Strength:

Incredible Mids and bright treble that's not tiny or superficial.

Weakness:

None.

I originally was going to purchase Polk's 6200 series, but on testing both sets the 6600 had a much more defined and filled-out sound. The 6200 have weaker midrange and tiny highs compared to these (still good speakers though). But for the price difference the 6600s are a clear choice.

I have these hooked up to a Denon 2801 reciever, and they just kick. Music is bright and vibrant, instruments can be picked out from other instruments clearly. With 5 channel sound the Denon provides the entire room (300 sq. feet) is filled entirely with crisp sound. And the center channel speaker creates pretty decent bass on its own (for a sat.)The set came free with a PS250 sub, which I was going to switch out for the 350...but there's no need. The 250 produces low, booming sounds that shake my walls already. I couldn't imagine wanting more bass! The Polk recommended setup uses purely the sub's crossover, which is better I suppose, but I used the preamp out scenario, which is easier and sounds very good.

I thought the sound was great before - all my friends say this is the best sounding system they have ever heard - but I tested Gladiator with DTS last night and I was blown away how much better it was even over the Dobly Digital. These are the best satelites you can buy, hands down. And the price is right. Anything more you should go for floor standing.

Strength:

Mids and Highs, Tight Bass not Boomy, big sound from small size

Weakness:

Mounting options

This is my first Home Theatre setup and I've been looking for a Satellite System for quite some time. I've heard so much about Bose and was very impressed by the AM15s. I listened to them quite often on my many trips to Circuit City. To my surprise when I auditioned the Polk RM6600 with the Onkyo TX-DS696, I was blown away. Not only did it make the Bose weak sounding and over priced, it shook the walls down combined with the PSW350 subs.

Now that the above setup is in my house, I couldn't be more happier. We've just purchased a new wall unit and these mighty mites look great! I've just finished watching Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon and the Dolby Digital Audio coming out of these babies were rocking!

Setup was very easy although I was puzzled by the recommendation that the subs should be hooked up to speaker outputs when a sub line level output is just as good. We could've used some more mounting options for the sats. As it is mounted currently on my walls it could use some additional angle into the listening area.

My recommendation is find a decent Dolby Digital Receiver like the Onkyo and pair them with these RM6600. Don't forget the subs. You can't go wrong with any of the models above the PSW250s such as the 350/450 or 650. Price is just right too!

If you are first time Home Theatre listener then this Sat/Sub setup is perfect. If you have a bigger listening area then say...20x15 you should go with towers.

Strength:

Stylish design, sturdy constuction and great sound.

Weakness:

None to date.

We purchased a 32-inch Toshiba and Sony DVD player but we were missing the full range of DVD sound through our television. After researching reviews of home theater systems on this website, we decided to demo the Polk RM6600 at Circuit City.

Impressed by the Mission Impossible 2 demo we were sold on the spot. We rounded out the system with the Polk PSW350 subwoofer, Denon AVR-1601 receiver, and two pairs of Chicago adjustable speaker stands. The system is in our 13X15 bedroom and boy does it rock!

My wife and I are not audiophiles, but we are movie buffs. We find the sound to be the next best thing to being in a movie theater. Movie action and dialogue come alive, as well as music from CD. For the money this is literally the biggest bang for the buck.

Like a lot of people looking for a sat. surround system I thought about getting the Bose AM15 system. Then I read all the negative reviews on Bose and the positive reviews on the Polks. I've had these speakers for about 5 months and still can't believe the sound I'm getting from them. I originaly ordered these with the ps350 sub and when my friend heard them he ordered the set with a ps450. I then traded my sub for his plus the price difference. I have a 20'x 20' room and the bass will rattle my wifes knick knacks off the shelves.(maybe thats a good thing). Anyway if you are looking for a great system at a great price look no farther than Polk. I would also like to thank all the people that take the time to write these reviews and to the site itself. Great job, keep up the good work!

I bought these over the web from Crutchfield. Their service is fantastic. two day shipping on 100 lbs of stuff for $12.95. Center channel was shorted out when I hooked it up. Crutchfield had another to me in two days, free shipping, no questions asked. I definiteley recommend them. Now, to the speakers. I replaced Bose AM-7's in the front and center channels and Bose AM-3's in the surrounds. That's 2 Bose "bass units", they're not subwoofers, against the PSW350 sub that comes with the Polks. No contest. I have to keep turning the Polk sub down to keep the pictures on the walls. You can actually feel your pants fluttering from 15 ft away when this cranks up. Play the scene in Aliens when they drop from the mother ship and hold on.
I thought my Bose sounded pretty good till I tried these. I'm hearing dialog, music, surround sounds that weren't even there with the Bose. The center is extremely clean and the whole system is matched well. Surround sound transitions are seamless. Overall these sound great.

