Strength:
Excels is all ranges and styles of music(ex. jazz, club, techno, rock, classical, etc.)
Weakness:
Soundstage takes some serious tweaking to get it positioned correctly All I can say is WOW! These speakers are fantastic! For such a small form factor they deliver music, DVD's, and Laser Discs on a silver platter. I matched these speakers to two home built 15" subs driving everything at 100 watts connected to a Sony STR-DB830 and an old Technics receiver driving the subs. Strength:
great sound-especially highs, style, clarity, built-in wall brackets, banana-plug capable
Weakness:
weight(needed several wall anchor attempts), weak for 2-channel music I got these speakers through a netmarket deal for $250 shipped last Jan, and I must say I have been more than pleased with them. I am running them off of a Yamaha RXV-995, along with a Klipsch KSW-200 sub. I must admit I bought the speakers initally for use as a temporary set, until I could afford more expensive speakers. However, I now have no intention of replacing them, for they are very good. Sure you can do better for more money, but I can't justify spending thousands of dollars on speakers for marginal improvements. |

Strength:
Small, unobtrusive size, mounting bracket, clarity
Weakness:
Bass (can only expect so much from a 3.5" woofer) I've been searching for a quality, affordable pair of rear-surround speakers to complete my home theater for some time. The Realistics were OK, but couldn't be aimed at the listening area without expensive brackets. The BIC Venturis could be mounted so that they pointed toward the listening area, but had their backs to the wall so the sound was a bit colored. The Quintets look sharp, the sound is clear and realistic, and they fit into my small home theater/listening room perfectly. My receiver crosses over to my sub @ 90 Hz and these only go down to 100, so I lose a touch of midbass, but when all five speakers are pumping (mains & center are all KEF Q15) my little room is rockin'! Strength:
Don't take up much space. Easy to wall mount. Less expensive
Weakness:
Harsh sound. Gap between the sats and the sub. Music Sound, Muddy Center Channel I have used the Quintets (with the Kilpsch recommended sub) for close to 6 months to now. Looking back I wish I had save a bit more money and done some more comparison-shopping. Now that this website would provide all information that you need. I now realize that in the same price range I could have gotten a much smoother sound. There have been many occasions that I have had to rewind a DVD to understand the Audio. There is also a gap between the satellites and the sub, very noticeable with the THX sound demo. The speaker is OK for bedroom type system but I want something better for my main theater. The systems size and price are great, good looking speakers, and sound very good for video, but again I was a little disappointed in there music reproduction as I said. Similar Products Used: None |

Strength:
Looks nothing else
Weakness:
Everything. The stands (I think they need to recall). No Base, No clear sound I feel i have made a big mistake in buying this stuff. No Base. The dialogues were not so clear. I found my friends home, who had Yamaha, B&W were pretty decent for the price. This is a cheap stuff. Save money buy a better one. Heard of Def-Tech, I need to check those too. Strength:
Cheap price
Weakness:
Everything, the stand, base & clarity These speakers are very disappointing. After doing some research I thought these would be good spaekers but was I wrong. They are very inefficent, the stands are weak and come loose all the time. The crossover is too high (4900hz)if you listen carefully the small woofer can not handle the low and mid range and distorts vocals and guitar. I think playing these with the subwoofer hides the poor sound of the satilites. Similar Products Used: JBL's |

clear, price, quality of sound I LOVE THEM!!! They work really well with my new SONY 935 DTS receiver. The sub is very important since these are surround speakers that focus more on the higher frequencies. |

Strength:
great sound for small package and price
Weakness:
not a fullrange speaker...but still better than bose these speakers give a reasonablly full sound for the size, but if you want it all stay away even a mid fi bookshelf will bolw them away... but they would be good for a bedroom or a small system.. they have good wife factor :) Similar Products Used: bose cubes energy boston sats. |
