Strength:
Halfway decent sound for the price
Weakness:
Snap crackle pop...no more amp after 3 months The amp blew on this thing after 3 months. I called KLH, and they were very nice about it and told me that they would ship a new amp to me (providing copy of receipt). I also asked them if they had been to this website before and seen all of the reviews of this equipment that reported this amplifier problem, and he said that he had. He also said that the amp has been redesigned to prevent this problem and that KLH had attempted to contact everyone who wrote a review here complaining of a blown amplifier so that they could work on replacement and only got 2 responses. |

Strength:
Cost,L and R RCA inputs. Speaker level inputs/outputs. sound good
Weakness:
If your into high volume sound consider getting a better quality speaker. This is a great speaker for the average listener. If you have a small set of speaker and you just want to add some low end, this is a great speaker. It will probably be great for most users. You can always try it and take it back if you dont like it, so give it a shot and youll probably be happy with it. Does Not Work This is the first sub that I have used as my system has mains with 15" woofers, and I am finally upgrading. I am to this point not too happy with my purchase, the sub does not work. It plays for about 10 to 15 seconds, and then cuts off. It does this using either type of input, and I can't figure out why. I purchased this product mail order for $99 and I guess you get what you pay for. Before I pay almost that much to ship it back around the country, I probably will just cut my losses and buy another sub. I have also learned my leason, even though you can buy things cheap mail order, when they don't work, and are as heavy as this product the cost to ship it back is not worth is. At least if it had been purchased locally I could just take it back. If anyone has had this problem with a powered sub please e-mail me if you know how to fix it. Similar Products Used: First Sub |

Excellent bass for the price
Weakness:
No outputs to hook up additional sub I purchased the ASW10-120 in Jan. of 2001. Call me crazy but what exactly are the people doing who say their sub "blew up" after 3 days, 2 weeks, 3 hours(really now?). First I have my sub hooked up to a Sony Dolby Digital receiver reated at 100 watts per channel. I use the sub-woofer out to connect my sub using monster cables. The sub sits in the corner of my den. I have played X-Men,Matrix,Aliens,Independence Day and many other bass heavy movies on my DVD and my sub performed like a champ! No popping, distortion, and any of the other problems encountered by others. First of all if you're connecting your sub using speaker level inputs instead of the preferred sub out and are cranking your receiver all the way up with the bass cranked up guess what? Your receiver is probably distorting. This distortion will kill any speaker, I don't care how much you paid for it, if it continues. Second I keep my volume about 40-50% depending on the volume of my receiver. Never had a problem. Well if you are going to turn the volume on the sub all the way up along with your receiver's volume I guess you would blow it up. Third I noticed that a lot of people purchased these subs from Costco's. Many times discount stores like that will purchase items in bulk from manufacture's knowing that there are problems. How do you think they can sell them to you so cheap?(Use your brain people). I have compared my KLH to my JBL-10, that for the record although a little tighter does not put out the level of bass my KLH does. Place this sub in the right place(corner, not in middle of room), use the sub outputs and keep the bass control on your receiver set to flat(no bass boost,as most of the times the frequencies for these controls are set in the midbass range which will muddy your sound) and your KLH sub should sound good and last a good while. By the way, don't compare this sub to others costing $300 & $400. That's like comparing a Hyundai to a Mercedes. Similar Products Used: JBL-sub 10in. Sony sub-12in |

Strength:
The subwoofer can be compared with relatively compared with velodyne and klipsch products if used properly. Keep your frequency set around 60hz or lower and the gain at around 5/8th of the way up. You will be pleasantly surprised. The auto function works great and there is no popping when activated. I purchased two at the same time and run both in the same room, one in phase and the other out of phase. This seems to have evenly filled the entire room and balanced the hot and cold spots out nicely. The amps never seem to reach above room temperature.
Weakness:
If you run the frequency up above 1/2, they sound a little muddy with the gain set up where it is, but remember, they were $99.00. All in all, i would definately consider this sub. I have about $10k +- in stereo equipment and I think you will be happy. I had bad feelings about KLH in general and heard about alot of disappointed people. Not a very high end company at all, but genericaly speaking, alot of options that the big boys have, at alot cheaper of a price. I wouldn't consider any of their other products in the past, but this one seems to be a decent one so far. |

Price - Power - Solid unit
Weakness:
none in this price range I purchased this sub. when it was on sale last year at buy.com for a delivered price of $79.99. This is the best buy i have ever made in electronics. There is nothing even close to this sub in performance until your at the $200 range and up.No problems just reliability. Silent on/off,plenty of punch and power.I have two other high end subs which which are incrementaly better in different areas but they cost six times as much. This unit is being used as a secondary unit and hands down cannot be beat. A real bargain. You won't go wrong here. You're lucky if you can find a 120 watt amp alone for a $100 delivered. |

Strength:
Cheap, cheap, cheap! Lots of power and quality unheard of
Weakness:
Can be a bit boomy and noisy if you don't pay regards to sub volume and crossover. This sub is not good if you just want it for bass, and lots of it. However, when used appropriatly (for "seasoning") it performs very well. Well, I saw this thing on sale at Best Buy. I had my doubts (how could a 130 dollar sub perform well?) but I got a lot more than my money's worth. True, this sub is not top-of-the-line - but anyone buying KLH products can't afford top-of-the-line, so that's not as important. Similar Products Used: Cerwin Vega 10" sub, Yamaha subs |

Weakness:
? For $99.00 and $30.00 shipping I can't be happier. I have a kenwood vr-309 and if you have heard this unit it has no low end. This sub brings my system together. I put in Saving Private Ryan DVD 5.1 the beack landing and OH MY GOD! it was awesome. I think my system is now better than going to any movie. I have the unit in the corner behind the right front speaker, crossed over to the lowest frequency, voulume at about 2 - 3:00. It shakes the house only on the extreme explosions. My Dad paid $300.00 for the jblpswd-112, and that sub will shake you chair but the sound is not all that much better, it does go down 10hz lower but for the price the KLH rocks. Looking at the jbl and infinity reviews, many of the subs have been breaking down. Not one review on the KLH has had any problem so that what sold me. I like it Similar Products Used: JBL pswd112m phillips sub, |

Durability? Instructions. What is the Auto/On/Off switch suppose to do? Lots of ups and downs from this product according to this specific review thread. So I need to add mine. I have the "B" Version and hopefully as this thread suggests, the B means fixes have been made to stop the rate of product failures. I connected the KLH to my Pioneer VSX-D557 A/V receiver as suggested by the rather weak KLH instructions to the Front Left and Right receiver outputs and have set my speakers to "Large." At full / max drive out on the Sub with no input signal, I hear nothing. There is no hum. Similar Products Used: None |
