I needed a set of speakers for use in my vacation home and did not want to spend $1500 like I normally would so I took Audio Advisor's reccomendation and gave the 300TI's a shot. I have to admit that I was unimpressed with the looks, not ugly like some say but just speakers. I had a little trouble with the binding posts having small imperfections in the threads but for $450, I was shocked that they even acecpted baba plugs. These speakers are not perfect but if they were put in a little prettier cabinet they could justify a retail price of atleast $1000 and compete with the big dogs!!! but I aint complaining about looks when I am buying something that sounds so sweet. |

I have had my 300TI's for just over a year now and unfortunatly did not pay $450 such as Audio Adc=visors price now. Instead I paid $525 trough another dealer. When I bought these I actually liked the starkness of the perfect rectangular block box and the simplistic design. If you remove the speaker grills, you see what I think is actually a pretty nice grey oval plate with shiny silver writinglooking plate that houses the tweeter. They sound incredible and in fact I favor them over my PSB's any day |

AMAZINGLY INCREDIBLE.....What more can I say? For a retail of $600 and average selling price of $400, these speakers are definately the best deal under $1000. There have been contradicting reports on titanium tweeters saying that there is no other material in the world capable of providing such hot crisp highs due to the metals rigidness and quick responsiveness but also possibly being too bright in some instances to almost cause ear bleeds. I have noticed that female vocals are rendered so precise and lifelike with the tweeters and the smooth but not overpowering notes from the mid range providing seemless transistion into the lower frequencies. The mid range may seem a little non existant but I think that is because the tweeter and bass cone offer such extensive coverage of the spectrum that the mid range is only used to warm the high's and blend them into the lows and not actually produce the mid's. I have not had much experience with too many high end speakers but I can say that of the 20 or so that I have auditioned, not a single one made me close my eyes so often to imagin the person or instrument right in front of me. As well, I was so happy about all of the money that I did not expect to save, I bought Higher end amps than origonally intended and got even a better deal. |

I brought these to replace a pair of Optimus LX-5s as my bedroom speakers. I decided on them without actually hearing them, after reading the reviews at this website and at various sites on the web. They sound great with every thing from Miles Davis to Earth Wind and Fire. I listen to "Best of the Eagles" and hear things I never heard before. Thanks to all the previous reviewers on this page who answered my e-mail questions about these speakers,I've joined the club. These are great speakers. Five stars! |

I have tweaked around with these speakers for a few years now. I've listened to then with tube amps, solid state, paid attention to room treatment, positioning, etc, etc,. I've also soldered all the clip on contacts internally (thanks for the tip Randy...cleaner sounding!)....and removed some of the internal dampening material (don't bother doing this....bass goes way too boomy). Conclusions: the passive midrange design I feel is the major drawback....I'm suprised that not more owners don't comment on this as well. The midrange is buried by the strong bass and tweeters (though both do what they do quite well). Perhaps these speakers sound good with a less revealing system...helping to boost the frequency extremes. If your a IDM (intelligent dance music) fan...these speakers sound great for this application...they have a dance club sound. If your not a bass freak and seek neutrality in the overall frequency spectrum.....do listen before you buy! |

Purchased these speakers used. The price was right and everything I read about them was positive. Currently using them in the bedroom. Hooked em up to a HK receiver. Sounds really good. I've heard better at audio stores, but that's from setups that costs thousands. |

Audition this speaker and found that it has very nice smooth highs andoverall good sound. It needs good stands and decent components or it will |

Where do I start? In my dedicated listening room,(which really is the single biggest improvement to your sound possible, if you can swing it) I have John Bowers Active Ones that definitely go deeper. In the living room are the 300ti's for music and Cambridge Soundworks Ensemble IV's for movie tracks. Power is from Yahamaha RX-V490 receiver using "speakers A" for the 300's. The Yamaha was clearly more musical to my ears against Onkyo and the rest. My bud Don concluded same in New Mexico. Bottom line, the Sound Dynamics 300ti's have not dissappointed on any count. The wife clearly prefers them for music. The Ensemble IV's are highly recommended for a do-it-all compromise for $300. You may wonder at my either old or low price components. To clarify my perspective, I've been chasing the holy grail of high end audio for 12+ years. That is, a WATT, Krell, CAT, Basis, Wadia comparable system for less than a $1000, Ha! The old law of diminshing returns puts the 300ti's at the knee of the curve, and that is where you get the most bang for your buck. By the way, don't just spend money trying to get better, (eg. the U.S. Government). To paraphrase Laura Deerborn in her book "Good Sound", (which was an infinitely better read, albeit somewhat dated, than Mr. Harley's tedium), states an axiom that has consistently brought joy to an _____ retentive like myself: a moderate system set up well always sounds better than a great one set up poorly. No wonder most of these people killed the boom with spikes.... Don't take my babble too seriously, (as in I'm not interested in debating, just in sharing my impressions), but I am well pleased with my 300ti's! Never aware of them, just music. Life's good. |

I never heard of these speakers before I purchased them. I was visiting a local stereo shop, looking for a cd player, when the salesman said "You have to hear these speakers". Well, I didn't buy a cd player, I came home with these speakers. My room is 14 x 24 with plaster walls and hardwood floors. The speakers are along the narrow wall, three feet or so from the walls, angled toward the listening position. They're sitting atop target stands using spikes at both ends. My equipment consists of an Adcom cd player,(which was what I was planning to replace; still going after ten years)a Jolida SJ302A integrated tube amp (great amp), connected with MIT interconnects and Audioquest speaker cable. One reason I liked the 300's from the start was they sounded very similar to the RA Labs Black Gold Mini Reference's (a small bookshelf that Sam Tellig said he liked once) I was using at the time, which I liked very much. Well these are even better! The same accurate midrange with more extension at both ends! I'm not getting the boomy bass or lack of midrange that others have stated. I'm guessing its my setup and equipment. These are very good speakers! No hard treble here. Great, accurate bass. I couldn't ask for more at the price, or more even. I'm an audio cheap skate, so I'm not into mega buck equipment. They are a great match for my taste and pocket book. Can YOU hear the music? |

Tried these borrowed from a friend. Have to say that they are not as terrific as TAS and Harry Pearson claimed, and Audio Advisor waxed (a dealer, so go figure). Boomy bass (never had these problems in my system and in my room, even with low-cost Paradigms). Midrange is clear but lean. Had them for about a week, thinking I may like a pair on-sale for my bedroom, but got B&Ws instead, for a lot less (302s, if you wonder) and a lot more satisfying! |
