Strength:

Mounting was very easy

Weakness:

Center channel causes green rings on TV

Matched with a Pioneer VSX 608 DTS Receiver, sounds great with DVD Movies, not so hot for Music. Added 200 watt sub which makes all the difference in the world. Center channel causing green rings on TV. Sent back center channel and the replacement is causing the same problem. Thought it might be the TV but it is not.

Strength:

Reasonable price. Good for movies.

Weakness:

Not for any kind of music. Bad joints.

I bought this set (4 speakers, and 1 center) for $800 w/ Klipch 12" KSW-12 powered sub from Uncle in NYC in March 1999. I paired it with Denon AVR-95 and VCR. It's okay for movies but definitely not for any kind of music. In addition, there is something to do with the joint at the neck. I have to fix (tighten) it every now and then.

Weakness:

Music Sound, Muddy Center Channel

I purchased the Quintet (w/o a subwoofer) from JANDR.com for $350 plus shipping. I already had a cheapo (Ultimate) subwoofer, so I didn't want to spend any more money.

The speakers are beautiful and the set-up is very easy with the integrated stand/mount. I wanted to hang the speakers high on my walls to get rid of the dorm-look in our family room. These certainly did the trick.

I popped the latest Bond DVD into my new Pioneer 302 DVD player and played it through my new Onkyo 575 receiver. The DD sound was impressive and chased my wife from the room. Unfortunately, I followed this with the Dixie Chicks CD and was unimpressed by the tinny sound coming from the 5-Channel Stereo.

Next I ordered Atlantic CT-1's and AR build sets. Upon receiving the Atlantic's I hooked its sub along with the Klipsh and noticed a big difference musically, but still was not overly impressed. In fact, the sound was actually better when I turned off the Center Speaker.

Upon hooking up the entire CT-1 system, I was sold by its musical sound. The 5-Channel Stereo was outstanding (meaning the Klipsch center was muddy in comparison). Unfortunately, they were twice the size of the Klipsch and not nearly as classy looking.

My dilemma: form or function

I chose function and returned the Klipsh. I do have a vaulted ceiling and a large (25X17) room. So it's possible that the Quintets couldn't handle the large space. I would recommend them as a classy looking speaker for home theater, but barely adequate for music. Also, make certain you have a decent subwoofer.

I would recommend reading the posts for the Atlantic's.

Strength:

Price, Awesome w/DVD's, quality construction

Weakness:

too dependent on subwoofer,

I had built up enough "sacrifice" years (Years without a decent stereo setup) to justify spending a chunk of change on a home theater setup. I had been looking at a HIFI.com setup which included the Cambridge SoundWorks MovieWorks 308
speaker set but I couldn't get past buying something without hearing it. So I went into Lexington and listened to these Speakers and quickly rounded up a Yahama receiver (595a) and DVD player (C900) and headed home to hook it all up to my Toshiba V51 32" TV. There are better set ups out there but for someone who's go without for years, I am thrilled with the way these speakers sound. Movie sound is out of this world. CD sound would be disappointing if I had ever had a decent setup before (which as I've said, I had not), so I can not complain. Klpisch is quality stuff and always had been, you can't go wrong with them.

Size, Looks, HUGE SOUND, clarity

Weakness:

Stands can be a little tricky to adjust

I was in the market for a new receiver and satellite speakers. I wanted to get the biggest bang for my buck. I was willing to spend up to $1200 for the receiver and speakers. Well, I accomplished my goal. I purchased the Onkyo 676 for $565 (one kick butt receiver), the Klipsch Quintets for $265 (4 sats 1 center) and the Klipsch KSW 12 for $299. I got all of this from J&R World.

I have been listening to the system for about a month in my 15x20 room. The speakers were a little "tight" but after 50 hours of break in, they have "warmed" up. I absolutely love these babies. They are compact, they look great and they crank out some CLEAN, loud sound. The sub is also a great buy. I have it set about 30%. Any higher and it rattles the whole house. This system could definetley fill a room twice the size.

I was going to try the Energy Take 5's, but I wasn't too crazy about the looks. Plus I would have had to spend $100 just for the stands.

If you are in the market for sats/sub. Look no further.

High Quality Sound, Looks, Size, Price...

Weakness:

NONE...

Quintet... 5 little speakers with such big sound.

I bought them for Home theater use which is soley what they are intended for. I payed $349 at JandR.com, a very nice price for such an awsome package. They are 100w continous and 200w peak. More than enough for movies. If you buying them just for music, wrong choice. You will need some towers or a sub to get the sound your looking for.

It's incredible how clear they sound with no distortion whatsover. While watching "Saving Private Ryan" It seems as if the characters are in the same room with you. They sound very realistic. Bullets seem to wizz over your head(I had to duck at one point). Shell casings seem to drop at your feet. It's amazing. When I added my Sub (JBL PSWD110 Read review) it took the experience to another level. Fantastic highs and lows... I never want to leave my house now. Now all I need is HDTV and for the movie companies to make more DVD's in DTS and I'll be a very happy man...

Not only do the Quintets sound great they look great. They are easy to mount and they take up virtually no space. If you want theater quality sound in your home, Great looks and very small footprint. Then this is the package to get.

