Strength:

bass

Weakness:

build quality

The paradigm titan is a great sounding speaker, but it's build quality is poor. Since owning the vinyl has cracked and parts have come loose. Calling customer service is a joke. When i contacted paradigm about the problems they told me to talk to the dealer; guess what the dealer told me? Neither one wanted to take responsibility for the repairs. I would not take a chance on paradigm again.

Strength:

Very Good Value, Rich Bass, Perfect Rear speakers

Weakness:

Unable to remove grills

The Titan's represent excellent value for the money. They respond without difficulty to all types of music, and give outstanding bass response to DVD movies or music video's.

After owning them for two years, they continue to respond when I push the limits of my Yamaha RXV-595A receiver. I'm sure you will not be disappointed. They sound much better than the Atom's or Micro's, but if you have the extra money to spend the Paradigm Mini Monitor's will add that little bit extra.

You won't be disappointed, Paradigm has a winner with this speaker and price range !

Cannot remove front cover

I bought the pair of Titans AND a Paradigm 8in active sub to go with it. I have wonderful flexibility in music. My system is at home with Classical, Rock, Rap, or movies. The highs and mid range is awesome, and with that sub, there is not a note that I cannot hit. I got these speakers to replace a set of Bose satalite speakers with passive sub. The intire packedge cost me about $450 (with a slight discount), and I cannot find anything out there that I would replace my system with (with the exception of perhaps a $12,000 pair of Magnaplanar
3-panel speakers with a hybrid tube/digital pre-amp, but lets be serious!) I get awesome fullness of sound at such a low price!

The Titans are a good speaker for what you pay. The bass is good for the size of the speaker. They're nice to listen to.(music/home theatre) The titan's are a good speaker for all purposes. They have a good sound stage. We have them paired up with the paradigm cc 170 and paradigm atoms for the rears. Here is what my system consists of:

Tecnics sa-da8 reciever
Samsung DV-611 DVD
Paradigm Titans (front)
Paradigm Atoms (rears)
Paradigm cc 170
Reel RSW-10 powered sub
RCA 27" tv

At this price ... Come on !!!

First of all ... I was in denial ... I couldn't believe speakers at this price could sound this good ... they are indeed outstanding speakers, that are far better than anything you can find at the chain stores ... they are right up there with the best speakers in the sub $500 range ... only to be outdone by the Reference series Klipsch or others ... don't be a fool , try them ... as far as the cosmetics , get the light cherry finish ... the black is pretty lousy ... you'll be amazed !!!

Strength:

Accurate sound, compact size

Weakness:

In the context of this speakers size and price; none.

For a speaker of its size, these are tremendous performers. Friends can't believe the waves of sound that come out of this speaker. It completely shocks those that have the larger supposedly "higher end" speakers bought from big box stores. They usually have spent much more for a bulkier and apparently more complex speaker. They are usually surprised they can hear so much of a difference.

I've always found the sound complete and warm. I use these with a Paradigm sub and they are smooth over the whole spectrum. By the way, even without the sub these speakers will surprise you. Just a pleasant sounding speaker all the way around. Incidentally, they can also be driven to very high listenng levels (with a quality amp of course) and they continue to perform. Maintaining there accuracy the whole time.

For the price I'm not sure what else comes close. There probably are some other speakers out there in this size and price range that are comparable but I've not heard them.

For their size and price these speakers are wonderful. I would defnitely buty another pair.

very clear and tight sound

Weakness:

i got titan and atom.
very satisfied with them since they came home.
they got all.
clarity, tightness, punch bass, stage image with such small bodies.
of course, titan has a deeper sound and stage than atom.
but, they are the best in small bookself speakers i think.

Strength:

Good price for what I payed for them. They don't to cheap as long as nobody examines them closely. Sound good for their size!

Weakness:

Front grills don't come off and the box is like plywood. The port is like a paper roll and binding posts are cheap.

