Strength:
Deep, clear bass. Made in Canada quality. Can double as an end-table or coffee-table if you want...(just joking)
Weakness:
Placement....but who cares?? Once you find the placement, look out. I can't comment on the musical ability of this unit for the simple reason that I only use the pw2200 for HT. What I can tell you is that this unit reproduces great bass for that purpose. This sub can move air in a hurry. Great tight bass. The bass is fast and distortion free if setup properly. It took me a while to find the placement and to properly set it up. Once I did, it was awesome. I live out in the country so that means NO NEIGHBOURS. My next purchase will be another pw2200 so that I can run them in a tandem configuration. Highly recommended for HT. BTW, no amplifier hum on my unit. Similar Products Used: B&W asw2000 |

Excellent sub for the price. A *huge* improvement over my old Paradigm PS-1000. Bass is tighter, more controlled. Goes much deeper - to the point where you actually 'feel' the bass. LAcks a cross-over bypass :( . Very good match for the Mini Monitors. Binding posts high level inputs. Paid $720. |

Strength:
Deep Bass, Makes you feel like your heart skips when the sub fires.
Weakness:
Big and Heavy, A little hard to get set at the proper level. I have only had it less than 24 hours but once I get it set right I am sure this eakness will dissappear I have a friend who has Cerwin Vega system and that impressed me to no end until I fired up this PW-2200. Even though I know it is not configured properly right now then bass that it produces will blow you away. This is the first sub that I have ever owned so I can only comare it to what I have heard from other systems and I must say that the other systems do not compare. This is like going from high school baseball directly into the major leagues. No college or farm teams need apply. Similar Products Used: N/A |

Strength:
OUTPUT! Can reproduce a good kick drum, woofer is of unusual quality. Outstanding value for money (Even here in Canada). Will rivals subs costing twice as much and more! Reliable (so far).
Weakness:
None so far (a wee bit on the behemoth-type-of-a-sub...) I have my PW-2200 paired with a PS-1200 (V-2) in a stereo subs configuration. Phew!!! "Feeling" the rockets explode in "October Sky" will simply make your jaw drop and drool on your living room's carpet!. This thing will send waves of sound that you can't hear but you will definitely FEEL... Strength:
tight, LOW bass
Weakness:
Highpass output seems to have a fixed crossover freq. For someone like me who listens to music 99% of the time, the best thing about this sub is that it goes very low - down to 16Hz. It actually goes lower than that, because I can see the diaphragm moving at 10Hz, but my apparently my hearing only goes down to 16. I can't rave about how loud it is because I would never dream of blasting my music in a room as small as mine, but I can tell you that the unit produces clean, tight bass as low as I can hear it and as loud as I care to. Strength:
Bass is just incredible for a $800 sub! Great for movies and music, and does not bottom out.
Weakness:
I'd like to see a wood veneer option for a couple hundred more, but there are definitely NO weakness issues in performance! I have owned or home-audtioned all of the subs above, and the Paradigm 2200 is by far the best bang-for-the-buck! The 2200 is able to move a ton of air very quickly! Even the $1900 M&K 350thx isn't much better than the 2200. In fact, in my room, which consists of 1400 square ft with vaulted ceilings, the Paradigm 2200 is shaking the foundation even more than my former M&K subs did. The only area that the M&K subs are a little better is reproducing the kick drum -- probably because of the dual driver configuration. But the 2200 is amazing because the more I turn it up, the better it performs ... it just doesn't seem to run out of steam at higher volumes like the M&K's. It is extremely fast for a 12" driver as well. I highly recommend this sub to anyone who is looking for great performance in the $2000 under PR. Strength:
low, tight and very responsive
Weakness:
big This sub is just unbelievable. It does an outstanding job with movies along music. It really brings out those explosions and intense moments in a movie. It has made me where I do not even go to the movies, cause when I get there it just makes me wish I was sitting at my HT listening to it, because the sound quality is so much better. If you are looking for an outstanding sub look no further. |

Strength:
dynamic, powerful, low-end extension, did I say earth shaking?
Weakness:
had to wait 3.5 weeks for it! Where do I begin? First of all, as I slid the box off of the subwoofer, the power cord popped out - have you seen this cord!? Man, talk about build quality! The fit and finish is as best as I've seen. Even the grill is great- heavy, solid, rigid. Eventhough I'm an experienced sub user I followed Paradigm's manual to the 'T'. Initially there was no or VERY little output, I was thinking...man...what's this. I'd heard that Paradigm subs take some time to 'break' in and that is 100% truth. Suddenly a rumble that shook my bones (and my girlfriends from 12 feet away!). This was Gladiator in DD. I decided to warm it up with some music and put in Enya-Watermark, yes, I know, I know, but one has to admit there is substantial low end information on this disc. At only 1/2 output, crossing over at about 70 Hz, at a medium volume the windows, walls, floor and foundation were shaking. My girlfriend (who doesn't mind the size of the sub by the way) was sitting 12 feet away and she was stunned- as was I. This is sub is something else. It trashed the MK MX 90, the MK MX200 is alright, but over priced (terribly) since I got my PW2200 for 1/2 its price! The MX200 doesn't go as low either and this is noticable. Only the MX 5000 compares, and this is GROSSLY more expensive. THe MX 5000 has slightly more 'presence' at quiet volumes - but, the PW2200 still has too break in and isn't fully tweeked yet either. I would rather get 90-95 % of the performance and pocket the change! Hell, I could get 2 PW2200s for less than the price of 1 MX 5000 (almost three PW2200s!).
