Strength:

sound, price I paid, versatility as H.T speakers

Weakness:

I'm not so sure about the built in speaker stands....kind of cheapy...

I'm truly amazed at the sound quality that comes out of these little speakers!....I keep thinking that I'll blow them up and fry them...but, they keep asking for more...I do admit the sound quality went way up when I hooked up my Yamaha Sub to them. I have tested these speakers with the Phantom Menace DVD and The Eagles (When Hell Freezes Over) DVD...as well as Jurassic Park and The Fifth Element...and the Klipsch Speakers continue to amaze and garner respect. I'm a Klipsch fan for life.

Strength:

Design and performance.

Weakness:

Still haven't found any.

I posted a review a while back and I gave these speakers high marks. I still rate these speakers very highly, but this review is to post the instructions on how to mount these things to your ceiling. I have been receiving a bunch of emails since my last posting on how I did this so here it is.

To mount on ceiling:

First take the speaker of the stand. Now drill a hole through the base, through the pre-existing holes. You should now have two holes all the way through the each base. Now drill two holes in the ceiling per speaker, mark
them first with base as a guide. Now insert a long screw with a washer through each hole and attach a toggle bolt on the other side of each screw. Now insert the toggle bolts in the ceiling until they open up. Pull down on
the bracket as you tighten the screw. The base is now firmly and safely attached to the ceiling. Re-attach the speaker and crank it up. Anymore questions feel free to drop me an email. Good luck and happy listening.

Strength:

Sound, convenient size, mounting brackets.

Weakness:

NONE

These are the best compact speakers you can buy for a home theater at anywhere near the price. Of course you need a sub to compensate for explosions in movies and things like that. I used to think these speakers were a little weak on bass until I hooked them up to my Harman Kardon AVR 110 that I just purchased. These speakers have more bass than I ever imagined. They are truly awesome. I have a HDTV and my friends marvel more at the sound than the TV which makes me upset (not really). I am a Klipsch fan for life. I did get the Klipsch KSC-C1 center to compensate for the insufficient center that I have heard so much about from the previous postings (Thank you ever so much). I love my system.

Strength:

Size, power handling, overall sound/size ratio

Weakness:

Hex screws on stands loosen up easily

I wasn't going to say anything about these speakers until I read some of the bad reviews. First, these are SMALL speakers...they aren't going to produce good bass, period. For their size, these speakers produce high quality sound. I have a pair as rear-surrounds in a small home theatre room, and they have produced nothing but quality sound. Yes, you need a subwoofer, or a pair of mains that produce decent bass, or both. I have floor-standing main/front surround speakers, Quintets in the rear, Klipsch KSCC1 center, and Polk Audio PSW-250 sub hooked to a Yamaha receiver. I've created and balanced my theatre using a variety of speakers, not a pre-packaged deal, and it sounds great. I also know the technical end of things a little more then your average joe, and I have to say that for the price and size, these are great speakers with a very high sensitivity (92db+ on my system). To the one guy who kept frying them, I'd recommend he check his receiver, his amp, his power supply, his ohm load, his ohm balance, and his wires. You're either putting way too much power into these things or something else is amiss somewhere. Or maybe they had a bad day at the factory. I've never had or heard of anyone else frying these before. The bottom line is that these are good speakers for mid-to-high range reproduction. For their tiny 3" speakers, they even manage a little bass. Unless you are putting thousands into your HT, these make good rear-surrounds. I think they play music decently, but that isn't really what they are designed for. Skip the package, but get a pair for the back of the room. Or for a B-channel into another room. I'm giving it 4 value stars only because Klipsch had originally sold the Quintets as a total HT theatre package, and I don't think they are adequate for front and center surround. You can now buy them in pairs on various sites on the web.

Strength:

super-small, super-clean, adjustable bases; awesome for home theater

Weakness:

no ceiling mounting option for surrounds; a sub is absolutely required

I've read some mixed reviews on the Quintets, particularly those remarking upon a lack of bass reproduction; to those I say: what do you expect? We're talking 3.5 inch drivers here-- not world reknowned for their ability to reproduce low frequencies. What they do, and do well, is produce super-clean, crisp sound that makes my previous Sony set sound like they were playing under a thick layer of mud.

They really have to be run with a sub-- they do what they can, but they really need some help down in the sub-100hz range. I don't consider that a weakness-- the Quintets are the 5 in the 5.1. You can turn them up as loud as you dare with DVDs, but their reproduction of regular music (CDs, radio) is best for casual listening or cranking at parties. This is not exactly the audiophile setup, but I imagine that the guys with $3,000 dollar DVD and SACD players will be looking a little higher end for their speaker needs.

