and chamber music. I wanted to get a reasonably priced speakers with very clear mid range and enough base to enjoy some blues and rock at reasonable levels. I listened to everything at Circuit City, including Infinities for $1500/pair. Nothing compared to these $600/pair Paradigm Monitor 7's which were only available from one dealer in town, ProAudio. They have execellent sound stage, placement, definition and clarity. A friend has Infinity Beta's, which he got used for ~$6,000 and he has set up in a room about 30' x 40' with 16' cathedral ceiling. My Monitor 7s could never handle a room like that or play at the levels the Beta's can, but at moderate listening levels in my small apartment the mids and highs are not that far from the Betas. Just a little boominess- I'm experimenting with placement to get rid of that. For this price and listening style you won't find anything better. Thanks to ProAudio for working hard satisfy my interests rather than their need for commissions!

Strength:

Very solid sound with a great look.

Weakness:

Bit heavier than I thought. (Oh well!)

While I just bought these, I have listened to a TON of Audio CDs on these, all various styles and I am IMPRESSED. I also watched a DVD fairly loud for a good home test which was RUN LOLA RUN. This movie basically revolves around a fast Technoey soundtrack, with lots of other weird noises and such coming from everywhere... I was amazed at the sound these were throwing out, everything was crystal clear and the bass was perfect. (Don't have a Sub yet) I've basically have these set up as just stereo, so I have no rears, center, sub yet, so im getting everything through these two and they definately sound great. I feel my money was well spent. I'll be getting some ADP-350's for the rears, and I already have the CC-170 for the center (cant use it yet), and i'll probably get a Velodyne 12 sub to finish off the set. I had my eyes on these for just under a year, and sound tested nearly every speaker in the 500-1000/pr. range (Polks, Infinities, Boston Acoustics, etc)and these just grabbed me more than everything else. Thumbs up.

There is a post by someone who was commenting that his pair were poorly constructed with edges not matching and black marker covering up flaws. I took a good hard look at my pair and both of them are spot on perfect. No flaws whatsoever. It sounds like maybe he got a demo copy from the floor that was maybe repackaged, i seriously doubt any speaker company would use black marker tactics, especially with the type of people who they want to buy their products(Enthusiasts and up..Rather than casual.).

4 Stars because just when you think you got the best, you always find something better down the road. :-)

A trully outstanding speaker. When i auditioned these speakers I knew of all of the possible variables that could
effect the sound of the speaker. It seems almost impossible
to be able to tell what speaker would sound best on your particular setup. Mine would be a HK (thats not Heckler and
Koch)AVR65 with a Sony DVD player as an all around medium
device with a Datalink 100 coax as an interconnect and XPHP
Monster speaker wire. Monitor 7s as mains, a BU-120 sub,
AM-5s as surrounds(no full ht yet but as soon as i get the
money its definately the cc-350). Definately nothing too
elaborate. However pretty effective. My main purpose for
my system is definately for music which the monitor 7s excel
at far above the compitition. The Polks were close but the
sound was just not as refined as the monitors. The apeakers
are just perfectaly balanced in everyway.Simply outstanding.
For audio enthusists or audiophiles on a budget or not,
this is a great speaker.Aspecially for the price.I got mine
for 575.00$ Great sound, great looking, and great value as
well. For music this speaker is top notch. I can recommend
this product without reservation.

I've had them for a couple of weeks, and I'm very satisfied. I upgraded from the 7se MkII, and the difference is obvious. The Monitor 7s are clearer, more controlled, cleaner sounding, and deeper bass. I run them with a CC 350 center, PS 1200 subwoofer, and Atoms in the rear. I love this setup!

I got the monitor 7's about 3 months ago. They sound pretty darn good for the cost, and are plenty loud. I have them coupled with ADP-350 rears, and the CC-350 center. DVD movies are unbelievable with these speakers. Highly recommend these speakers, you wont be mad with these speakers.

A very natural sounding speaker with very good bass response. You don't need a sub with these speakers if you mainly listen to music. After listening to B&W, M&K, and NHT, the Paradigms won hands down, both for the neutral sound and for the price. I have these mated to a CC-350 Center (which uses the same tweeter and drivers) and they blend very well. A very good sounding speaker, at a very good price.

I after reading many reviews on the monitor 7 I decieded to give them a try. One word.... excellent. The clairty is great the speakers do not color the sound in any way. You can't do any better for this price (~$600 a pair). If your in the market for some great speakers at a resonable price you must give the monitor 7 a listen. A solid 5 rating.

I bought these speakers in December for $529 and I am extremely happy with them. The highs are smooth, the mid-range is natural (not overdone), and they image well. The bass seemed a little laking when I first got them home but after experimenting with placement, the bass got much better. I listened to several speakers before buying these and I think I got the best deal for the money. As for build, mine are in great shape and the craftmanship is excellent. I would recommend these speakers to anyone.

This review is an update to my previous submission. I have since upgraded the cabling of my system from AQ topaz interconnects and Goertz HT speaker wire to Tara Labs Prism 55 and Prime 1000.

The changes really brought out the best in the Monitor 7 that I own. I listen to a variety of music, from John Pizarelli to Snoop Dogg. The vocals are very forward and distinct from the rest of the music. Every single syllable can be heard clearly as well as the pause between words. This is simply incredible. The acoustic guitar is another wonder. On some of Pizarelli's "Dear Mr. Cole", I can hear the stings of the guitar being plucked, not just the note itself. The cymbals and rest of the high end can only be described as sweet. They are quite clear. No headaches here.
Bass is something of a mystery though. Some CDs bring forth some really tight and controlled bass, while others are disappointing. Some bass is at a perfect level, some are disapointing. For the most part I am happy with the bass performance of the 7s, as the delightful bass comes more often.

Placement. These speakers weren't too difficult to find a good placement for. They sounded good where I had originally put them, but decided to play around just for the fun of it. A couple inches here and there and they were just magical.

As far as build, these speakers are built well. They don't compare to the Reference series, but they are heavy and solid, and I like the black finish.

I have these speakers mated with a Mirage SS-1500. A true performer. It blends really well with the speakers.

Tara Labs Prism 55
NAD C350
Tara Labs Prime 1000

Overall I still give these a 5 rating. For the price I paid($760CDN) I don't think I will own a better pair. I am completely satisfied with the Monitor 7. They are far better than I imagined them to be