My system:
Denon AVR 1800 Reciever
SONY DVP530D DVD
Klipsh Quintet HT Speakers
JBL PSW D110 Powered Subwoofer
JVC 400w Fronts (for music)
SONY 27" TV
SONY CD Player
Monster Cables everywhere

Strength:

Nice eye appeal. Excellent sound from such a compact system. (With KSW10", PLENTY of bass)

Weakness:

Mounts are annoying to set up.

I have been long overdue for a good-quality sound system. My best system to date was a low-end Panasonic receiver with broken buttons driving a pair of Optimus towers. (Actually not too bad, dual 10"s with fairly good sound). Like most home theater reviewers, my objective was to get as good of sound out of a system that would not dominate the room (or upset the spouse...). Satellites are the way to go. So, I listened to several Demo systems ranging from Sony and Panasonic to the Bose Lifestlye and was looking into the price of the Lifestyle 12 system. Thank God I decided to research the Lifestyle system on the internet! I noticed most of the flaws that were reported by reviewers of the Lifestyle system, but thought they would be the best I could get for the money. It was a relief to see that there were DOZENS of other HT systems out there that outperformed Bose. I then had the daunting task of trying to determine which system had the best price/performance. Problem was that I didn't have much opportunity to listen to any of them. I had to go with past listening experience. I considered the JBL SC125, since it got decent reviews, father has top-end JBL towers that ROCK, and it's an awesome price. But I ended up with Klipsch's due to slightly better rating, I have listened to Klipsch products and LOVE the tone, and they aren't TOO expensive.
Picked up Quintet w/ KSW10 from soundpro.com for $625, S/H INCLUDED. Arrived three days later, setup with Kenwood VR357 (Decent reciever) & RCA RC5910 5-disc DVD player and was listening to DVD's that night. I love the tone, HT mode plays wonderfully, and I enjoy listening to music CD's more than ever (Haven't listened to detailed music such as opera, symphony, etc yet... but AC/DC and Depeche Mode come through with punch and clarity that is amazing for such a small system) I really see no need for 12" SW option, unless you are in a large room (our listening room is 10' deep x 20' wide). 10" really delivers!
Summed up: Sorry for long review, but wanted to give some background on my choice. As you see, I'm not an experienced audiophile, but I do have an ear for quality music and am quite pleased with the Quintet system. Listen to it beforehand if you can. If you can't, take a chance and get it online from a company that offers money-back if you don't like it. Chances are you will, though!

Strength:

Price, performance, style, adjustable pedestal

Weakness:

Music (slightly), adjustable pedestal

Greetings,

I recently purchased a basic home theater system revolving around these Klipsch Quintets. For reference, I am using a Sony STR-DB 830 receiver and an older subwoofer from my previous system (plan to buy a Klipsch KSW-12 soon).

Dealing with price/performance, I can't see (or hear) anything better for the price and size of the speakers. With DVDs (using an economical Toshiba SD-3109 DVD player), they sound amazing.
I do understand some of of the talk of how they lack in the music department. I feel that they only do this slightly, but it is noticeable.

Dealing with the adjustable base, it's great to have because you can position them easily in whatever direction you please, but they sometimes like to stay pointing down if you don't get it in position it wishes.

Regardless of the minor weaknesses, I'd recommend these speakers easily to anyone. So far I've been extremely please with my purchase.

Looking for a great, economical home system that isn't intrusive? Try the Quintets. Of course, the sound will vary from ear to ear since judging sound quality is very subjective (as what a previous person stated).

Just in case anyone was curious, I purchased mine from the Good Guys. They were selling them for $500, but I got them to pricematch J&R (www.jandr.com) who was selling them for $350. For $350 (or for $500), the sound quality and price/performance can't be beat.

Strength:

Small size, Klipsch reputation, wall mounting capabilities

Weakness:

mounting brackets loosen easily. Music reproduction.

First of all, I want to give a plug for the online retailer that I purchased these from (www.modernsound.com). I called and talked to this guy before purchasing them and he was friendly and informative. He spent a good 15 minutes with me offering suggestions for other components for my budding home theater system. I ordered them over the phone for $155.00 with NO SHIPPING. They arrived spotless, in the factory sealed box in three days. These will be used for rear, surround satelites but as soon as I got them, I hooked them up to my Carver amp to see how they sounded musically. Honestly, I was somewhat disappointed at how they performed with a Steely Dan CD. They appeared to struggle and sounded a little tingy. However, they were going solo, with no sub or anything and I believe are more suited for the purpose in which I purchased them for and that's home theater. I think they perform well above average and you cannot beat them for $155.00. I wouls purchase them again.

Strength:

size, design, stands, speaker wire posts, can mount on walls easily

Weakness:

sound

I bought (2) of these speakers off ubid for $49/pc. (shipping and tax included) I bought them knowing I would not be using them in my main home theater room. I simply bought them for my setup in my master bedroom. I love the design of these speakers, but it is my opinion that if you really want to experience the quality of DD or DTS sound you need to go with a nice floor standing speaker with more power. If you live in a dorm or small apartment then these speakers would suit you fine, but if you are building a home entertainment center then I would look elsewhere.

Most reviewers have whinned about the stands, and I am not sure why? Mine are very sturdy. I also wanted to add that I
do not think these speakers match up to BOSE, but for $49 a piece you probably can't go wrong if your on a budget. I would simply use these speakers as rears. Just my $.02