The ceiling problem is easily overcome-- i jst mounted mine upside down-- soundstaging doesn't seem to be affected.

Bottom line: can be found on eBay at tremendously fair prices, usually $275-325-- and in that range, they absolutely cannot be beat. They rule that class, hands down. And for those, like me, who develop a certain richness of the blood as time marches on, take heart.. you can always replace the front end with some bigger Klipsch bookshelf units down the road. But if your prior set was, or is, anything like my Sony, you could not be happier with the Quintets.

Strength:

Size, price, build quality

Weakness:

Sound

For these to sound good with music, you have to cover up their shortcomings with a sub. Coming from Klipsch, they were a bit of a disappointment....they lack the energy and clarity that other Klipsch speakers have. But perhaps that's understandable, given their intended role in life.

I used them as my mains while I was awaiting the arrival of a pair of bookshelf speakers, and was unfortunately unimpressed. They have been relegated to the back corners of the room, but fulfill the task of surround speakers reasonably well.

If you're looking for a whole system, put together something with a pair of bookshelf speakers (see my review on the Klipsch SB-3) for your mains and a pair of these for the surrounds and you'll be much happier. Don't worry about the added cost of the bookshelves, because unless you are a real bass fanatic, you can probably get by without a sub (I usually turn mine off anyway).

Strength:

Good clarity

Weakness:

Sub dependent

I bought four KSB-1 and a KSC C-1 center channel. I had no expectations for these speakers where music was concerned and have been pleasantly surprised. They are not bad...

For home theater usage, the quintet sounds great. I think that I got a 1999 center channel with 2000 satelites (no complaint) from the EBay seller I got these from. I never heard the two centers side by side, but I think that it one I got sounds better than the smaller newer center that I had seen when I checked these out at the Wiz.

Overall these speakers sound fairly clean at high volumes and for the price I'd say that they're hard to beat.

Strength:

Cheap price!, Affordable, Good looks!

Weakness:

None! Its worth for what I 've paid

Great sound out of small speakers.
Paid $250 for 5 of them. Not able to find a better deal. Thinking of getting a sub for a deal. Its great for the value. There are better deals on-line so check those - my honest advice, dont buy this stuff in shops you pay sky-high, save on taxes (of course you pay for shipping but it works out less than the tax)

Ideal for my apartment. My home-theatre has worked out very less. I am happy with its performance.

May be you could buy better speakers than this for huge rooms. Some times there is little distortion but its okay.

Good looking speaker. I bet you Can not find better speakers for price range.

Its worth for the price I have paid. I would give 5 star for the price I have paid.

I would give one Star for the price drop from original price of these speakers and making it very cheap.

Anyway I am happy! Goodluck guys. I'll have this for another couple of years and trash it (for the price I have paid)

Strength:

Very attractive, quality build, excellent sound for their size - GREAT PRICE

Weakness:

None as compared with others in their size.

Sadly, I paid $1000.00 for a Bose Accoustimas set up 4 years ago. For $600.00 total, I replaced the Bose with the Quintet's and a Klipsch KSW-12 sub. Night and day difference in sound, especially in the bass department. Some people think the horn designed Klipsch speakers are too bright or harsh. I must admit that both times I've listened to a friends Klipsch tower speakers, I was left feeling fatigued. However, I can listen to my Quintets all day long - they sound great. Very impressed with Klipsch. Can't beat 'em for the price.

Strength:

Small size, Versatile Brackets(wall/table), Affordable, Good construction, Amazing sound for the price.

Weakness:

Center channel tends to distort a little bit, almost unnoticeable unless you have a trained ear and are looking for it. This rarely happens.

These are great speakers for home theater. Their small size lets you install them in a variety of ways. If you have a small room, this is the speaker for you.

If you want to really have these sounding at their best:

1. Use a decent cable. (12 gauge)
2. Use reflected sound absorbers and diffusers.
3. Use a good sub-woofer.

They will handle power up to 200w nicely.

I am extremely happy with this speakers and will recommend them to anyone setting up their first home theater or someone on a budget.

Compared to Bose, there is no comparison. BOSE sucks big time.

Compared to Paradigm Performance Series, Quintets sound really great for Home Theater but not as good as Paradigm for MUSIC. Not that they sound bad, just that there are better (more expensive) one for MUSIC.

Compared to JM LAB, well if you have $5,000 for speakers probably you should not be reading a review for Quintets.
