I just installed a D.D./DTS Home Theater for a friend last night. The speakers I installed are the Klipsch Quintets. I almost took them back because the stats have 4 ohms printed on them but the book said they were 8 ohms. I called Klipsch and they said it was a miss print. Well we hooked them up, and wow they sounded great for such a small speaker! I use Fifth Elements as referance material to evaluate a speaker. The highs were very detailed, yet not overly harsh. Voices sounded very natural. The mid range was lacking a bit but what can you expect for a 3 1/2 mid woofer. My friend paid $429 without sub. We bought an Energy exl-S8 instead because of its good reputation, sound and it cost $235 VS $300 for the Klipsch sub. On music alot of reviews said the Quintets lack in the music department. I thought they sounded just as good for music. If you have a tight budget these sound great for thier size. I've heard both the Energy Take Five and the Klipsch Quintets, I still dont know wich sounds better but the Klipsch Quintets do play louder then the Energy Take Five.
Happy Listening!

I just set up my Quintet system today with a Denon 3200 receiver and Klipsch subwoofer. I was very impressed...nice full sound...really excelled on DVDs...crisp voices from the center channel. all in all, a great package, especially for the price...

Good, not great, for movies but terrible for Music. Don't waste your money. Go with the Energy Take5's. The Energys can be had for about $499 on the internet.

Strength:

Great value for the sound.

Weakness:

Not enough range in the wallmount. I guess I'm not too coordinated as I had a hard time getting them adjusted properly... and they're still not pointed exactly where I want them.

I bought these after seeing them in a local ad and then checking out all the reviews here and other places. I like "bright" sounding speakers and these definitely qualify.
I have them connected to a Sony STR-DE935 and Advent AV550s sub. The first time the system fired up I was playing back "The Matrix" DVD bar scene where the Rob Zombie "Dragula" song is playing. Awesome!!! Since then we've enjoyed The Mummy, Blade Runner and Fifth Element.
Some people have complained about the quality of music through these, but my daughter played her Santana/Rob Thomas "Smooth" CD through them the other night and it sounded fine to me. These speakers will probably be used 99% for movies.
I got them for $305 on eBay.

Strength:

extremely clear highs and mids

Weakness:

zero bass

The Klipsch MicroQuintet speakers are probably one of the best Quintet systems on the market. The treble and mid ranges are extremely clear and has an excellent range in the treble that matches or bests many high end ($1000+) systems. There is zero bass, but this is because the system was meant to be paired up with the sub of your choice. Combined with the Klipsch KSW-12, this system is amazing and will surprise you for the price (~$400 + the price of the sub). If you don't believe me look at one of the Home Theater Magazines which rate these pretty high.

Strength:

Looks, sound, nice bass, design.

Weakness:

No ceiling mounting options, had to customize.

I am using these speakers as my rear surrounds. My couch is against the wall and my only option was to mount them on my ceiling. I could not find anyone who mounted these things on the ceiling and the company would not tell me the best way, they don't want to be liable if it falls and hits you on the head. I finally figured out the best way to do it and they look and sound incredible. I mounted them so that I can turn them in different directions to get different effects.... i.e. reflected sound, direct sound, or sitting in front of the t.v. playing PS2 sound. I am extremly pleased with these speakers, for the price and the performance they can't be beat. If anyone wants to know how to mount them on the ceiling safely and securely email me and I will tell you how I did it.

Strength:

Size, above average sound, value, built-in stand concept

Weakness:

Brightness, built-in stand implementation

For the money, this set of speakers does a very good job. They pump out clean sound, even at high volumes. They are constructed solidly and give the overall impression of quality even before you connect them. They do a particularly good job with home theater, which is what I use them for primarily. The horn tweeters, while bright and perhaps sometimes overpowering in the highs, do a nice job of cleanly reproducing the range of sound found on the movies I've played. I am a little less enthusiastic about their performance on music reproduction but the sound is still very enjoyable. I knew when I downsized to much smaller speakers that I would be missing something. With a good subwoofer, I believe that these are only weak in faithfully reproducing the midrange frequencies. However, I think the tradeoff was better than expected.

I liked the built-in stand concept that Klipsch has on these. You can set these on a shelf or simply rotate the base and mount them on the wall. This is a great idea but I feel that Klipsh could have designed them better. Once you get them set up it is something that we shouldn't be concerned about so I really can't complain too much. Overall, I'm very pleased with my purchase.

Strength:

Small easy to Hide

Weakness:

High level of Distortion at High Power Levels

When I finally came across a dealer in sydney, (not an easy task) I was most disapointed to say to least. I had heard the apollo pack by Jamo and the Bose acustimass(same price range)prior to them. I have read many reviews about how they perform and I must say they do creat high sound pressure levels for their size. But in comparison to the Jamo's not even close. I give them 2.5 for application but 2 for performance at high power levels.

Strength:

Great Sound/Size Ratio; comp. price; looks; wall mounts.

Weakness:

Range of mounts; speaker-wire connects.

After reading many reviews, I bought this system with the 10 inch sub also from Klipsch. I used all Monster Cable with banana klips. My HT receiver is the Sony 835, and I have the Sony 530 DVD player.

I like the design of these speakers. It was smart of them to make the white speakers (which I got) with a black center channel, since most TVs and components in the center are also black. The white speakers almost disappear into the corners of living room(which my wife likes), yet they still fill the room with an amazing sound. The sound is incredible with both movies and music. I listen to a lot of classical and jazz. One classical guitar cd sounds like the performer is sitting in the room! The sub is essential to the system, and my only complaint about it is the constant adjusting you need to do on it from DVD to CD and back (the mix is different from disc to disc.)

Overall, I am more than pleased with the sound. I compared with Bose and Energy. Bose wasn't anywhere near worth the money, and even if they were priced the same, they don't sound as good. I struggled to choose between Klipsch and Energy, and ended up choosing Klipsh, because they sounded warmer and more natural. I think it is because they have a better mid-range, but I'm not an expert on this. Just a personal preference ultimately I think.

Good Guys/Tower in Glendale had a nice closed room about the same size as my living room with all these systems set up. I tested it back and forth with DVDs (Mission Impossible) and music of all kinds (classical, rock, jazz, new age, etc.) IMHO, these were the best choice.

Great word-of-mouth for this set, but the one I received was mediocre at best. Actually, I was quite disappointed. For two of the sat's, the drivers were loose (audibly) and overall, the soundstage they presented was weak. I'm returning the set for defective repair or exchange but I don't know whether to look elsewhere.

Not a bad value though.
