I've been involved in esoteric audio for about 20 years and pro audio for about 15 years. I own a pair of these speakers and I enjoy them very much. Currently this is what I'm listening to because I do not have the room to set up my reference system. I'm using a NAD receiver and a Phillips CD player along with Audioquest speaker wires and Cardas interconnects. I did place three very small rubber feet on each of the speakers because I have to place the speakers on top of my dresser. I have two other "audiophile" systems as well.

I owned the BOSE-AM5 Accoustimass Speakers for six years and my ear isvery well accustomed to it's sound. Nevertheless, I was always not
sattisfied with it's mid-range frequencies. Yes, the AM5's have low
punchy bass and pretty clear highs, but it lacks detail in the mid-
frequencies. Last year I purchased a pair of Paradigm Titans and by that
time I finally realize what I have been missing. First of all, the bass
response is pretty good. The Bass port at the back of the speakers helps
the Titans to produce the low frequency bass that reinforces the mid-
frequency bass. Secondly, the mid-range frequency is very clear (with
respect to my BOSE). Now I can actually hear the mid freq's rather
than guessing. The high frequency is okay, although the bose is a little
bit clearer. Even without an additional subwover, now I enjoy more of my
music collection than when I was using the AM5. With the Titans I detect
more balance between the low, the mid, and the high frequencies with respect
to my AM5's. I would highly recommend the Paradigm Titans for those on
who really cares about the quality of music for the budget. If you only
want to listen to jazz, probably the BOSE-AM5 might be okay. But if you
want to enjoy all of your music collections, try out the Titans and
judge for yourself. This my honest oppinion about this speakers.

I've had these for about two years and have been very pleased. With my Nakamichi CD player and an old Harmon-Kardon receiver, they produce clear high and mid-range sound. The bass is also very good for their size, but is still lacking overall. For the price they are an excellent buy and five stars, but without price factored in, only earn four...

I bought the Titans after direct, in-house comparisons with similarly-priced Boston Acoustics, B&Ws, PSB Alphas and the infamous Optimus LX5s... The Titans beat out all others in the OVERALL catagory - the others may have excelled in one area, but were deficient in another... As has been said before, they MUST be given plenty of room from the rear wall in order not to sound artificially boomy. Best current value for the money, IMHO.

I absolutely love these Paradigm speakers! They sound very good in both music and home theater applications. Great speakers for about $200.

I love my pair. They do everything well. I am not turned off by the upper bass boost as others are, I like it. They sound dynamic and exciting for what I listen to. Different strokes for different folks. Like others have said though, keep them away from the corners. I am powering them with a NAD receiver and a NAD CD player. I couldn't find a better speaker in the price range and couldn't be happier with the money I spent. Highly recommended.

The most amazing thing about these speakers is the amount of High End sound that comes out of these little guys. A friend of mine saw and heard them for the first time and laughed at me. But when I hit the play button on my Carver Cd player he was floored, I guess that says it all.... I have a Carver Cd player, NAD intergrated amp Monster cable speaker wire, Esoteric Cables .. They sound great on speaker stands that place the tweeter at ear level. A truly great speaker for the size and money.

Tried the Titans and Energy Pro 1.5's and it wasn't much of a competition...the Energy's are a much better speaker all round, to my ears they sound much cleaner without the very noticable mid bass hump for which the titans are well known. If you are looking for a less expensive book shelf styled speaker do your self a favor and give the Energy's a listen.

I am in the process of rebuilding my seven year old hifi/HT system and have decided upon the purchase Paradigm Studio Reference 60 or 80's as mains, and LCR-450 center (Paradigm), a PW-2200 subwoofer (Paradigm also), and the Paradigm Titan as surrounds.
As it has turned out, I have obtained the Titans first. Therefore I decided that for the few weeks that I would have them on their own, I'd use them as temporary main fronts. So I purchased a pair of 21" speaker stands, and set them up to be used for the temporary set of mains. Well earlier this evening, I set the Titans up and started listening. I had already auditioned the Studio Reference series, but I had not critically listened to the Titans since they were going to mainly play a surround role, but whoa, was I suprised!! The Titans are simply fantastic speakers, they are so good in fact that my wife ask me "How much were those Paradigm References you want are? These Titans sound great!! Do you really need the others".... Well needless to say yes but if all I ever had was these Titans I would not be disappointed at all.

I do hear the mid-bass hump that others have mentioned, and at mid to hi volume the small rear firing port does output quite a chuff of air, but I did notice that if the speaker is simply moved out about 14" inches from the rear wall, most if not all of the midbass boominess disappeared. First I tried 12", but the two additional inches made a vast, vast improvement. It seems that simply correct placement will help as others have noticed.

The highs are silky, but not harsh. Cymbals, brushes, strings all sound very clear and prominent. Mids are great and imaging is great. The bass is pretty decent and is actually a little better at higher volumes when one get the 6.5" midbass driver really moving. Although the Titans will soon be moved up on the rear walls of my living room, I sure will enjoy them for now as my mains until my Studio References are brought in by stork. I highly recommend this speakers for those on a budget. They have my highest recommendation!!!

Well, it appears that you all have found the best sounding speaker for under$200. Nothing even comes close for the price. I've owned (okay, my
wife now owns)these speakers for 4 months now. They are hooked up to
a Harmon-Kardon AV25mkII receiver (which blows big time w/ hi-current
output.). These little speaker have fantastic lows and midrange! The
bass though, not as big but very impressive for its size.
I recently stopped into Radio Shack (stop laughing) and purchase the
LX-5's and 2 passive subwoofers (The rooms that these speakers including
the Titans are relatively small and isolated.) I hooked up the Pro PW-120
to the Titans and WOW! The RS subwoofer for $99 made these Titans hurt
me real good! Stop by and try the RS Subwoofer now on sale. They will
give you your money back if you don't like them. What a cost-saving system!

$350 - HK AV25mkII 85watt Dolby Pro-logic Reciever.
$100 - Paradigm Titans - Used
$99 - Radio Shack Pro PW-120 Passive subwoofer (Unbelievable for the price)
$150 - Radio Shack LX-5

Just for you information, I am still looking to purchase Martin-Logan SL3's
with an ATI -1505 or Sunfire 5ch amp along with the B&K DPL-DD-DTS 4090 PROC/PRE
and bringing up the rears may still be the Titans or some used Martin-Logan Arieus. The sub-woofer-toss up between the Paradigm or Velodyne. I didn't want
anyone to think I didn't know what I was talking about. The low-cost system I
previously mentioned is still for most of us who are on a verrry tight budget but want that Audiophile-Quality sound! Go and enjoy all it! Paradigm has definitely earned my respect and business! Way to go at it cheap!
