Strength:
Great sound for "entry level" product I bought the CT120 because in my opinion, it has the best performance of any of the $500 or less subs I was able to test drive. I originally bought it thinking someday I would upgrade to a servo, but am happy enough with it at this point that that may not happen. |

Strength:
Tight, clean base even at high volumes.
Weakness:
I felt that the auto on/off didn't work very well, so I just override it with the manual on/off. I have had my Velodyne for about 3 months now and am very impressed with it. Aside from the auto on/off (which could just be me or my equipment), I have absolutely no complaints. I can finally FEEL the bass without getting a headache from the boom. |

Strength:
The velodyne has extreme value for it's performance. It is a great home theater sub for the money.
Weakness:
Not as suitable for music use as the Q of the sub is a bit high for many low Q speakers. Highly recommended for Home Theater use. |

Strength:
Tight base, I've to agree with Russ on all the points.
Weakness:
None My Carver 5.1 blew and CC was giving a replacement and I cooly went on for this one as this is the top of the line they carry and paid a little extra dough. But it's all worth it. Similar Products Used: Def Tech 15TL. |

GREAT BASS!!! not at all boomy. Anti-clipping circuit, and over-excursion protection built in.
Weakness:
None Bought a JBL-PSWD112 from J&R, but returned it within 10 days cos it was too boomy, and muddied the bass. Buyers beware of J&R's return policy, cos they never give your money back. All they give is store credit even with a valid reciept and even if you return the product the very next day. And they will argue with you that if you listened to the product on the floor and bought it then you must have liked it, so if you say you are not satisfied with the performance that just doesn't cut it with them. However after I fought with them for 20 minutes, they agreed to make an exception and give me my money back (minus the 15% restocking fee). I never want to go back to those blokes ever again!!! phew!!! Ok enough J&R bashing. Now bacl to the sub. Similar Products Used: Klipsh, JBL |

cabinet finish I was looking for an upgrade to my anemic Mirage ps-10(not a bad sub but just no power). I had seen the other reviews on this site for this sub, and even though I was willing to spend 3 times as much on a sub I still thought I would audition this Velodyne. In the end I just couldn't justify not buying it at this price. I auditioned subs from B&W, Mirage, M&K, and Monitor, as well as more expensive velodynes. In my opinion this sub outperformed 95% of these other subs, and even outperformed subs costing much, much more. I was really impressed by its clean, full bass. I didn't sound at all boomy, and it has more than enough power for me.(When setting the level limit on my reciever I went to max with no distortion, but had to turn it down because it was rattling the guts of my TV and distorting the image!) My only complaint is that the box could be finished a little better, like in a black ash veneer or something, but at this price I can't complain! This sub is a great lesson in more expensive doesn't always mean better sound, and that trusting your ear is better than trusting the product literature-after all isn't it all about great sound? PERFORMANCE, Value, Boom-for-the-buck
Weakness:
My neighbors are upset. This is definitely the best sub for under six hundred dollars. I have had it for about 2 weeks and I can say it was money well spent. The bass is tight, not too boomy, deep and powerful. I have it turned up 1/3 volume and it is enough bass to rock the room and the house for that matter. Great for movies and music. My system includes Polk RT35i X4 and Polk CS245. All I need now is a high end receiver! Similar Products Used: Harmon Kardon/ Polk |