Let me start by saying these are by far a more better sounding speaker then the most expensive speakers you can by at curcuit city or best buy. They don't sound bright and more airy then echoy. Move them back about 12inches or more to get more openess and better bass responce. About 12ft apart is needed for a bigger sound stage. Sound staging is very weak on this speaker there is no sense of depth. Imaging is very unclear you can't pinpoint where the sound is coming from it just throws it out there. The bass is clean and not to boomy, but don't expect deep low killer bass just clean responsive bass. You will hear some new sounds in your music but not everything!! Vocals sound like they are stuck in the speaker and can't reach out and touch you.
Try opening the back of them and from the inside positive terminal run two wires one to the positive side on the mid range driver itself and the other to the blue wire going into the capacitor. This tweak helps give the speakers more power kinda like bi-wiring and opens up the sound more. You will notice a difference! Try it and see if you like it!
If you like your music to suck you in making you feel your in the action or a visual soundscape these are not for you! "Try the monitors or studios"! If your looking for a good sounding speaker not over emphasized that doesn't hurt or fatuge your ears these are great!!!!

Strength:

Bass above and beyond the call of duty. Clear, smooth sound. Amazing value.

Weakness:

Lack of luxury in construction

Oh, these are glorious. I got what I wanted -- beautiful sound at the lowest possible price. My target was $200 for main speakers, and I nearly hit it; my research homed in on Paradigm's cheapest model, the Atom, but the dealer was out of stock so I auditioned the $230 Titans instead. While testing them out with various demanding CDs I'd brought along, my first shock was discovering that the salesman hadn't connected a subwoofer -- so where was that spleen-rumbling bass coming from? It didn't seem as though the small boxes (13" x 8" x 10") could emit the kind of low frequencies necessary to do justice to Philip Glass's "Koyaanisqatsi" or Eat Static's "Abduction", yet they did. And not to neglect the higher frequencies: they were also -- forgive the audiophile jargon -- crisp and undistorted. My test equipment here consisted of track 5 of "Koyaanisqatsi", which features those trademark lightning-fast Glass arpeggios swirling around in both extremely high and extremely low registers simultaneously. It sounded magnificent.

I don't have the tools to get all quantitative on you, but the dinky Titans deliver bass frequences far below those that my bulky old Technics speakers with 12" woofers could handle. And they deliver them cleanly and accurately. It's just that the output falls off substantially at the very low end, so for true booty-shaking you do need a subwoofer. The good thing is that the sub's crossover can be turned way down since it only needs to help prop up the sub-basement. (This last point is theoretical since my Acoustic Research sub has yet to arrive -- damn you, UPS Ground!)

To find anything to complain about, one is reduced to nit-picking about the case. This is the only place the budget price makes itself shown, really, although that doesn't bother me. The wood veneer at least doesn't look fake and comes in four colors. I could care less about popping the front and ogling the speaker cones; they could be made of slabs of wet liver, for all I care, as long as they sound this sweet!

Strength:

overall balance, good highs, good bass, good soundstage

Weakness:

slightly thick midrange

If I did not hear it, I do not believe the sound quality coming from such a small box. Plays well at medium to loud levels. Has good imaging, solid soundstage, nice cohesive presentation. Vocals sound very good. Highs did not sound compressed. Has a nice warm sound. Lively highs with sparkling air. Makes a good stab at transparency. These speakers sound absolutely fantastic. Easy sound to live with. Yes, the upper highs can sound slightly rough at loud levels. Yes, the mid/lower mids may lack absolute clarity and transparency than with the best speakers. Does not sound boxy. But, all in all with a casual A/B switching between the Titan and a $850 Klipsch Reference RB5, the Titans kept up in sound quality giving way in dynamics at very loud levels. This is quite impressive. Can suit for home theater use because of its excellent dynamics, clarity, and slightly forward nature. Did I mention the price. Now look at the price. Wow! a no brainer. I repeatedly asked myself, it just cant be. My overly critical review is based upon critical listening regardless of price. Factor in the price...adios Klipsch...the Paradigm offers 90% of the sound at 75% less price.
