Strength:

Suprising bass, imaging, decent internal bracing (knuckle rap test), and...uhhh...it's only $200!

Weakness:

A little mid-bass hump. That's about it, considering the price.

I have had these in my humble bedroom system for about 3 years now. I'm using a Denon AVR 900. These are a great way to enjoy an "entry-level" hi-fi set up. They respond very well to improved amplification and sources. I hooked them up to my Rotel (200 WPC) and they can really get up and dance! They will let you know if the recording sucks, or if it is an engneering masterpiece. Basically, the 'lil Titans tell it like it is. However, these are no giant-killers. While it can do reasonably tight and tuneful bass, a subwoofer might be necessary for certain kinds of music (large scale orchestra, metal and rap). There is that mid-bass hump but it is not very offensive. Overall, a great little speaker for $200. Give 'em a listen...

Strength:

fatigue free listening, smooth-extended bass (for such a small woofer)fit and finish (mine are white)

Weakness:

can't remove grille, spring clips barely hold 12 ga wire

Just wanted to add my two cents in-these are an AMAZING value in a mid-fi speaker. I've enjoyed mine for years, and I'm taking the jump into surround by looking for v2's or mini monitors and moving these to the back. I've added a subwoofer in the past year (the DREADED powered JBL but so far so good on it NOT blowing up). I used to do home audio sales at a speciality (not BB/CC or crap like that)and can attest that to sell these you need to get the hell outta the way and just turn them on!

Strength:

Mortal men do not deserve speakers this good at this price!

Weakness:

Scientists haven't figured out how to clone them yet.

At this price I doubt you will find a better-sounding bookshelf speaker. They have a sound that is warm and embracing and no other speaker better exemplifies that Paradigm knows what they're doing than this compact punisher. Everything is so right about this speaker it's ridiculous to even go into detail other than to say GO BUY THEM! I loved these so much when I first got them I bought a second pair that I gutted and installed in the door's of my car so I could be with them constantly. Have heard a few compact monitors that give them a run but WAY more expensive!

Strength:

Price, overall sound output for movies and music

Weakness:

highs on certain movies

I'm still in awe of these great, value-priced speakers. I have just purchased some Monitor 7 v2s for the fronts, so these will move to the rear. In there service as mains though:

Very nice blend of lows, mids, and highs
Highs can be a bit harsh on certain movies (I seem to notice this on dts discs, but not all)
The Paradigm logos on both of my speakers are off-center. Knit-picking, I know. . .

Of course, for $200 I cannot complain about much at all and am anxiously awaiting to audition them in their new capacity.

Value...sound...

Weakness:

none for this price...

Six years ago I spent $800 on a set of the Bose Acoustimass V speakers. They were so much better than the $200/pair Pioneer speakers I had in college, and I thought they sounded fantastic! Not only did they look cool, everyone was telling me how great Bose speakers were.

Enter 2001. I have just bought a house, and wanted to get a Sony Wega TV, and upgrade my system from a Pioneer ProLogic system to a digital 5.1. Since I am an internet junkie, I tirelessly researched all the components. I started out needing new rear channel speakers, as my current set was garbage, and I knew that the 5 channel digital would need a bit more quality. So I went to a big electronics Superstore and tested out a bunch of speakers in the $200 price range (Infinity, etc) and they just sounded so tinny, too bright. If there was any bass, it just did not sound right. Not expecting the world, I went down to Audio Labs (a small dealer in Des Moines) and asked to hear a pair of the Paradigm Micro speakers. They were ten times better than anything I had heard at the Superstore. So I asked for a pair in black, but they were out of them. For another $25 I could upgrade to the Atom. I fired up the Atom next to the Micro, and WOW!
I could not believe the sound. I bought them and took them home.
I hooked them into my stereo on the B channel to hear them against my BoseAM5's. I could not believe how much better the tweeters were on the Atoms. And the bass was quite good, very tight. For only $180! I was a Paradigm believer.
Next up was the center channel. I called up my new best friend (the Audio Labs salesperson) and ordered up a cc-170 center channel speaker. Compared to my old Audio Source, this speaker is unbelievable. Voices have nice bass to them, all while being very accurate. Another fantastic purchase, I was hooked!
So I thought I would just go ahead and update the fronts. More research was done and I stopped in and picked up a pair of Titans, and matched them with the PDR10 subwoofer. With tax and mounting brackets, the Titan/Subwoofer combo cost me $600. So I went home to test them against the $800 Bose (which currently sell for $600.)

OMG!

The difference is unbelievable. I am just stunned. The sound is incredible. At first I have had to turn the bass down, as I am not used to truly deep, rich bass with my Bose speakers, but how was I to know?

I got a complete 5 channel speaker system which blows the doors off my old Bose speakers for $900. That is only $100 more than I paid for my Bose speakers originally. I found some sucker at my office to buy my Bose speakers for $300. Good Riddance.

I spent alot of time researching and came to the conclusion these speakers are the greatest for the value. No other speaker in this price range sounds as good. My setup is as follows: 2001 Titans Front, CC-170 Paradigm Center, 7 yr old Titans for Rear, Yamaha 596, and a powerful PDR-10. I give out diapers when people come over to watch movies as the sound may cause people with weak bladders to have an accident over the realistic sounds of action movies!!

Originally, I was not going to buy the new titans; however, the sound on the old version did not blend nicely with the center. In addition, the older Titans did not seem to be as vibrant and clear as the newer model.

I am really happy with Paradigm Titan's and recommend them to anyone who is on a tight budget and wants to get a quality speaker. There are many superior speakers out there, but, for those of us who are on a budget and want to spend less then $200 these are the greatest for the money.

I've only owned these Titans for just a couple a weeks but... WOW! Kudos to Paradigm for such awesome sounding speakers! Who would have thought that thesesmall sized boxes could produce such crystal clear hi's and midrange. I expected to be really turned-off by the bass response but I was soooo wrong! Incredible!
Got them used for $100 for the pair. These have to be the best sounding small speakers I've ever heard!

I am currently using 3 of these across the front of my front projection system. I have found them to be very accurate and have excellent imaging properties. I am using these with a Yamaha RX-V592, Yamaha DDP-1, and Yamaha YST-SW80 sub. In my small room they can amazingly keep up with Dolby Digital up to very loud levels and yet still maintain an accurate sound stage. Like many others, I have also found the mid-bass a little boosted but not enough to be annoying. For the price, you just can't find a better speaker.

I recently bought these speakers and i love them. They capture the highs nicely and the bass that comes out of them is mindblowing for such a small speaker. They sound even better with a nice sub to add more bass. They are very crisp and clear even at very high volumes. *****FIVE STARS *****