Strength:

Extremely clean at high power. Sub has plenty of bass for size. Overall, a terrific buy.

Weakness:

No mounting brackets included.

Instead of trying to get a new product in, I would like to give my comments on the Polk RM6200s here, if this is wrong, I apologize. I recently decided to upgrade my dinosaur of a receiver I own. I purchased an Onkyo TX-DS484. Nice receiver, but far from the top. I've been using a pair of Bose 301-seriesIII direct/reflect bookshelf speakers for many years and had no complaints, but I was ready for the whole surround sound experience. So I put the Bose in the garage, and started checking out surround speakers. When I heard the Polks, I was blown away. I've heard surround sound before, but I was amazed at how clear and full the Polks sounded. I listened to the RM 6200s and the RM6600s and to tell the truth, I didn't hear all that much difference between the two sets(Granted, I'm not an audiophile by far, but they sounded really good). I decided to buy the RM6200's and give them a try. I kept thinking about the difference in the receiver I listened to in the store ( some super high-end Pioneer that did everthing but make coffee and I think that was available if you requested it!)and my everyday, average Onkyo. Well, when I hooked them up, Oh Man! They sounded just like they did in the store! I read reviews that say the bass is not adequate from the PSW-250, but I'm hear to tell you that the PSW-250 puts out. I never turn it above half way, ever! I would definitely suggest the 6200s over the 6600s.Reason: cheaper and sounds just as good. Hope this helps.

Strength:

Home Theater (Movie) performance

Weakness:

Mids, speaker brackets

I have these speakers connected to a Onkyo Receiver and the PSW-350 sub. All the dobly digital DVD's I have tried have sounded great. In fact I think it sounds clearer then the movie theater I just went to.

The one weakness is the mid's seem to be a little flat or muddy on hard fast rock music, everything else sounds good.

One interesting note is that the RM6600's and the PSW-350 are meant to be together, and Polk recommends a strange hook-up (Your receiver doesn't think you have a sub, you connect sub to recv using the "A speaker" posts. It isn't a bad thing, just counter-intuitive.

Overall I recommend them for someone looking for awesome home theater, and good solid music speakers, in a very small package.

Strength:

Small Size, Great for small to medium sized rooms, Awesome sound!

Weakness:

The "mounts" that come with them are garbage

After much inner-debate I decided to go with a sub/sat system to meet the needs of my future home theater. I am very pleased with the purchase of this product. I opted for the psw350...you will not be disappointed with this sub! Very nice. The system fills my medium sized room with very warm and accurate sound. You will not go wrong if you decide to buy this.

A while back I posted a review on the RM6600/PSW450 sat/sub combo. I am just as happy now as I was when I bought them. I bought them from Crutchfield in January and at the time Polk was offering a free PSW 250 with the purchase of any RM6600. Crutchfield credited the $250 from the PSW250 towards the purchase of a PSW450 for me. Crutchfield just sent me there latest catalog and the offer is up and running until the middle of August. This is a tremendous offer and creates a great buying oppurtunity.

Strength:

Crispness, clarity, small size, affordable

Weakness:

none yet determined

I spent countless hours listening, web-surfing reviews, and pondering which speakers were best for me. Due to my requirements (ceiling-mounting and they MUST fit with my wife's decor), I needed speakers that were white in color and very small. My choices were basically narrowed down to Polk Audio and the Bose AM-25 (w/powered sub).

Since the Bose system comes as a package, one is limited to their sub...which I feel is adequate at best. The true revelation came when I listened to both side by side. The Polk Audio blew Bose out of the water. What the Bose lacked in fullness, the Polks span the full range providing crispness/clarity for music listeners (especially Jazz) and full tonal quality for home theater enthusiasts.

What pushed it over the top was the fact that I was not limited to one specific subwoofer. This is crucial depending upon your budget, room size, etc. I hate saying, "They are the best speakers for the price," because you might think that you are comprising...But if you have similar requirements as I did, believe me when I tell you that this system kicks butt!!!

Since only Circuit City and Crutchfield carry the RM660 Series, I went with Crutchfield. FYI...my experience was very good. Price paid for entire system (4 satellites, 1 center, and PSW350 subwoofer)...$999.95
