Strength:

Strong solid sound, superb clarity, built in stands, stylish design

Weakness:

loose joints on the stands

I have the Quintets paired with the Klipsch KSW-10 sub and hooked up to a Yamaha 595a receiver.

Need a smile? Play your favorite DVD movie on the Quintets through a Dolby Digital receiver. I know I couldn't stop smiling when I heard the Quintets.

These speakers sound fantastic for their small size. I listened to Mirage, Boston Acoustics, and the Klipsch in my local A/V store. (I've also listened to the Energy Take 5 series in a store in Florida.) We watched the opening scene for Tomorrow Never Dies and to me, I could really tell which side machine gun fire was coming and where the jet was travelling on the Quintets. I just love the clarity of this system. As another reviewer stated my clarity is someone elses harshness. I'd also recommend listening to the Mirage AVS500's. They have a real full rich sound to them. But they didn't seem to have the directional focus of the Quintets.

It sounded great in the store, but sounds fantastic in my house. There isn't any distortion or clipping at strong volumes and the KSW sub is just the right size for my living room. When it comes to music, if the sound does seem bright I just knock it down by adjusting the treble control.

Complaints? Just that the joints on the stand were set too loose from the factory. The speaker didn't want to stay in the position I wanted so I had to take the stands off and tighten the two screws next to the ball joint. That seemed to do the trick.

All this great sound, a great looking package, for far less than $1000. It's a fantastic value.

Strength:

great integrated brackets, crystal clarity, tremendous value

Weakness:

as with any speakers, your amp will affect how these sound. My Sony STRDB 930 is a great fit (on small speaker setting).

Don't let their size fool you. These speakers rock! For the price, there is nothing close. Jandr.com - $289 for the sats and $249 for the KSW 12. great range. Highs are cyrstal clear. fit and finish are super. They look and sound great. I reccomend this package without hesitation.

Strength:

Clear crisp sound at FULL volume, excellent size-to-size ratio, they look great, full sound from upper bass all the way up to near the hearing threshhold

Weakness:

none.....
I've read this on a lot of posts, but the stands aren't that bad. They just need re-tightening if you re-adjust the position

These are the first "higher end", if you could call them that, speakers I've ever owned. I read every one of these posts before making my purchase, and every praise written here is absolutely correct in my opinion. they play (with my receiver anyways) at full volume with ZERO distortion from their bottom usable frequency to their top. they look beautiful in the corners of my room and most people don't even notice them until I fire 'em up. Also,(again in my opinion) they sound significantly louder then they look. I have read in a few places that they sound "bright". If all you had was 4 quintets they probably would sound bright. But my sub and center channel play plenty loud to fill in the gap below the quintets' bottom end. When combined with a matched center speaker, sub, good quality receiver and dvd source, These speakers truly are great for music and movies. I'm glad I bought them and I'm sure I'll have them for a long time.

my A/V system-

RECEIVER - Marantz sr-4000

TELEVISION/PC MONITOR - 27" stereo toshiba

DVD SETUP - I'm running a toshiba dvd drive and a ATI Radeon all-in-wonder video card feeding AC-3 coaxial S/PDIF digital 5.1 audio and composite video into my receiver and TV. Plus I have a Logitech RF wireless keyboard w/ built-in mouse pointer.

SPEAKERS:
4 Klipsch quintets

1 Klipsch SC-1 center channel with a tractrix tweeter and dual five and a quarter inch mids

1 Klipsch KSW-15 800 watt powered fifteen inch subwoofer

for a 21 year-old casual audio enthusiast this system is killer price AND performance-wise.....

Strength:

A good system for the price. Nice high end clarity without harshness

Weakness:

Midbass lacking

I have had these speakers for over a year now, running the Quint Sats, center, and KSW-150 sub. Pushed by an Onkyo TX-DS 555, and Toshiba DVD player. This system is GREAT for movies, but lacks some on pure musical listening. These have been my findings;
The horn tweeters are fabulous
The KSW-150 sub is awesome
The 3.5 inch woofer on the Quints doesn't have enough range to get down to where the sub can pick up the rest. The Quints only go down to around 180hz, and the sub only goes up to about 120hz. That 60hz gap in response is plenty to give that 'somethings missing' feeling that other reviewers have mentioned.
All in all the components of this system are great--they just don't quite match one another properly. Maybe a different sub would work better, but I'm just going to upgrade my front left and right Quints to B&W 602's. They should make up the difference in musical balance for the entire system, albeit at a price ($550).

Strength:

Sound Quality, Size and Stands/mounts

Weakness:

Initial adjustment of the mounts when installing on walls or ceiling.

After listening and reviewing a plethora of speakers (with my initial bias towards Infinity) I went with the Quintets. They sounded great in the listening room. The Bose didn't even come close and the Infinity did sound slightly better (but not twice the price better). I have a rather small room where my home theater is set up and the built-in mounts were a godsend. The mounts were a pain to adjust in the back corners of the room. Mounting the front satellites in the ceiling (actually it's an entertainment nook) was much easier. I played my reference CD (Bonnie Rait's version of 'Runaway') and knew I made the right choice. In the right room (i.e. my room) these little speakers rock! Yes they are bright(my prefernce)and yes they have no low end (thats what subs are for), but for small sats these speakers can't be beat. Would I recommend them? You bet!

Strength:

Best HT speakers I could find

Weakness:

Music, but then again thats not what they were made for...

I got these speakers about 4 months ago and after I ran all the wiring through my walls and finished the mounting (which was easy), and plugged them into my new Denon 1801 I was impressed. The sales person promised me that they would be great dual purpose HT/music speakers and that they can really take a beating. So I turned it up. They sound ok for music but not great. Oh yeah and I didnt get the Klipsch sub I went with a Definitive Technology 9 or 12 inch. I love it.
Can anyone recogmend a good pair of towers in the price range of $600 I'd love to have a pair of Definitive Technology BP 2006TL But I believe they are out of my price range anyone know anything similar????

Weakness:

poor sound quality, flimsy casing

What is most important to me in a speaker is how it *looks* - the sound is only a secondary consideration. That's why I love the Klipsch Quintet! I picked these up cheap on uBid and haven't looked back since. I got these to replace my Mission 70 rear channels - they sounded great, mind you, but those boring black casings! Ugh.

I was about to buy a pair of Optimuses at my local Radio Shack (closeout for $250!!!) when I found these sweet little numbers online and was sold on their almost orgasmic curves. The sound is pretty crappy, but let me tell you, the ladies love em! "Quintet" - even the NAME sounds sexy!

Unfortunately I broke one when I tried to use it to knock some tweeters off my McIntosh XRT26. The Quintets may look good and stubby, but don't try to use them to bludgeon things. I learned the hard way, and I'm passing on my knowledge to you.

All in all, I'm very happy with the Quintet. I taped the one I busted back together, and though I ripped the tweeter, it actually sounds BETTER than new. I think I'll make some modifications on the other one too. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who is like me.

Weakness:

none for my purposes

They play loud and clean as rear surrounds in my HT. I don't believe I would be satisfied with them as main speakers. They blend in just fine for real effects with the rest of my system. The brackets work just fine, as long as you are patient and DO NOT MOVE THEM WITHOUT LOOSTENING THE SET SCREWS!

My HT:
Denon AVR-2800
JBL SVA-1600 Main (do bad they don't make them anymore)
BIC DV62CLR Center (Don't laugh, check out the reviews!!!)
SVS 20-39PC Subwoofer (>110db at 20HZ and no distortion)
Phillips 27" TV (getting a real TV before I go blind)
Sony 660 DVD Changer
