I just brought home a set of the RT-1000p, bi-wired them up to my Denon ARV-2700, and they sound great. After reading the reviews, I was concerned that my system wouldn’t have enough bass, but the bass is natural and full. In the price range, I found nothing that equaled the balanced sound of these Polks, and the size makes them extremely practical. I think I am going to buy another set for my surrounds, as I listen to a lot of music through 5 channel stereo, and I want the sounds to match. |

Of all the concern I have after spending thousands of dollars on a home theatre system, Polk Audio made me feel the most comfortable. After listening to these speakers at home I found they were almost as good as the sound room in Circuit City. If you're thinking about the 800 series, don't. Spend the extra $200. I was worried these wouldn't carry the midrange as well as the 800s, but it turns out they have a beautiful high midrange, something the 800s lack. These speakers are very clean and crisp -- a very responsive speaker. There is a recognizable clarity in the highs and in the mids of this speaker. If you compare this speaker with one like the RT2000 you'll find it doesn't fall behind, but merely that the RT2000 excels even above these. I don't think you can be disappointed with these speakers. |

I just purchased a pair of RT1000's, along with the RT55's for surround and the CS400 for my center. I am extremely pleased with the center and surrounds, but the RT1000 seemed to be "very bright" when listening to music. They also did not stand up to very much bass punch. They just lost all control of clarity and definition at moderate to slightly higher volume levels. I also noticed that the left speaker in the configuration had a very distinctive rattle coming from the sub chamber. Not good. I hooked the RT55 up as my front speaker to see if they sounded any better and they blew the RT1000 away! I could not believe what I was hearing. I am returning them and going with another pair of RT55's or RT800's for the front. Sorry if this disappoints any Polk RT1000 fans, but I can not give more than two stars out of five for this imposter. |

I gotta tell you...these speakers are the best your going to do for 1000 bucks or less.I listened to everything from jbl to b&w's to wilson audio to Dynaco. For the price range this is the one to get.Imaging is clear and open, music seems very alive.as far as bass response??? well you won't believe that the sub only has a 6 1/2 driver. For HT...very impressive,no need for an add on sub.It sounds killer when using a DVD PLAYER/AIR FORCE ONE.ETC. |

Strength:
Crisp clear highs, thunderous lows, stylish appearance
Weakness:
No remote control to adjust the subwoofer level I bought the speakers at Circuit City for $1000, plus for an extra $50 I got a CS200 centre speaker thrown in. Polk was having a special on the centre channels. I was looking around at speakers for about a month, going to various audio/video stores around Tucson. I tried out all the JBL, Bose, Yamaha, etc. speakers that the stores had on display in their soundrooms, but in each case they all sounded somewhat flat - the highs were muffled and the lows either weren't there, or were too much, or the prices were ridiculously high. I walked into the Circuit City store where they had several Polk Audio speakers on display and I tried out the RT1000's. They sounded incredible in the sound room. I compared them with Infinity OVTR2 and OVTR3 speakers in the same sound room, and they sounded better, but were much less expensive!!! Then I tried out the RT2000's, which were an additional $500 a pair. The 2000's sounded very good for bass, but there was no difference in the high end. I could not justify spending at extra $500 for what amounted to hardly any difference in sound quality. So I took the RT1000's home, set them up in my home... and am very impressed. Not only do they sound excellent, they look good too. My wife is into candles and as you can imagine the top of the speakers have become a storage area for glass candle holders and candles. Even with massive bass pumping through the speakers, nothing on top of the speakers move or vibrate. These speakers are solidly constructed - any vibration that occurs is in the speaker, not the cabinet. Similar Products Used: Infinity OVTR series, JBL, Polk RT2000p, Yamaha, BOSE |

These are wonderful speakers. Matched with the CS400 center and f/s500 rears HT just comes alive. When playing 2 channel music I have to turn off my external 12" sub. Polk has produced a fabulous speaker at a great price ($800 at netmarket.com) |

I love these speakers. I just upgraded from my Polk RM5000 to the RT1000p and CS 400. These speakers really surprised me. I had auditioned the Polk RT2000ps but was not that impressed (especially after I looked at the price). I also listened a pair of PSB Stratus Bronze, NHT 2.5, Acoustic Research 310, and a pair of Mirage speakers. I felt that all of these speakers sounded a little bright (although the NHTs sounded pretty good overall). I was especially disappointed with the PSBs because of all the hype I've heard about them. The RT1000ps has very clear and clean mids and highs as well as good bass. With the funky power port, I was expecting the bass to be sloppy but it wasn't. These speakers sound great with music but sound even better on movies. Lethal Weapon 4 sounded fantastic, very clear voices and plenty of bass to go with all the explosions. I still can't believe how good these speakers sound, especially for only $1000/pair. I would definitely recommend these to anyone looking for good music/movie speakers that do not cost a fortune. |

I just auditioned these the other day at GoodGuys. The first thing I noticed was how bright they are. Too bright even. I listened some other speakers and found that they're too bright, too. I wondered aloud to the sales person, "why aren't these companies using a D'Appolito alignment (tweeter is arranged between fuller-ranged drivers, vertically)." I believe that most speakers I heard that day would benefit from such an alignment, with tweeter technology being what it is today. |

Strength:
clarity,tight base,presence
Weakness:
black oak veneer, damn green L.E.D.'s I have heard and liked polks products for years but these are the first ones i have owned.these things are amazing, and the fact that i only paid $500 (tax included) makes me love them even more.the base is amazing, and so are the highs, the mid range is not over bearing like alot of other speakers, another point i love.turn off the lights pop in any action flick, and let the thunder begin.I was so impressed with these I decided to complete the system with the cs400i center channel which is amazing and the 500 rears all matched drivers.Iam now trying to track down the psw650 sub on close out.if you come across these for 500 or less buy them, you wont be sorry Similar Products Used: nht super 2s |

Strength:
Articulate sound and attractive appearance
Weakness:
None worth noting These speakers feature a built-in powered subwoofer which can be quite effective if used judiciously. They are very attractive to look at and occupy very little floorspace. For a floorstanding speaker they 'disappear' quite well which allows the listener to enjoy the sound source on both music and video soundtracks. They offer good imaging and depth and really 'strut' their stuff on Digital soundtracks. Similar Products Used: B & W CDM1's |
