Strength:
Good for hometheater and music, thumbing bass litteraly shakes the room if you wanted to, very clean sound with no distortion
Weakness:
none First of all, I'm not really an audiophile, so this review may be bias since I don't have enough experience to tell the difference between bad subwoofer and a good subwoofer. Similar Products Used: Sony SAWM40 |

Strength:
selectable crossover point, high pass and low pass crossovers. You absolutely need this if you want clean bass out of a suround sound capable system since the THX spec uses a crossover point WAY TOO HIGH (120hz).
Weakness:
user manual is pretty basic. it leaves out some critical info (ie, what's the ohm rating when using the speaker level input??? at speaker level is it a passive sub, or does it still use it's internal amp?). I think they should give a bit more theory and info so the "avarage joe" who picks one up can set it up properly (cross over points, etc). The rubber feet suck. My system does both theater and 2 channel duty, so I needed a sub that could cover both. thunderous for movies, musical for cd's (from mozart to chemical brothers). My mains are Magnepan's with approx 400 watts going into each (i blow the circuit breaker for the room every time I turn this system up, even with everything else turned off!). these speakers are lightning fast planars, not boxes, so they need a quick sub to keep up with them (they roll off at 45-50 hz, so the need for a sub is not really debatable). After a lot of reviewing and listening, I figured the velodyne would be a hell of a bargain if it would fit in with my system. So i picked one up at the local circuit city to try out. Similar Products Used: numerous, from all ends of the spectrum. this is the lowest priced one i had ever even considered buying. |

Strength:
Smooth, fast, clean, tight bass. Accurate in home theater and powerful. Price is worth it.
Weakness:
No weakness really. I just like volume knobs to be on front and feel that every sub should have a remote. I looked at the reviews and went to Circuit City to test one. It is a pretty solid built. The sub was pretty loud and the smooth bass attracted me. It is also detailed, fast, and accurate. The bass is tight and is not sloppy like some woofers. It is much louder when you hook it up with a subwoofer y-cable from a subwoofer output on receiver to both line level inputs on subwoofer. It doesn't get distorted or rattle. It has an anti-clipping circuit that prevents over-excursion. There is a 0/180 degree phase switch. You can choose to bypass the internal sub crossover if you are hooking it up to sub out on receiver so that it produces best effect in Dolby Digital/DTS movies. Make sure you place it very well and use a good subwoofer cable for best effect. Placement is big factor. Overall very nice and you will probably be very satisfied. I would recommend it to be used in a larger sized room, but not overly large. Similar Products Used: AR S300 |

If you are considering purchasing this sub, all I can say is don't hesitate! Buy it now. Believe me, I tried several subs before settling on the Velodyne CT-100, and I'm very picky about bass quality. I tried Klipsch, Atlantic Technologies and the Energy ES-10. |

Let me start by saying that the CT-100 is a superb sounding subwoofer. My Denon AVR-2700 drives everything but the CT-100 ... PSB 300i (main - 80RMS), 100Ci (Center - 80RMS), and Ambient II (dipole rears - 60RMS). The CT-100 is extremely powerful for the PSBs; it is matched with the volume set around 3 of 10. I use the line level out of the AVR-2700 (80 Hz cutoff) and the high-pass filter of CT-100 set at around 70Hz. The PSBs begin to roll-off around 75Hz. I found that the CT-100's crossover network produces a much smoother blend than using the crossover network of just the Denon. It is of course most noticeable when listening to music. Although I have mentioned my entire system, I feel that a review of just the CT-100 is meaningless without some frame of reference. Therefore, if you want powerful low frequencies to accompany similar bookshelf speakers for music or home theater, the Velodyne CT-100 is the way to go. |

This is a great sounding sub! I didn't get to listen to it very much before I bought it but when I brought it home I was truly amazed! If you are comparing this sub to anyone in its price range, get this one it is truly remarkable! |

I've had the CT100 for about a year now, and have been extremely happy with is performance. It's punchy and tight - great for rock music. It has plenty of output and bass for those action and sci-fi filcks I love to watch. I wish I lived in place where I could really crank it up and see what this sub can do.If you're looking for a great sub, check out this Velodyne sub. |

I bought this sub from abcstereo.com. I have been listening to it for a while now, and I love it. It reproduces bass very well, and for the money, there is nothing better out there. I have coupled the sub to a pair of B&W 602s and I think that they sound wonderful together. I use a yamaha 995 receiver and a sony cd player with straightwire interconnects and audioquest speaker cable. I also use this subwoofer for home theater, and it does extremely well. |

Strength:
Tight Bass, Nice housing, Great buy! I purchased these at a local Circuit City for $400 new. The Velodyne CT100 are a great buy and offers alot for the price range. It is hooked up by my Nakamichi AV 7 with my front and rear Wharfedale speakers. The cables I am using for the Velodyne CT100 are Tributaries Cables at about $70. Overall, I am quite pleased with the output of the CT100. Clean, tight bass. I was really interested in the Klipsch KSW12 but decided to go with the Velodyne. The Infinity BU 120 sub is a good sub but I went with the CT100 again because I was really impressed on what this sub can do...and more. Circuit offers a 30 day money back and a 1 year exchange program for a different subwoofer. This is what got me. Similar Products Used: Klipsch KSW 12 |
